Objective
Aerobiz Supersonic is a strategy game where you assume the role as CEO of a new airline company. In this game you are competing against 3 other airlines to have the highest profit and become the most popular airline. The actual win condition requires you to rank as 1st in 4 regions for 12 consecutive months. To do this you will need to purchase planes, plan out a strategy, negotiate for slots, purchase businesses and so much more.

Before you Play
Before you actually play your game, you're able to choose between different settings. The first setting allows you to choose between the different ages of air travel. Each era represents the amount you earn and spend based on that time. If you play during The Dawn of the Jet Age you'll start with less money but everything is cheaper. If you play during Supersonic Travel everything will be more expensive but you'll have more money too. The second option allows you to choose the level of difficulty. Honestly, I still think the easy level can be quite a challenge at times. The game requires a lot of luck and that depends mostly on how the computer controlled A.I. play.

Afterwards you're able to choose where you want to create your home base by selecting any of the green cities. Green cities are the only cities capable of hosting your home base. White cities are not capable of holding a base because they're generally smaller and kind of programmed that way. Depending on where your home base is will alter the amount of starting money you will have at your disposal. After you choose your city you can change the name of your airline and color. When you've completed that you'll be taken to the actual game where you will begin playing. I will have to explain each of the commands because the game doesn't explain them.

**If you're looking for a city with extra money you can always save state it before you choose a city and check different cities to see which ones you like best**

Learn Your Commands
The reason for this is to help you understand how to play the game. Knowing your commands is a big part of figuring out how to play and become successful. It's also important for knowing what I'm talking about in this guide. On top of that, you will need to know all your commands anyway and learning through trial and error isn't always the best way to learn.

New Route (Top Left)
This command allows you to create a new route from your base to where you're trying to create a route to. You can use this command to create routes between cities in different regions as well. Unfortunately, you can only create as many international routes as there are regions providing you have the airplane to travel that far. From your home base, for example, in North America you can only create  1  route to Europe, 1 to Africa, Middle East and so forth. This will be the bread winner for earning yourself a nice income.

Check Route (Top 2nd from Left)
You can use this task to check the status of your routes and make any modifications. If your route isn't producing very many passengers you can use this to reduce the fair to get more people and eventually make more money. You can also change the plane you use as well. This can only be used after you created a new route on the previous turn.

Negotiate Slots (Top 3rd from Left)
This is the option you use to earn slots so that your planes will have some place to land in that city. Without these you can not create a route to that city. You also need these to have slots in your bases to create the routes. For example, if your base is New York City and you have 5 slots there you can only send 5 flights to elsewhere. If you have 0 you can't create any new routes until you get more. You're also able to return slots if you don't want them because holding on to slots will cost you money every quarter and if you have extra slots you won't use that takes more from you.

Purchase Aircraft (Top 3rd from Right)
In this command you're able to visit the different manufacturers who provide you with the aircraft you need to maintain your routes. Don't buy too many at once because you'll end up broke before you know it and have no more money to create new routes with. The yellow aircraft place allows you to sell your aircraft. If you're in need of some extra money, it may be possible to take planes you purchase from a manufacturer when they're half off and turn around and sell them on the next turn at the World Lease buyer. It won't earn you too much but it'll give you something.

Budget (Top 2nd from Right)
This is a very unused feature for me. You can adjust the amount of spending needed to provide Advertising, Customer Service and Repairs. All 3 are essential to maintaining a healthy company so reducing it from maximum would only potentially hurt you. It does help cut back on money but the outcome isn't as desirable. It seems like the longer it stays on Maximum the faster it increases and grows.

Businesses (Top Right)
In this command you're able to purchase a business. Businesses are helpful towards adding to sales and generating more passengers. I find that these are most effective in cities that you have made your base (Hub). You also maintain the right to sell businesses if they aren't working out for you. If you're unsure whether a business is profitable you can go to check it's status by going on to the sell business choice and check it out where it says profit.

Hub Setup (Bottom Left)
Whenever you create a flight into a new region you will need to create a hub which is a base of operation in that region. Hubs allow you to create flights to and from your base similar to the home base you selected when you began the game. This is essential to your game because you will need a base in at least 3 other regions in order to generate enough passengers to claim the #1 position.

