About a week ago, I might have said the remake of Resident Evil for the GameCube. Until I finally played Clock Tower for the SNES.

The most frightening thing was, for the most part, the complete and utter silence broken only by Jennifer's footsteps down a long, dark, hallway. For 1995, the ambiance and visuals are pretty impressive.

A close second would be Splatterhouse 3. Having the monsters that you've been fighting for the first two games barge into your home and defile it has something disturbing to it. Also, play the game at midnight, with the lights off, get to stage 2, let the timer run down, and try to get THAT picture out of your head.

Mine would be the old Silent Hill games or,well,to be honest with you, the locker part in the school. What happens is you see a locker shaking ALOT so when you go to check it very slowly.......nothing in it so your walking back and then BOOM out of nowhere a body falls out of a locker!

The scariest game I have ever played is probably going to have to be Doom 3 for the regular XBOX. I don't really like playing scary stuff, but that was the only thing available to me at the time, and it was half-way scary. I almost pee'ed myself here and there.

The scariest game I played? Probably Drawn to Life. The game may seem cutesy at start, but the only thing that scares the Shotzos out of me is Wilfre. His theme song scares me and so does his up close appearance. I always turn the volume down every time I encounter him.

It's a tie between Clock tower for the PSX (actually a sequel to the snes game) and Clock Tower for the snes. Talk about freaky. Being locked in a building with a murderer Who's armed with shears is bad enough, but add to it the moments of Eerie silence as you wander around trying to find a way out without being impaled, and it gets worse. Lol Plus something about finding your friend hanging or seeing them be murdered while they beg you to save them can be rather unsettling as well. The latter perhaps a little too unsettling.

Hi,

For me, it was definitely dead space 2.
With good surround sound and in a dark room can be a few nice shock experience moments

I can recommend the game to everyone

UPDATE: Oh god, I made the mistake of playing SCP: Containment Breach, and that is definitely my new #1 scary game next to Amnesia: The Dark Descent.

The scariest game that I have ever played is Dead Space 2.  Now, I can tell you I was not expecting some of the things on that game even thought it is a Dead Space game.  Just how everything can surprise you is what scared me.  The game toys with your mind thinking that you're about to be jump scared, but you don't.  Right when you let your guard down, BAM!  There's a Necromorph right in front of you.  This game has brought joy and terror to my face.  Has anyone else played Dead Space 2?  -Xepheria

bman1683 : I just bought the suffering!! Is it really that scary? I have yet to play it.
And overall I'd say the scariest game I've ever played is Silent Hill 2. The sound effects are terrifying, and the atmosphere and enemy designs really get to you.

I haven't really played many horror games, but the scariest of the ones I have played must be the DS title "Nanashi no Game". It was never localized, but there is an English patch somewhere on the net. Anyway, it is a really good game, kinda confusing at times and the controls are a bit awkward, but it has a great story and is overall fun. If you like "The Ring" you'll probably enjoy Nanashi no Game aswell. :3
