If you ever watched maybe half of the seasons of Power Rangers up to the end of Wild Force, then you would probably know something about the Power Ranger games for Play station, Game Boy, and Nintendo 64. Of course the graphics were never really that decent at the time since the best game nerds could produce was pixels and blocky heads, but this is one, and only one step ahead.
Lightspeed was my favorite season to watch, but the game wasn't my favorite.
The music? I loved hearing the intro menu song since it was the original theme for the show, just instrumental. There were about 6 extra seconds added on to the menu theme, but other than that I still bobbed my head to the song. The actual music while you're playing isn't that exciting at all. It's not the worst music I've heard, but it's just boring. Then there is a little cheer for when you beat the current level which does get annoying at times. If you've played the game, you'll know what I mean.
There really is no story to this relating to the show, or the game itself. They do have some characters like the rangers, their zords, Capt. Mitchel, and a few times Diabolico, but other than that the monsters are just random and made only for the game. There is something about the rangers on a mission to retrieve these "Titanium Coins" which do have power to them, but I never cared to play the game that long to reach this point in the game.
Lightspeed doesn't offer much of a challenge since it gives more than a fair amount of health and health restoration bonuses throughout the map. Also since most of the missions are pretty much "search and destroy", there is also a little radar that points to your objective to make it even easier.
Overall, there are many other better games out there to play than this. I just will play this every once in a while on my Nintendo 64 where the controls actually work to play this just to bring back memories
