So. After playing the sequels in the Advance Wars series, I decided to play the original on the GBA. Whilst some features that I had grew to rely upon were implemented at a later date, this was still a very enjoyable game.
Even after completing the Campaign, you are able to do it again in a harder version, which is good for the pro's (not me though!), but with many missions available for single or multi-player use, there is plenty of ways to practice in certain scenarios.
A lot of GBA multi-player games require multiple systems and games, but on this game, you can play with multiple friends (if you have any!) all on one person's system, or everyone can use their own in a mini battle.
Later games in the series build upon the success of this game, adding more modes, and it is easy to see why they were so good, with such a strong foundation set by this game.
Overall, it's a good game, starting simplistically, with field training and a few easy missions, but the difficulty gradually increases until it becomes rather challenging, making it a fun game, but with all of the missions, it can be rather addicting, trying to get the best rank on each mission.