Advertising (Bottom 2nd from Left)
Advertising can be a key element used to generate more passengers and it's success depends on how many businesses you purchase for the type of advertising you are paying for. This is very useful for cities that aren't generating many passengers but if all your cities are maxed out and can not take in anymore passengers your advertising would be useless. You'll have to pay close attention to your routes if you hope to succeed.

Meeting (Bottom 3rd from Left)
This command is useful to get in-game advice about what you can do to improve your company and boost sales. One of the things that are suggested are routes between specific cities. Other suggestions include how to make your routes provide the best sales or profits. They'll also suggest to purchase businesses and which planes you should buy. Honestly, you can play your whole game by following the advice of a meeting. This might be something that a new player looks into because they offer very helpful advice.

Information (Bottom 3rd from Right)
This command provides different information you can find on your company. You can find out more information on your routes, planes that you own vs those being used, where all your costs and sales come from, what businesses you own and your victory conditions. (You have 20 years which is 80 turns to win your scenario)

Options (Bottom 2nd from Right)
This command allows you to save your game using the in-game feature. You can turn animation off, end your game etc.

End Turn (Bottom Right)
Whenever your turn has finished you will need to choose this command to end your turn. When you end your turn the other players will take their turn and when they're done you'll see everyone's results from the end of the quarter. Green represents sales, Red represents costs, Pink represents profits, white represents number of total passengers and you will see a colorful bar that represents the cities that you have routes to.

Possible Events
In Aerobiz there are a series of possible events that can occur. Some are pre-planned and others are unexpected. Most of these events will hurt your company if they effect you. Always try to squeeze out a little extra profit in the event that an event happens and it takes away some of your profit.

Pre-Planned Events
Pre-planned events are events that will always happen every time you play the game. These won't change no matter what you do and this applies to any of the different ages you can play. Knowing some of these events before you actually play can help you strategize your game and help you make the most out of what you're going to do.

War
War is one of those pre-planned events that will prevent you from negotiating with a city or cities. One example of this is the war that takes place in Cairo during the Dawn of the Jet Age. When war happens, it will be awhile before you can have full access to the cities involved. Also, the cold war is something that goes on behind the scenes. Hostilities are increased with the Soviet Union if you are outside of them and if start in the Soviet Union the hostilities will be greater for North America and countries in Europe.

Olympics
The Olympics happen once every 4 years and I believe they happen to appear in the cities that they were in in real life.  When the Olympics happen, air travel in that region will spike so if you know when the Olympics are going on you can boost your profits by increasing the fares and adding more flights providing you have the bids to do so. You're also given a 1 year notice prior to the Olympics so schedule your plans ahead of time and try to open routes to get to the city where the Olympics are being held.

Airport Expansion
I believe that these are pre-set in the game but I may be wrong. Usually when the airport is used up there will be a project to expand the airport. Usually this requires 12 or more months to do and provide maybe 15 additional slots or more. It's impossible to negotiate all slots of most cities and impossible to negotiate all slots of all cities. At most you might need 70 or 80 slots in any given city. If need be, you can always take slots from smaller profit routes which will return the slots in your home base that way you can use them again for other routes.

Unexpected Events
These events will appear at random and are not planned at all. Unfortunately, you can't predict these and sometimes they effect you or they will effect other players. Always try to plan for the unexpected and I recommend you always try and encourage your repair and maintenance services to be placed on maximum in budget to help minimize risks with crashes or accidents.

Heavy Storms
Storms may cancel flights for the quarter and that will take away from your sales. I'd like to think that these are hurricanes that keep flights grounded.

Maintenance Problems
Every now and then your fight might be required to take an emergency landing. I think this takes away from sales for the quarter and the route is shut down but I'm not fully sure.

Tourism
Sometimes you will encounter hot spots which give a huge increase to tourists. Taking advantage of these will provide you with more sales. I am not sure if these are planned but they seem to happen in some cities more often than other cities but that might be due to playing the same scenario multiple times.

