NOTE: This is an accidental copy of my Mario Pinball Land review. This post will be changed on 12/17/2012 to a different review. If you're looking for the actual review, find the review with the same title, except the (ACCIDENT COPY) stamp. mrfe is right, though for some reason, I only made one, so it accidently copied, but yes, close this, but leave the original.

This is it. It's finally time. Like I promised in my Banjo Kazooie: Gruntilda's Revenge review, today i'm doing...Mario Pinball Land. If you can guess anything by the title, it's a pinball game! So, why am I dreading this so much? Well, though I've never actually owned this game, after playing through the game, (With heavy save-state abuse) I think i'm starting to appreciate BK:GR a lot more than I did before. Let's just get this over with.

Graphics: 10

This game also has very stunning graphics. The shading and color is perfect. So why does this have to be reviewed like this??

Sound: 8

Well, I won't explain quite yet. The sound effects are re-used mostly from Mario 64 for the N64 and Super Mario Sunshine for the GC (Game Cube) but there are a few original ones, and the soundtracks are new. But they are kind of droning since it's practically a 7 second loop and it's gets somewhat annoying.

Addictiveness: 4

I would never pick this game up in real life. Allow me to explain: The concept of going with paintings and collecting stars are in this game. A pinball game. Well, I don't see how it could fail, I don't see...Well, put it this way, take Mario; throw it in a blender along with pinball and set it to max. Without a lid. IT'S A MESS. The stuff that didn't get on the floor is a Mario/Pinball milkshake hybrid. Using the concept of a Mario game is a pinball game is just a recipe for disaster. You have to make precise shots to do EVERYTHING. Kill enemies, get stars, go through doors, fight bosses, everything. The stars are essential for opening doors and the door to Bowser. You get stars mostly by clearing out enemies on the screen, but sometimes you'll have to be a bit more clever. Bosses give star keys, which are used to get to the final boss. When you at least get one key, Bowser's Castle is open. But whatever you do, DON'T GO THERE UNLESS YOU HAVE ALL FOUR KEYS, it's a beginner's trap. You have to place your keys that you got from a boss into the keyholes with a statue of the boss you got it from above it manually with a very precise shot. But if you don't have all the keys, you're stuck on this screen until you purposely die or it happens by accident. I had to learn this the hard way. Also, be careful when getting stars or fighting bosses, because all of your progress will be reset after you leave the screen. So, you'll have to be good to complete the requirements and not fall out.

Story: 8

The intro shows Mario and Peach looking at an attraction that turns people into balls. After a misdirected cannonball, (Quite literally) Peach is taken to Bowser's Castle. Mario decides to go after her and save her. In ball form. Something that always mystified me is that the cup machine that turns you into a ball is bigger than you. So how does anyone turn into a ball? I don't know.

Depth: 9

As far as I know, there's 35 stars in this game. I could be wrong, but i'm sure i'm close to that. However, some stars are a real pain in the neck.

Difficulty: 10

Like I mentioned, if you leave a screen, everything there resets. Same goes with the bosses. That's right. And all of these bosses have an annoying ability that will most likely send you out. 1st boss can spit you in the middle of the flippers, it's hard to survive this. 2nd, shoots balls you have to hit at him then attack, but might block you from shooting. 3rd, can mess with your ball movement. 4rd, can shrink you with homing bullets, and you have to be big to hit him. By the time you've recovered, though, he's already shooting a another bullet. And you have to hit the bosses in the front, and hard. It's hard to explain, but doing it is harder than explaining it. Especially for the 3rd boss, Big Boo. You have to time it perfectly, or it's impossible. Your only saving grace is finding or buying the lightning items from the shop. It only takes 3 hits to kill a boss, and the lightning never misses. The downside? You'll spend more money from normally playing without any bonuses. 90 coins down the drain, just to beat a boss. I recommend spending it on the 3rd boss.

OVERALL: 6.1

And that's about all I have to say about this. I won't spoil the ending so you can figure it out yourself. If you have the patience. This game isn't that bad, but it's repetitive, and it'd take a lot of patience to beat this legit, and I wait hours just waiting for food, if you can believe that. Now, the sad truth is, there's one more cruddy GBA I have to review, but I don't really want to play it, but I'll think about it.
