It's racism, my friends, nothing more--at least for those *behind* the movement. Everything else is just a sublimation or intellectualization or repression (or whatever the appropriate psychobabble is) of the same. The point is they're in denial and making excuses. Forty-three white presidents: not a single birther conspiracy theory. Forty-three white presidents: not one threat of secession save over the issue of enslaving blacks. Forty-three white presidents: not a single one accused of belonging to a stereotypically "black" religion (don't get me started). This cannot all be a coincidence. Bush, Jr. generated much more hatred and nobody was doing anything equivalent when it came to him. Indeed, he was himself the only conspiracy theorist to be seen.

Sore losers. Same thing that happened when Lincoln was elected, the south didn't want him to win, and disliked his views so, they left. I can actually see another civil war if this actually happens. Although I would have to move out of my state. I do think this is just idiotic, as democracy was made so if you get a bad leader you get a chance to remove them later. Obama can't get re-elected again, so leaving now is pointless. What are they going to do the for the next election? To be honest, I think they are just idiots.

Those people are making petitions; the United States of America isn't a true democracy, so the people can't remove him. Removing the President can only be done by the Government, which is more of a Republic. To a certain extent the USA is a democracy, but not far enough for anyone to get him removed.

Well, now Puerto Rico is trying to become a state so if America loses a state then it will still have the same number as before.

I do think it's fairly stupid for states to try to leave as most of America is dependent on other states/foreign imports for day-to-day functioning. What is Louisiana going to do? Import from Central and South America?
