An Arcade classic...

Ahh... The Olympic games, who hasn't watched one? Every 4 years, some of most and least know nations of the world get togheter only to participate of this big event. Many would wish be there to represent their countries. Some don't even care about them... However, In both ways. This event makes lots of money with merchadshing. And guess what?, Video games aren't the exception... Konami take advantage of the fame of this event and make a few Arcade games that later were ported to various systems... The most famous of those was "Track & Field" and the NES was between those systems... Today, I'm going to review "Track & Field" for the NES. So, sit down and enjoy!

Story: Well, the game doesn't have a story... It's just about getting the Qualify at all the events you must compite at... Something quite hard, but not impossible. (N/A)

Graphics: Nothing special here... Characters are all the same, the only difference on these is their Skin and clothes color... Besides that, they're exactly the same. Same hair, same mustache, same facial expressions, etc. At least you can easily tell that they're humans... Which is good. Backgrounds are pretty simple, you just see the people watching the event, the good thing is that it changes depending of the current sport you're on. (7/10)

Sound: It's good... Basically, the things you'll hear the most while playing are the SFX. However, there a few tracks: Like the title screen or Game Over themes. Simple, but quite catchy. About sound effects: Well, as you see, these try to emulate real world sounds... The result isn't very good. Just listen at the Athlete when running or when throwing some object. (7/10)

Addictiveness: It depends of how much you enjoy Olympic games and how much you like beating your own times and scores... If you like one or both of those things, you'll find this game addictive... If you hate those, and you just enjoy playing more complex games, then, You shall not enjoy of this title. In my opinion, it's addictive. (7/10)

Depth: Like the Olympics, the game is divided into different events, 8 in this case: 100 Meters Dash, Long jump, 110- Meters hurdles, Javelin throw, Skeet shooting, Triple Jump, Archery and High Jump... Most part of these are similar: To play them, you must mash A and B... Yes, you must mash A and B, that's how make the athlete run (To make it throw the object that is holding, or to make it jump, you must press Up) .Something quite repetitive. However, Skeet shooting and Archery are quite different, both of these requires concentration and exactitude when playing them. To get to the next event, we must qualify. For qualify, we only need to beat the current time or score. If we succeed, we go ahead, and if we don't succeed, Game Over... But, if you're lazy enough to do this, you can choose the event you want to start though the Menu that appears before starting the game. (8/10)

Difficulty: Not much of a difficult game, it can be quite hard at the beginning, but once you gain enough concentration and speed at pressing buttons, it becomes a piece of cake. (7/10)

As the Review's title says, this game is a classic between the Arcade games: Repetitive, but fun... Doesn't matter if you enjoyed it on the original machine or in your NES. It's still a classic... Just give it a try and you'll see.
