I'm sorry you have to have a surgery right after a few days from the New Year.

My father had a surgery before, my father was cutting wood or something at where he works when suddently the hand saw slipped and went past my father left thumb.

Imagine a orange, yes, that round orange ball, imagine it cut halfway on the half of the orange and lift it, the orange half should get down a little but being held by the orange because the half of the orange was not completely cut off, that's how my father thumb was like.

Surprisingly, instead of him saying bad words he asked for God's mercy, and completely calm, he washed the area of the wound and wrapped a bit of cloth on the thump, making the thumb be at it's proper place, then he asked for a friend of his at where he works, to take him to the hospital (damn, english not good enough to explain everything correctly).

My father told me that when the doctor inserted anestesia (I don't know the name of it in English), the anestesia quickly expelled because of the bleeding and he felt quite a pain in the process.

But making things short, the thumb is back in place, but he can no longer close his thumb like we do, and he can't feel if he is making to much pressure when he holds something or not.

I personally have not had surgery before, because I'm more of a self-sheltered type of person, I never really did anything to require it.

But my grandmother had surgery to remove a tumor from her face, she no longer has cancer.

I've only had surgery once, to take my gall bladder out.

It was an in-and-out of the hospital stay, I could barely move for half a week at the least, and I didn't take my pain pills at all because pills taste disgusting and I have a gag reflex that has a vendetta against any pills I swallow, no matter the size.

ruesen : Sounds similar to my situation. When I was 14, I had to go to the hospital in the middle of the night because I was having bad chest pains. The hospital I finally ended up in performed an angiogram, where they inserted a tube to look at my heart & take samples for a biopsy. They found out I had Myocarditis. It has since cleared up but it was pretty scary. They also let me see the samples of my heart before they took them to the lab. That was interesting to see.

When I was a baby. I had an aracnoid cyst (which means I had half a brain and too much brain fluid), so I got a shunt (drained the excess brain fluid.) Still have the shunt in my head. It sometimes gets really annoying because I can't fit my head into tight spaces.

I have had two surgeries in the past 2 years, I had my gallbladder removed. I was put to sleep, it was quick and easy, and didn't hurt at all. My second surgery was I had my wisdom teeth pulled, yet again quick and easy, no pain what so ever. The only thing about the wisdom teeth is your not supposed to smoke after it and I did, luckily I did not get a dry socket. I wouldn't be to scared of a sugary you will be asleep and not feel a thing. I hope your surgery goes well and you have a speedy recovery.

Only surgery I had was to get my Wisdom Teeth removed. I don't recall feeling pain until a day or two later. But I felt them chip my teeth away. It didn't hurt but... It was weird. The doctor and the nurses were telling jokes, and the secretary was in there... Apparently my mom asked how I was and I said "smooth." I don't remember it, though. Then I was put on Vicoden (spelling is wrong.)... that stuff works well!

I had a couple of surgeries when I was younger, one I was too little to remember though. The other was to remove something I had shoved in my ear on accident (I was four).

I had my tonsils and adnoides (is that how you spell it) out when i was 5 or 6. I kept getting strep throat (atleast 9 times a month) and my surgeon said I'd never have a sore throat again...I said "yeah right" and he said something like "Trust me, you will not" and I didnt say anything... I was in the hospital until I could eat again (that was like 4-6 hrs. later )
