Alex Kid in Shinobi World is an okay game, but like its predecessors. it has some problem that destroys all humanity. No not god awful controls, no barf inducing scenery. None of that, but difficulty. If you look beyond the hard difficulty then this game is what ALL the Alex Kid games needed to be. This game is pretty much Shinobi with Alex Kid slapped on to it, but don't let that fool you. This game is quite fun.

GAMEPLAY A-: If you looked at some of my reviews, you will notice that I enjoy action packed games and not slow tedious ones. Alex Kid in Miracle World required enormous patience and the games after that did. Then came this game. ITS THE DIRECT OPPOSITE OF THE REST OF THE ALEX KID GAMES!!!! I'm not kidding around, for once you can play as Alex Kid while beating the crap out of enemies! Its fun and challenging and there's a little strategy to go with it. The only problem is that part in level 2!! Alex Kid can do wall jumps in this while attacking. That's what the last part tests on. Is how you can break a big barrier of bricks while wall jumping while trying to break them. Its freaking insane!!!

GRAPHICS B: The graphics look quite good, the scenery is amazing and the best part is that there's little of those problems that old games seem to have, break up, slow down, and flickering. This game has none of that.

SOUND B+: The music of this game is just the original Shinobi music on freaking crack! Its awesome, it matches the intense gameplay really well. Also there's no god awful voice samples like the ones in Alex Kid: The Lost Stars.

ADDICTIVENESS B-: Despite the great gameplay for some reason I don't want to go back to this game again, there's nothing else to do once you beat it.

DEPTH C-: The game does contain nice stages, but why is there 4 main stages instead of 5 like in the original Shinobi. That's disappointing considering that this was released late in the Master Systems life time.

DIFFICULTY  HARD: There are frustrating parts of the game that make you want to pull you hair out. However the difficulty is not as bad as its predecessors

OVERALL RATING B-

Tips
1: When ever you see a treasure chest, open it with you sword, most of them have health.
2: During the wall jump/ brick breaking part in level 2. The way to beat the last part is the push button 1 and 2 simultaneously.

Upcoming reviews
Shinobi (SMS) Might come a bit later due to difficulty
Hydra (Atari Lynx)
Road Avenger (SCD)
Sonic Colors (DS)
Ghostbusters (NES) I know this game is bad. I played it so expect a negative review for this one.

Hey thanks for the tip that you put in your review, I also like to play action pack game, more than slow borings one. You always make good reviews no matter what.

I was going to do a review on this game when I seen yours. Very good review! I actually really like Alex Kidd in Shinobi world. The one thing I hate about the game is your short attack range. But its an awesome concept for a game, think about what it would have been like if Nintendo did something like that, Mario in Ninja Gaiden world lol but yea great review.

Decent review. Keep up the good work.

Personally I don't agree with grading a game down because of difficulty. It just sounds like a cop out to me.

I have played Alex Kid games and I don't find them horribly difficult, although I was raised on the NES/SNES/Genesis era so I guess I'm just used to it.
