I know what your thinking yet another Pokémon game to become the best trainer around by battling people to prove it and your right, but that's what Pokémon is and always has been about. Well that and defeating people with adorable, cute and dangerous creatures known as Pokémon . So yes, just like any other Pokémon game you strive to defeat your rivals, gym leaders and the elite four, and you are rewarded with badges but that's as far as it goes. Why?! Simple, because they could not be more different. For instance unlike the usual Pokémon games, this one enables you to choose from a variety of trainers and their set 3 Pokémon from season 1 in the Pokémon center, but ABOVE ALL in battle instead of the usual turn-based combat system in this one you puzzle against your opponent to the death.
This game has several other game modes like multiplayer and single player modes along with several mini games. Another feature is that some of the characters have yet to be unlocked. With all it's modes and mini games this is a game that you would have fun playing for hours on end.
The graphics are way above average concerning the 3D and the animations of the characters which looks just like they are in the series.
There hardly is a story just the straight forward defeat your opponents and not a lot of depth when it comes to how many levels there are, but luckily this is one of those games that doesn't matter because it manages to make up for it with everything else.
The difficulty on the hard setting will make you have to repeat some battles, so the hard setting is obviously hard but compared to other games I would say its level is that of a normal setting's last level.
When it comes to the sound I have to say that I didn't mind or felt the urge to mute my computer for, which is huge for me considering out of all the games I have played this is the first. The sound/music changes depending on where and how far you are in the game, which I especially like about it because you don't get bored or slightly annoyed by hearing the same thing over and over again.
I have to warn you though to take caution because at times this game can be very addictive, as I had managed to play for hours without realizing it.
In my professional opinion, all in all this is a highly entertaining and fun game, that is clearly a highly underrated and under-appreciated game of which I would gladly play again.