Financial Aid
At times there will be opportunities to invest in the surrounding area in one of the regions. Some of these include clean-up efforts or to make living conditions better or to reduce air and noise pollution caused by the airport. choosing to invest will improve relations with that city and refusing will change nothing. Only 1 player can invest so if you're the first one asked and you choose to invest, the other 3 will not have an opportunity.

Half-Off Quarter
Sometimes you will be approached by one of the manufacturers for the planes you can purchase. They will offer half-price for all their aircraft. Unfortunately, you can only purchase up to 10 of each of the models that are available.

Earthquake
I never see this happen all too often but this will cause damage to a city. I don't know the full extent of what this event does but it will probably reduce the cities tourism and economy.

Strikes
If you open too many flights between cities you may encounter union strikes which will take away from your profits. This is something that you won't really know about until it happens. I'd recommend you have meetings to see what your crew has to say.

Crashes
These aren't too likely to happen but sometimes a plane will crash and I'm sure that spells disaster for whoever's plane that is. I've never had it happen to me so I don't know if you lose the plane (Which I think you should) and I'm sure it effects your sales quite a bit.

Playing Your Game
Now you can actually begin playing your game! One of the first things you will want to do is begin opening new routes (Top Left Command) to generate sales but actually playing the game is a bit tricky. Let me start off with saying that the routes will always have a cost to open and they will have a set number of miles. If you need an aircraft with 3000 miles to travel between destinations then you won't need to use one that can travel 8000 miles when you have one that can travel up to 4000 miles. So be careful with the aircraft you use because you might not know where your better planes are if you use them. As this point I recommend you begin opening a few routes using the smallest possible aircraft you own. Each route you're looking to make money on so be sure not to go overboard on the number of flights. You'll have to come back and check your routes on the next turn and keep checking them each turn until you're happy with what they're producing.

Once you've taken care of your aircraft you may want to visit the manufacturer (Top 3rd from Right Command). I recommend that you only but the airplanes you think you'll need for the following turn because there's no need to buy 30 airplanes and have no money to actually open new routes right? So don't go overboard. What I recommend you do is try to stick to the aircraft you're supplied with at the beginning of the game. Usually, these are cheaper and they normally give you 2 different aircraft; 1 for shorter distances and 1 for longer distances just to start you out with.

When you're happy with your aircraft you will want to begin negotiating bids for slots in other airports (Top 3rd from Right). What I recommend is bidding on 1 airport in other nearby regions that your planes of capable of traveling to. The reason for this is due to the high fares. In this game people actually pay thousands of dollars to travel long distances and usually pay high prices. If you have routes to different regions opened right from the start you will begin making easy money right from the start so at least you'll always have a profit coming in even if you go broke. I'd recommend you do 2 or 3 depending on which city you chose to begin in. For example: If you begin in New York City I would bid in Mexico City and London.

You may also choose to purchase businesses (Top Right Command). Businesses are always helpful to generate more sales and passengers but I've never been a huge fan of them because they like to go under sometimes and create no profits. The Grand Hotel is one of them that love to do this. Businesses also serve the other purpose to help boost advertising if you purchase the same set of businesses in cities you're connected to.

Whenever you're done with your turn you will need to choose the bottom right command to end your turn. The main things you need to be aware of in this game is the planning and strategy aspects of building your company. You're very limited on your money and if you open bad routes and you have no profit coming in, eventually you will just waste too much time and you'll never be able to win the game. I always try and shoot for 10 of thousands if not 100s of thousands depending on what scenario I choose. 1 rule keeps things simple, the more profit you earn the more you can do in a faster amount of time. Work on making a profit then later try to win the game. Don't just try and win the game as soon as you begin playing because that will just backfire.

When you are to the point where you have built a base in every region of the world you will want to begin focusing on 4 regions that you can become 1st in. Your first region has to be your starting region and you must have the most passengers there. If no one started in the same region as you, that should not be too difficult unless an opponent advertises there. The other 3 regions should most likely be regions that your opponents didn't start in. If they're all over the place, try to focus on the regions where you;re most likely to slip by them. North America, Southeast Asia and Europe have the most cities to fly to and from so these areas are likely that 5 to 10 routes could by pass whoever is there (Providing you have enough planes to do this).

