I just watched a 90 minute video on the Xbox360 about this new XboxOne console.  If you ask me, I think they went a little overboard with it.

When I play my Xbox, I want to play games.  I don't want to watch TV or surf the internet.  That's why I have a TV and a computer/laptop.

I'm just curious to hear what other people think about it.  What are your thoughts?  For example, "how much do you think it will cost" or "do you think it will be more popular than the PS4" etc.

Xbox one = TV, TV, TV, internet, TV. I buy a gaming system to buy games, not watch TV. I obviously have a TV already if I just plugged my Xbox one into it. It's incredibly stupid, and it will probably cost about £700, and of course, everyone will buy it and say the Wii U or the PS4 sucks, because that's today's world. I would much prefer to have a Wii U. It's probably ten times better.

My cousin told me that you have to pay for internet on the Xbox, which I think is a total rip-off. I have internet on my Wii and my 3DS and I don't have to pay anything for it. I'm definitely planning on getting a Wii U instead of any type of Xbox. Besides, I've heard the Wii U is really good. Too bad there aren't very many Wii U games out there yet. On the Wii U you can actually transfer data from your regular Wii onto your Wii U, which is really nice.

PacmanandMariofan : Yeah, that or a PS4.

Mostly I don't really like the Xbox since day 1, mostly they're faulty, they don't sell games that are worth the money (although some are alright), and a lot of other issues, now that the Xbox One is going to be mostly a T.V. console than a Game console. I can say, it's good think I don't care about the Xbox.

Don't see why people are hating on the TV aspect of it. I guess their parents pay the cable bill, so they don't realize how this is actually a benefit. Seeing what kind of television programming you can get through this with no extra charge of the fee for Xbox LIVE, that would make it to where I really wouldn't need cable anymore. I could cancel my cable service, and the extra money would pretty much pay off the Xbox 1 in no time. And people who rip on Microsoft for making Xbox live not free, here are some things to think about. First off, it is $4 a month. Get over it. Also, you get what you pay for. I have played PS3 online quite a bit. What i have seen is it is spotty, annoying, less customization with  it, and more unreliable. Of all the times I have played Xbox live, I have had problems with it twice, and they didn't last long. i get issues with playstation online almost every other time I play it. So if I have to pay $4 a month to not deal with the crap I get with Playstation online playing, well worth it.

So as far as the TV thing people are complaining about, that is only one feature. The reason that is the feature they released first is to sell the idea to those who pay the cable bill, showing them that they can actually save money using the TV feature.

I have seen a few game demos too. Now, the ones I saw were for game genres I am not really interested in (such as some racing games). But with that said, they were absolutely gorgeous. I am really wanting to see more videos for the genres I am interested in.

Now, whether or not I will buy one, don't know know. I am not really in the position to be able to buy one, so it would not be anywhere close to the release date if I do get one.

But whatever. Playstation people can keep playing their Call of Duty online, being that is pretty much the best thing their online service has going for them (and I hate Call of Duty).

rcarter2 : Didn't the founder of Microsoft went through this before with the internet in the late 90's/early 00's

I don't think it's a good idea to have T.V. channels on the Xbox One, because that could cause some lawsuits for the company, but I don't know, it might not happen.

IgorBird122 : This is different. It isn't having television shows on the box. It is the ability to watch networks online just as you would cable television. That is a completely different thing. It is kind of like how you can have the YouTube app or Hulu app on your Xbox, but this is more like a console and a DVR. If anything, it could piss off the cable companies, but it isn't illegal by any means. Microsoft is currently has the goal of being give your entire entertainment center in one device. I'm sure at E3, they will showcase the games more to put the gamers at ease. But for now, I think showing all the other entertainment things to start off with is a smart move.

rcarter2 : It was not a smart move as most of the gamers are already put off. Most people already have Cable TV or Sky/Virgin boxes so there is no real need for it to be in the console. Like most cable companies do, Microsoft will probably make people pay a subscription for it which will be more costs on top of paying for Live. For the games, they showcased a very small variety of genres therefore only appealing to a much smaller demographic. I liked the PS4 presentation, it was just a huge variety of games and what can be done with them.

EDIT: Also, they only showed videos of the games meaning that we don't actually know how good the games look. For all we know they could be mock ups, made only to attract those who base a game off it's graphics.

rcarter2 : Yeah, if it's the individual show that wants to put it on there (like they do on Hulu), that is a totally different story, because they are individual shows that are on Hulu and they might added it on the Xbox One.

