Intro: Oh the memories, I remember getting the Wii for christmas and how I was astonished by the motion control. Wii Sports is a perfect example of what the Wii can do, and although the graphics were and are fairly lackluster. It got millions of non gamers to play games. Not only did Wii Sports do excellent with the casual crowd, it also sold Wiis like no other system. However Wii sports also demonstrated the Wiis flaws, the lack of improved graphics got peoples attention, and the motion controls were not as good as they should have been. Is Wii Sports still fun, we'll find out.
Gameplay B+: "Finally! A sports game that I could understand!" I said as I played Wii Sports. The games sports have removed all the complicated rules that made most of these sports, in reality a chore to play. Nintendo just left the core basics of them. This makes the game, very easy to pick up and play for anybody. These sports control very well too, but sometimes I do struggle to get the motion controls right. Like in boxing, sometimes I try to punch and it does nothing. The games do have replay value. You get new teams, or opponents. Depending on what level you are. You get higher levels as you play, and defeat the opposing team, or player. Or if your playing, bowling or golf. Its just if you do better. Getting to the PRO level is a challenge in itself. You get to PRO level by getting to level 1000. You earn levels like experience points though so it won't take long. Every sport fells polished, and even the training, and daily fitness stages are fun. Like I said though, the motion controls can be jittery at times, and that can ruin the experience.
Graphics D+: These graphics look like they were from a gamecube. Lacking any improvement in the graphics department what so ever. Wii Sports main weakness is its mediocre graphics. You can blame the Wii for this, but I have seen much better looking games on the Wii. Super Mario Galaxy comes to mind. Despite the mediocre blocky visuals. Wii Sports attention to detail is great, and while it might be as blocky, as a PS2 title. The resolution is high. Still the blocky visuals can look painfull at times. Like the paper golf trees, that look like something that would come from a PS1 game, only with more detail. I'm dead serious, I'm not spoiled with PS3, and Xbox 360 graphics, in fact I barely touch those. I play old games for a reason.
Sound B: The sound is good, I really don't have much to say about this section.
Addictiveness A: This game will make you come back more, and more. The experience levels, make the sports addicting. Without it, the game would be boring. The training stages do what they do. Train you; the game gives you a medal every time you earn enough points. That also helps the addictiveness rating. Depth C+: Wii sports has 5 sports. Tennis, Baseball, Bowling, Golf, and Boxing. They all are very polished. You also have 15 training games, which are MORE enjoyable then the sports them selfs. There's also some daily fitness thing thats useless, but fun to use.
Difficuty Easy-Hard: The difficulty varies, depending on who your against.
Overall Rating B:
