Donkey Kong Country 2 is absolutely amazing and honestly my favorite of the Donkey Kong Country series. I love that Diddy and Dixie Kong are paired up because this duo is quite troublesome. On top of that, this is a direct sequel to the 1st game where King K. Rool's ship crashes on nearby Kremlin Island after the battle with King K. Rool from the first game. (Doesn't necessarily explain how Dixie found her way here, but who cares?!

). Even though this game is from the Super Nintendo era it will still literally rock your world!
**Please note that anything I put into parentheses are like my thought bubble while typing up this review**
Graphics: 10I've gotta say that these graphics are fun and exciting. All graphics are clear and very detailed and really depict the concept of the level you're playing. To add to that, the levels are really well constructed. Take, for example, the Honey levels which I just thought was very cool. In fact all the levels on this game are extremely cool and when I first played this game, they surprised me with the level of creativity that was put into this game. Animations are no joke either, these really add to the upbeat persona that the Diddy/Dixie duo have. Altogether, it was just sheer brilliance.
Sound: 10You can't ask for better music or sounds. Even now it's been many years since I've last played this game and I can still remember some of the music that was played in this game (No Joke). I love the music and honestly, it was very unique which added to the excitement for playing this game. If I had to choose favorite songs I'd have to say Bramble Blast was pretty cool and the song where you turn into the snake and jump across the ship (It was really fast and upbeat). Those 2 songs really made the music on this game for me. I really enjoyed the rest of it too, but it was these songs that stuck with me many years later.
Addictiveness: 10The game is absolutely fun and that alone makes the game worth playing again and again. (Yes I admit that I hadn't played it in many years but that was because I played it a lot on my Super Nintendo and that burnt out (I wonder why)). On top of that, the music is absolutely addicting. You also have a great story to boot and many cool features in this game than there was available in the 1st game. My favorite character of all the Kongs is Dixie Kong with out a doubt. It probably just has something to do with that guitar she plays when she finishes the level and nothing to do with being able to slowly float down (Some sarcasm applied). The game is just all around addicting and if you have friends or family to play with or against you then it becomes even more fun and addicting.
Story: 10Honestly, I don't think that this game has as big as a story as the next sequel Donkey Kong Country 3 but I still think that this game's story is still just as good. First off, I like that if on the first level you go into the ship there is a random floating message that states Donkey Kong was captured. The rest of the story is about climbing your way to the top of the island to face King K. Rool again, which is probably the 2nd part of the story. The cool thing about this game is that there's a 3rd part to discover at the end of the game. Of course, you'll have to play the game to learn more about that. There's a hardcore story here for a hardcore game and that easily earns a 10 out of 10.
Depth: 10Now here comes the good part. I don't normally give games outside of the strategy games a 10 because they don't have that depth to them that gets you deep into the game, however, Donkey Kong Country 2 does. What's cool about this game is the all new animals that you can ride and even transform into. I was confused at first but I liked it even though I honestly thought it was silly. The other aspect of this game that I really liked was how much more different the levels of this game were compared to Donkey Kong Country. There's racing and all new bosses where some of them were quite a bit unique. Bosses were even a bit more difficult and not as 2 dimensional as the 1st game. On top of that, the barrels actually rewarded you with something you needed in the game so completing the game 100% came with a reward. It's just so addicting that I would refuse to put the controller down at times because I wanted to finish the game. There's many new elements to this game and for that reason I felt that Donkey Kong Country 2 earned a 10 on depth. This should be an icon that guides game developers into creating new and unique games.
Difficulty: 7The game is exactly as difficult as it needs to be. The earlier parts of the game aren't too difficult and as your progress it gets increasingly difficult with new elements to get used to. What I liked most is that some elements were actually challenging me to play smarter than I was and I was even stumped on a few levels fearing for my last lives. In the end, I prevailed without too many problems. It's this level of difficulty (In my opinion) that pulls gamers in and makes it fun and with the added bonus of great graphics, music and it being addicting to no end just adds to it. The hardest part about this game is probably later when you get deep into it.
Overall: 10In my opinion, this game is probably one of the best side scrolling games devised for any console. The reason for that starts with the rest of this review where every part of the game was perfect. You can not ask for a better game and you probably couldn't add anything to the game to make it any better than it was. It is the pinnacle of perfection and done in a very clever way. I have absolutely no gripes with this game. Only gripe I had was the fact that my parents didn't know how to hide Christmas presents very well and I saw the cartridge of this game sticking out of the entertainment center so I climbed it and found this game. Because I did that, it was given to my younger brother for Christmas and not to me which sucked at the time. It was and still is a very great game.
Anyone who hasn't played this game needs to. Anyone who posts a comment to this review needs to play it again! I'd recommend this game for anyone and everyone. I also think there needs to be some kind of competition game for this version and it needs to be hosted on Vizzed. That would be a whole lot of fun and very exciting as well!
