A "The Lone Ranger" Review, by thing1
So, this movie has Johnny Depp as an outcasted Comanche Indian that basically sold out his tribe for a shiny pocket watch in exchange for showing these two guys where a river that had a bunch load of silver began. Not bad.
Cinematography: 9 out of 10. The visual effects for the movie being set in a wild wild west time era were phenomenal. I mean, you had all the dynamite, you had all the gun shooting... really great stuff. Sound: 7 out of 10. This was a Disney, sure. I get that. But with all the action that went down, and all the stuff that happened, there really should have been a bit more swearing in it. Other than that, the sound effects that went with the visual effects were awesome. The casting was amazing, and as always... Johnny Depp did his part like a true professional. Re-watch-ability: 5 out of 10. As good as a movie as it was, this is not something I can see myself watching more than one or two more times. It was a good movie, but the acting was not done very well with the time set of the movie.
Depth: 9 out of 10. There was so much going on in this movie, that they finally tied together about 75 percent of the way through, that even I got confused at times. And I don't get confused to easily. Johnny Depp is an Indian, helping out a "spirit walker", and wears a dead crow on his head that he continuously "feeds". And then the movie is basically being told as story by the Indian, who is an exhibit at a fair, but is really alive? Very confusing at times, especially for a Disney movie.
Story: 10 out of 10. The story was great. It taught a few lessons, as Disney movies tend to do. There was a lot going on, so it kept you interested.
Audience: 6 out of 10. Not as many people showed up for this as I thought would, even for a 4:30 showing on an island 3 days after the release. There was still a good bit of people there though, so that is why this movie gets a solid 6.
Overall: 7.6 .
This movie was alright, at the best. It was a 2 1/2 modern day wild wild west movie made by Disney, and not very true to the minor details of the old west. So this gets a 7.6, and that is being modest.
