Mega Man had 6 games on the NES. Did you know that there were 5 Mega Man games on the gameboy? I sure didn't. The first Mega Man game on the gameboy was called Mega Man Dr Wilys Revenge. Whats confusing about that is the fact that, that's what you would call a sequel. Its not a sequel to the Mega Man gameboy series though. They called the sequel Mega Man 2. So why did they call the first Mega Man, gameboy game, Dr Wilys revenge when there were already, 4 Mega Man games on the NES. Whatever, its a pretty good game, but there are flaws that ruin the game a little bit. Keep reading to know what those flaws are.

GAMEPLAY B: The gameplay is pretty good, but its not quite as good as the first 3 Mega Man games on the NES. Sadly the platforming is more tricky, as if the NES games weren't hard enough. There are plenty of times were you would have to of have seen an area before, to pass it. Otherwise you would die because the death traps appear to fast. Despite the cheap deaths. Mega Man Dr Wilys Revenge on the gameboy is enjoyable. It has the same run and gun feel that the NES games have. The level designs are fun, long and enjoyable, and the controls are excellent. Overall the gameplay is good but the flaws that are in it. Make it not as good as the NES titles.

GRAPHICS A: A small 4 shades of grey color palette must have been hard to work with, but Capcom still managed to make this game look like an NES game in black in white. The amount of detail in the game is incredible. There is even a sliver of the game were there's parallax scrolling. That's rare on an NES, and its even more rare on a gameboy. The sprites are large and well detailed making them look like NES sprites.

SOUND B+: The music is catchy and great sounding. Its one of the best Mega Man soundtracks I have ever heard.

ADDICTIVENESS A: This game is very addicting. It's hard, but its very addicting. You can die a whole bunch of times, but you will still want to play.

DEPTH B-: There are only 6 levels, but man are they long. They are easily twice the size of the levels on the NES. I guess this compensates for the lack of levels. There are actually 9 robots to defeat. The last 5 are in the 1st Dr Wily stage. You get powers from each of them. Plus a power up to help you reach areas that you can't reach normally. That's 10 freaking power ups. So there could have been more, but the difficulty helps make the game seem larger. There's even a password save feature.

DIFFICULTY HARD: If you want to challenge your mega skills. Then try out this game. The enemies take away a lot of health and the platforming is harder. Sure its frustrating, but it will appeal to anyone looking for a challenge.

OVERALL RATING B
