Hello! How are you? Today I'm going to be giving you step by step instructions on where to find the three legendary beasts, the Legendary Pokémon in Pokémon Gold Version for the Game Boy Color. I will also be telling you how to get them. I hope this helps you!

What / Who are the three legendary beasts in Pokémon Gold?

The three legendary beasts in Pokémon Gold are Suicine, Entei and Raikou. They're more commonly known as the three legendary dogs. These dogs are by far the most powerful and rare Pokémon in this game and it would be wise to catch them rather than defeat them. Defeating them will gain you plenty of EXP, but capturing them will give you pure satisfaction as they are the HARDEST and most challenging Pokémon. You'll be lucky to even encounter them within the game. These dogs will move from and to different places throughout the game. You will not be able to see them naturally roaming the region; they will be in the grass surrounding towns and cities throughout. So, there is no specific place or destination of where they will show up, it's a bit like Pokémon Sapphire / Emerald / Ruby, Lati@s is very hard to pin-point. If you fly to different locations in the region they will move to another destination and this will make it even harder for you to catch them.

Where can I find these legendary beasts in Pokémon Gold?

Considering there are no specific places or locations where these beasts will show up you are really relying on your memory and gutt-feeling. I refer to memory because if you search an area and they're not there you must remember that you've checked there, or else you're just going to be circulating the region over and over again. If you draw a quick sketch of the map on a page or something and mark off where you've been and checked it will greatly benefit and help you! Also, you can find these Pokémon an easier way but you will need to be constantly checking and referring to your Pokédex. If your Pokémon is on and activated their locations will be shown and you will be alerted to their locations. In order for their locations to show up on the Dex you must have encountered them before. If not, then you must find them first. To see where they are on your Dex, you will see a particular part of the Dex light up the word 'Area'; this will indicate and highlight where the Pokémon is, or where the dog is. REMEMBER. Do not use fly to these locations. If you use fly the Pokémon will sense that you are coming to it and will quickly dash to another location! Make sure you DO NOT fly there. I recommend using a bike or even using your feet to get to it. By doing this you will not alert the Pokémon that you are coming.

After encountering these Pokémon, how do I catch them?

These beasts can be really, really difficult to capture. Personally, I thought Raikou & Entei were the hardest to find. Both of these dogs flee very easily and therefore you will not be able to catch them. However, if they do flee they will automatically be entered into your Pokédex and you can then track their locations. If you haven't encountered them before and it's your first time, I recommend having a Pokémon on you that knows MEAN LOOK. Mean look will prevent the Pokémon from fleeing the battle and therefore you will have a chance of capturing it! If you don't have this move it's really down to pure luck that they don't flee. I recommend putting them to sleep or even paralyzing them so they cannot move or attack you. This will also prevent them from fleeing. If you manage to prevent them from fleeing the battle try getting their health down to almost 1 HP, if not then make sure it's not 0 or they dead, man. I also recommend having at LEAST 50 Ultra balls with you when roaming the region looking for these beasts. All of them will be leveled 40! Another tip is to have MAX REPELS. Put a Pokémon that is less than level 40 in your primary slot and then use a repel. You can now roam the region without being interrupted by weaker Pokémon, the only Pokémon that can show up are ones greater than the level of the Pokémon in your primary slot. This will maximize the chance of those beats showing up!

Good Luck!

This is a very helpful thread, I like your strategic approach to catching them, I think this is very good and useful. You start it off with a question which really makes your objective and the purpose of this strategy clear and I think that is very important to have as well. So overall, I think this can be very helpful when you are trying to catch these pokemon. I like this a lot and I know lots of people will use this to help them. Keep up the great work man!

This is pretty helpful, but some of it could be better and could show more about how to do it correctly.
But it was good. Good job with this one.

Dean2k13 :  Some of what you said is wrong. Using a move like mean eyes won't work. They will simply use roar and get away. In order 2 have a chance 2 battle these pokemon with out them fleeing, you need a pokemon at the top of your list with a speed greater than 99. Using status effects aren't a bad idea because every time you encounter them they will still have that effect. You just don't want 2 poison them because if they faint it is over. The easiest way 2 catch them is 2 wait until you get your master ball and give it 2 a pokemon and clone that pokemon 11 times. You will have 10 master balls which will give you enough for all the legendary pokemon in the game. You want 2 keep the 11th ball so if you need more master balls you have one 2 work off of.

Scyther's False Swipe brings a Pokémon's health down to 1 HP without fail- perfect for catching legendarys. Combine that with Hypnosis or paralyzing them, and easy catching.