Honestly???
It is an overpriced Computer without a Screen, Keyboard, or Mouse. (My Opinion.)
It rejects the idea of a console that is intended to play games without internet connections or any of the other stuff.
While the other stuff is nice. I will not be purchasing one due to needing the extra stuff all the time.
I would get a new laptop before I get one of those. (Bonus: Laptops are not as fragile, or complicated, or Expensive.) "Curiouser and Curiouser" the business practices are of those that earn millions these days.
I am not an expert but if the demand is for a game console then the supply should match that demand. (Just a thought.)

In any case I hope you all will make your own choices with a wise mind at play regardless of what you want to do with this new "X-Box-One?" thing.

Good Luck To All.
I'm done. Stick a fork in me.
Peace.

Tails the Fox : Given your age, I can see where you are coming from. I assume being 17, you aren't in charge of things like cable bills. Even if it is an extra cost, even being able to just work with one company would be fantastic. I would love to only have one bill to worry about. And one of the things they have been promoting is that  it will be cheaper than having cable, yet not having to sacrifice networks that you watch.

rcarter2 : But it is also the cable companies that provide a lot of broadband routers: ergo, internet connection. I don't know how those kinds of deals work, but wouldn't getting rid of your current cable subscription also get rid of your internet connection?

So far from what I have heard, most people dislike the Xbox one, but I actually am quite interested and I actually like the idea of having T.V. on it so now I can save more space because I won't have my AT&T U-verse box thing and I can use those extra cable slots to put another system in instead of having to plug the system in whenever I want to play it, which is nice for someone like me that has more systems then the T.V. has space for.

It sounds horrible. It just keeps getting worse, and worse. And now it's came out with an official pricing. 900$? I don't think so.

Tails the Fox : Nope. Most cable companies that I am familiar with deal with cable and internet separately. Cable Internet is just Internet you get through your cable cord instead of the phone line or ethernet outlet. But typically, they are 2 separate payments. Having cable does not mean you have Internet, and vice versa. So This would not touch their profits from Internet subscription.

I also love the feature that allows you to both record and do live streaming of your gameplay without the use of external devices. I have always wanted to record my gameplay but just don't want to but the extras.

rcarter2 : The PS4 also has this feature, also allowing people who are watching to take over (obviously if you allow them to) and from what I know the videos can be uploaded directly to YouTube, I don't know if the One can.

Tails the Fox : Sure can.

But really, I don't know why gamers are so off-put by the reveal. One of the biggest criticisms the reveal got was that it didn't showcase games. But if anyone actually paid attention, they have been saying for months that they would not be showcasing the games at that reveal. They specifically said that this reveal was for introducing some of the features of the hardware, and the game showcase would be revealed at E3. it seems to me that most of the angry gamers should blame themselves for their disappointment because they clearly didn't listen to what they have been saying for 3 months now. E3 will be the time where not only the games, but how the new features can be integrated into the games. So is this really the time to make the decision on whether they love or hate the Xbox One? I am intrigued. I like many of the features they have shown. From a non teenage view of someone who is in charge of what we have for our entertainment system, this is a very good thing. But my decision will be based on E3 because Microsoft said a LONG time ago that that is when the games will be shown.

Why didn t Microsoft come up with a better name?!
It s like the employees sitting there in their offices, blabbing:

Well, hey: for our next console, the fans all want it to call XBOX 720.
We love them so much that we ll obey and call it the XBOX ONE.

IT S A BEAST (I mean it s HUGE)!

The 360 is bigger than the original and ONE is bigger than the 360.

Besides that, it looks pretty cool.

ESPECIALLY THE CONTROLLER

good work Microsoft

OMG adults nowadays... Xbox one failed in the aspect of gaming. It isn't about apps, TV, or Internet. No matter how many of you Xbox players say nothing is wrong with it, Microsoft is done for already. I can't believe all of the people who support it, knowing that they only want money. Seriously, you guys just sound stupid to me, because this is a gaming console, which they failed at making. If it wasn't gaming and was just a funny looking device like an Smartphone or gadget to enhance TV experience, all the more fine with me. But this being a gaming console is  just not acceptable, and everyone will just have to accept that. People needs to do there research on this matter, as even though the you can watch TV FREE, everything in all still costs A TON!

: Dude, the fact that it is focusing on TV is unacceptable.
Why do you think gamers are so Off-put? Are you a gamer? If you were I am sure you would understand yourself why. Sure, I don't pay bills, but everything else still brings it up to a healthy sum. Honestly, even if they showcase the games, there system is very wrong(termination of used games for one).

(that was probably a fail summon :/)
