tRIUNE :
jackmc10 : Is having the following issues while trying to install the plugin.

He Is using Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit and he uses Norton internet security, no error messages at all. It just "Hangs"

Here's the screenshot he provided:

http://s1340.beta.photobucket.com/user/jackmc10/media/vizzed_zpsabdc17de.png.html?sort=3&o=0

I can usually help people through troubleshooting this sort of thing, but he says that he disabled his anti-virus with no luck. I have also read issues with this version of Win7 having issues writing to certain temp directories and freezing in a similar manner but the user states no change in status if he tries to change the install directory (Just for troubleshooting purposes)

I know I have heard of this happening to one other user, but I don't remember if there was ever a solution. Any insight?

jackmc10 : I also have Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit and Norton and installed the Plugin fine.

Couple possibilities:

- If Norton blocked it, you can allow it from from quarantine
- The Plugin does need to install to Program Files (x86) so don't change the install directory
- What's the file size of the downloaded installer? Should be 63 MB, maybe you have only a part file

jackmc10 : My first suggestion would be to re-download the file. It seems like something is off if it's only 53mb as opposed to the size it should be.

No, it was my mistake about the file size, 52mb is the size of the installer. Come to think of it now, if Norton blocked the installer you probably wouldn't have it accessible to attempt an install.

Could try running the installation as administrator.

jackmc10 :

Hey sorry to bother you again, but I wanted to see if you had any further ideas regarding this issue. I am stumped as to what could be causing his problem if it isn't his Firewall/Anti-Virus isn't blocking it.

jackmc10 : I'm sorry that this is happening - also sorry that I'm not personally at your PC to check for errors. I could list some fixes in this post with the Windows Installer that would probably lead to nowhere. I'll just list a few options below:

1. Press the Windows key + R In the Run box that pops up type "services.msc" and press on "Enter" button.
2. Double-click on the service named "Windows Installer".
3. Check the value in the "Startup type:" field. If it's currently set to "Disabled", then this is the problem. Change it by selecting "Manual" from the drop-down box and also make sure that the service is started.

If that won't fix it then the issue would suggest that you try to unregister Windows Installer, and then re-register Windows Installer. To do this, follow these steps:

1. Press the Windows key + R

2. In the "Open" box, type "msiexec /unreg", and then press ENTER

3. On the "Start" menu, click "Run".

4. In the "Open" box, type "msiexec /regserver", and then press ENTER
