Yu-gi-oh! is a trading card game widely famous for it's monster designs,deep rules and sheer variety of strategies. Yu-gi-oh! Dark Duel Stories is a game that i like to call "Forbidden Memories Portable".

In this game,you have to reduce your opponent's life points to 0,while taking care not to lose your own life points. Monsters can be set in two positions,defense and attack,and whether you are able to inflict damage or take damage will depend on those positions. There are magic cards that allow you to mess around with the rules by increasing your life points,destroying all monsters on the field,or even allowing you to summon incredibly powerful monsters.

There is a construction mode which allows you to create your own monster cards,which is somenthing that increases the Replay value of the game. The game is divided into 4 sections,the first one having the weakest duelists,and the 4th one having the greatest duelist of all times. You can even unlock new cards,and new duelists by using passwords, Now,it is not easy to obtain those passwords. You might need to use google in order to get all cards. Or,you can invite a friend to a netplay session,so you can trade your cards and get new ones.

Your deck has a limit to how many cards you can have,and how strong these cards can be. In order to increase that limit,you have to duel.
The soundtrack on this game is amazing,they are all masterpieces ported from the game "Yu-gi-oh! Forbidden Memories". It will keep you hooked during duels,those songs never get boring or annoyning. I'm just going to say : This game doesn't has RPG elements like Pokémon Trading Card Game,but it is just as addicting.

If you have a Netplay partner,this game will get pretty competitive,otherwise,you will have to use those secret passwords in order to duel new duelists. It is a game that i highly recommend for Yu-gi-oh! fans,especially the ones that have played "Forbidden Memories". But,everyone is welcome to play and adapt to the rules of the game. Even if you don't like card games,this one will definitely surprise you.

Also,you can fuse monsters and get stronger monsters as a result,and your cards have types. Some types can instantly win over other types,so it kind of reminds-me of Digimon. If you master fusions,you will have control over the first matches in the game. Follow my advice and you will surely prevail. And now,guess what time it is...Well,it's Time to Duel!

Ultra Important EDIT! : This game has no netplay support. So,you heard me,no multiplayer or trading! Kind of a bummer...i was expecting to be able to play with people from all round the world! All we can do is hope that they implement netplay for this game in the future. Oh well. Can't have it all.

You can't? It's just that i'm not sure what i can and what i cannot play in Netplay,because i don't have the Netplay item.It is so ridiculously costly,i mean,you pay 25000 Viz and then you're allowed to create your own netplay rooms?With all that Viz,i could probably obtain the entire Game Boy Color collection of games...i guess that's a previlege that only the rich can have.

MitsuriZX :   Hello. I think you done a good job describing the game. I remember when Yu-gi-oh came out but I was busy with different stuff in life to buy the cards. This game sounds good to play. 

Oh,it is very addictive.Only the soundtrack will keep you going for long.

MitsuriZX : You didn't have to put my mname in it. You could of just removed the trading part. Also there is free netplay until January first. You should try it. You can only play it on consoles though.

You did a wonderful job of explaining this game to us. I use to love playing Yu-Gi-Oh the card game. I was never big into the cartoon, but the card game was exceptional. I think I am going to make this the next game I decide to play. Yu-Gi-Oh is a classic for me, along with Pokemon. This game sounds really fun and addicting at the same time. I also like how you think the sound track is amazing, because sound in the games I want to play is very important to me. So, thank you so much for this review.

I also think that soundtrack is important for games.You can have an exceptional RPG,with a wonderful story,and online features,but what good will it do if the soundtrack is pure garbage? Well,this one is for you developers out there : make sure your games have good soundtrack,or else we won't buy them!