When you are ranked 1st in 4 regions you'll have to hold onto those 4 regions for a full year and at the end of the year you'll win and "dominate the world". Just remember that you may need to focus more on advertising if you're playing more challenging A.I. and you might want to focus more money on businesses so that you can accomplish this.

Advertising
The key to advertising is having enough owned businesses in a specific category shown on the advertising command. Unfortunately advertising will only do you good in an area that you aren't doing so well in like while I'm typing out this guide I'm also playing the game at the same time and my relationship with the Middle East sucks right now. If were to advertise there I should generate a steady traffic flow for my passengers. Understand that in some regions you can;t find many of specific types of buildings so always plan ahead what you're going to do so you don't make mistakes or end up wasting money.

Culture and Arts
Arts Pavilion, Museum and Stadium are the 3 businesses you want to purchase to run this type of advertising campaign.

Travel Network
Shuttle Service, Ferry Transport, Commuter Service and Catering Service are the 4 businesses that make this advertising campaign successful.

Leisure/Sports
Pleasure Boat, Amusement Park, Golf Course and Ski Resort are what you need for this package of advertising goodness.

The idea is to purchase several businesses of only 1 of the above categories that will aid in your campaign. Buying a Pleasure Boat won't help your culture and arts advertising at all. So aware of what you want to do and plan ahead,

If you play on the harder difficulties I think that this becomes more essential to playing your game and developing your company considering that you will be competing with more intelligent A.I. and that fact that they will be taking away your customers. This will probably become one of the more important strategies you'll need to work on as you progress.

Tips
1. Negotiate slots for 1 city in each region outside of your starting region. Open routes to those cities and maximize your profits. These routes will provide you with the largest income.

2. Connect your regions. If you can make a triangle of routes where 3 cities are able to connect to each other then I suggest you do that. This helps boost income with another route and any route you connect to in that region will boost passengers for both those international routes so it is a triangle effect that ultimately boosts all 3 cities passenger totals. It's more effective if you can get more routes in each of those regions.

3. Focus on businesses in your home bases in each region because this will help boost passenger totals for routes that aren't already maxed out. I think the travel agency is most likely to make a continuous profit and it seems like it's effective at making other businesses profitable (At least for me).

4. Don't focus too much on 1 region because that's like putting all your eggs in 1 basket. In your starting region you're more likely to stay the popular candidate for travel (even if prices are higher) but if you're outside your starting region the competition gets fierce.

5. Every time you open a new route, on your next turn check it to make sure there's no more room for profit to be made. Maximizing your sales is key to expanding your company further.

6. Don't neglect meeting with your team. They offer great advice for company expansion and growth. What they have to say can provide you with insight if you're new.

7. Always check to make sure that you have planes in your inventory after you plan on bidding for slows. If you don't have the planes you need then you're not going to make any money from that route for that turn.

8. If a region isn't producing any passengers try to advertise there after purchasing the businesses to do so. This will really help your cause in the long run if it's successful.

9. Try to open routes to those white cities where tourism can boost 10 fold. Miami, Tunis, Athens, Honolulu, Rio De Janiero and plenty more are some cities you should definitely connect to. When they become the hot spot your passenger total not only increases for that city but it seems to increase for all cities in that region.

10. More routes in a region will increase your overall passengers throughout the region. I think this has some sort of hidden advertising variable that makes your company more popular throughout the region.

11. Only bid on slots when you need them or have no other use for your team. There's no sense in bidding on 4 different cities in Australia if you haven't even built a hub in Australia and there's no sense in planning that far ahead when your money is low anyway.

12. Try to open international routes as early as you can. You will need to check those routes and try to boost them. I try to use larger aircraft that have more seating when going to and from my home base, this way I can get the most out of the number of passengers and I earn the most out of the profit that can be made.

If you have any questions, comments, thoughts, problems, suggestions or anything in general, please feel free to post and I will assist you in whichever way I can. Please remember that the purpose of this Strategy Guide is to assist as a guide line for playing your game. It does not walk you through every step of your game and tell you what to do and where due to the variable known as strategy, There's too many different combinations of playing the game step by step and that would take forever to actually type up.
