Personally, I don't care for politics. Hell, I hate them. Especially the commercials. I'm mostly glad that's over. I guess I can say I'm glad that Moneybags Romney didn't win. Meh. 4 more years of lolchange.

I've seen people saying that they are happy that there will be no increase in taxes for the "middle class". They will be in for a rude awakening next year. "Obama care" along with something else (I'm not sure what exactly, but something is) will raise the taxes on practically everyone. Just wanted to throw that out there, because I saw a new thread about that.

I voted for Obama because I genuinely like the guy and believe he's the best candidate for the job. I'm at the point in my life that I have a greater understanding of politics and actually care about what the people that are voted to represent me stand for.

Rallenzone : Enough said? You didn't say anything about why he's a bad president. Regarding your first comment, how is Obama taking away our money?

legacyme3 : Stein wasn't even on your ballot? That's kinda sad... I thought Green Party was the most acknowledged independent parties.

I decided to go with Stein myself out of principle, even though I said earlier I'd vote Obama. I agreed with Stein's policies more and it's not like not voting for Obama was gonna do anything. My state's electoral college was going to give it to Obama no matter what I did. To prove the point, they gave the state to Obama IMMEDIATELY after the polls closed without any percentage reporting in yet.

I just had to watch and hope Romney didn't win it. It was nerve-racking early on since it was back-and-forth the whole time until the west coast's votes started to come in. Obama won by a fairly large margin in the end, but Romney was beating him most of the early goings and winning the popular vote until the very end.

Nope. We had Obama, Romney, Gary Johnson, and freaking Virgil Goode. It's a shame, but I did my part anyway.

patar4097 : That is exactly what people said when he was elected for his first term. Yet I got more on my tax return than I ever have before the past 4 years. Right now, there is nothing new being implemented to suddenly start taxing the middle class more. 'Obama Care' is not anything new, and that hasn't raised my taxes any. This will be confirmed again for me in April.

legacyme3 : Ours had Obama, Romney, Gary Johnson, Jill Stein, and Roseanne Barr o.O I didn't even know she was running until I saw the ballot... that was a definite "WTF" moment...

It seems like a lot of people who didn't vote Obama/Romney voted for Gary Johnson. I heard it several times. All the guys at SourceFed seemed to support him too. My problem with him though is that he seems a bit too... cynical... to be president.

rcarter2 : I agree. Obama's plans are more aimed at giving relief to the middle class than burden. Romney was more likely to place tax burden upon them in exchange for cuts to the wealthy. There will be SOME kind of tax increase due to ObamaCare since he wants to make it a healthcare tax that covers the plan... but as long as it's not too significant, I don't mind. It's a better alternative than forcing people to pay for health insurance regardless of whether or not they can afford it. That method would destroy the poor further. A tax on everyone to cover those who can't afford it sounds like a better way to go.

I would prefer it if Obama could find a way to decrease government spending and divert some of the saved money into paying for healthcare though. There's a lot of unnecessary spending in Washington that could be eliminated and used for stuff we actually need.

pacman1755 : Obama brought crucial change!
In fact, he was the one that switched us over to Digital TV! Biggestchangeevar.

Anyways, meh, politics.

Nothing has changed. Every president's plan now sounds more like pleasent sounding words than an actual plan.

God, is this what it has come down to?

Crazy Li : The original thought was that Romney would only give tax breaks to the wealthy like Bush did. We all thought that because he supported it before, and he never told us exactly what his plan was going to be until late in the game. But his real plan was no better. It was to give everyone a 20% break (wealthy, middle, and poverty). But that does us no good. I am not going to copy and paste my explanation, so just take a look at my long post at the end of this thread:
https://www.vizzed.com/boards/thread.php?id=49754&ppp=100&page=0#685593

TheNameWithNoNumbers : Two things. 1.) That was hardly the biggest change ever. Television viewing should hardly be considered one of the most important things done by a President. 2.) Obama had little to do with that. The National Association of Broadcasters was the driving force here. All Obama did there was signed his name to approve it (and also had to have it delayed, but for good reason).

rcarter2 : Well... he supposedly wanted to give everyone at 20% tax break. If he's really as good of a businessman as he claims to be, I doubt that's REALLY what he would have done. There's no way he could have believed that he would have any money in government to do anything like that. So we have a few different scenarios that could have happened:

1. He just doesn't stay true to his word and plays the tax game the same way Bush did
2. He actually gives the 20% tax cuts and to compensate, makes massive cuts in funding to things like education and welfare (though if he cut education funding, he'd be going back on his word to improve education)
3. He gives the 20% tax cuts without cutting government spending and drives the country even further into debt

My biggest problem with Romney was maybe that he was too vague about all his plans. He had a "5 point plan" or whatever and could name the points but not really elaborate on them or explain how he could balance the budget. His only argument was "Trust me. I know how to balance a budget." You hafta give me more than that because I don't know you and have no real reason to trust you. It's not like every business Bain Capital invested in was successful. There were a lot of businesses that he profited off of but ended up going bankrupt.

rcarter2 :
... There was sarcasm in the beginning of the post. I really don't even care about my quality of television. Hell, I'm fine with analog TV!

So yeah. Uh...

My true opinion on this is that Obama is mediocre, and Romney is bad. Thus, if I could vote, I'd vote for Obama.

20% Tax CUTS HERR DURR HERR

Expects not to severely harm the public sector

Doesn't do anything to debt

Sarcasm font would be awesome.

I am personally happy that Obama won. I think he was the better man for the job, plus I get to keep my rights. I am sorry, but the Republican party at this point, with all of those candidates for Congress making those comments about rape and still getting voted for, disgusts me. I am glad they all lost.

Cyro Xero : There were a few really offensive ones... Todd Akin's "victims of legitimate rape can't get pregnant", Richard Murdock's "if a woman gets pregnant from rape, God wanted it to happen" and a few others I forget offhand (Tom Smith of PA was one of them). If you google them I am certain you will find them all.

Cyro Xero : Yeah, they were bad. Akin's 'logic' was that women have a natural biological defense against getting pregnant from rape. He said that when a woman is getting 'legitimately' (he actually used that word) rapped, the woman's body will reject the attackers sperm and keep the egg from attaching. What a load of horse crap. What is worse is that he pretty much said that women who got pregnant from rape lied about being rapped. He constantly kept using the term 'legitimate' rape to emphasize that the only true rapes don't result in babies.

Elara :
rcarter2 :

I agree with you that the Republican party has become to "far right". What I find most upseting is that Akin got 1 Million votes despite the fact that he said those rape comments. Heck even Richard Mourdock lost by only 100,000 votes (seems like a lot, but in reality its actually quite small). I just don't understand how or why someone would still vote for that person despite their comments. I understand ignorance, but there is a limit.

Elara :
I don't think Obama is a good president, he sent back a bust of Winston Churchill to Britain, which is very offensive. He also has hurt the economy. On the other hand Romney might not have helped much either...

Yeah. That is pretty ignorant. Geez. I don't know where they got that info from. I'm not gonna get all scientific about rape and pregnancy, but it is very possible for that to happen. My ex-girlfriend from several years ago got pregnant from rape years prior to meeting me. The female body still works the same, whether under stress or not.
