Will PS3 controller work with GBA/SNES games?

Since without a controller like about half of Final Fantasy VI/III Sabin's blitzes cannot be used, I'm considering getting a PC controller of some kind.  But I'm having to wonder which would be best to use considering I play a lot of GBA or SNES based games.  Would a PS3 controller be sufficient?  Or is there another USB controller out there which would work better or just as good?

Depending on what type of controller wired or wireless depends on how you install it.
If you want to go cheap go with the wired controller but be really careful those break pretty easy.
If you want one that last a lot longer get the wireless controller but that can be pretty expensive.
