Mario meets MegaMan.

Who doesn't like Crossovers? Seeing the characters of your favorite video game saga sharing game with characters of your 2nd. Favorite saga, like battle partners... Joining forces to beat a major menace (or, the menaces of both sagas joining forces, just like our heroes) Well, this game isn't like that... But, it's something similar. Have you ever imagined a Megaman game, but with Mario or Luigi?. Both using their powers and skill to battle the Robot masters and their minions... Well, that's what this hack tries to show you. Mario Brothers facing one of the most well known Robot masters of the Megaman saga: Airman. Ladies and Gentlemen... Here's a review of SMB Vs. Airman. A very imaginative hack of Super Mario Bros for the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES).

Story: Well, as far I know, this game doesn't have a concrete story... I would bet that is all about Airman kidnapping Princess Peach and Mario and Luigi having the responsibility to rescue her... But, since we don't see any proof of that... There's no story. (N/A)

Graphics: Graphics are really good... As you see, it mixes the graphics from SMB with the Megaman 2 ones, and guess what? They fit one each other perfectly! It appears to be that this hack uses the graphic engines of both... Animations are the same from SMB and MM 2, simple, nothing amazing... But, quite good... Also, Some are even mixed! Just lead mini Mario to an Enemy and see his Death animation, it's amazing! (and fun to watch.) Background is,obviously, the Airman's stage from MM 2. With their clouds, glass blocks, and those faces with hands (or wings) on them. (8/10)

Sound: As usual, we're going to start with the music: The game doesn't have many tracks... You only listen: Death music, Ending, Death sound, Game Over, MM 2 Boss theme, and the tune that plays all the way until you face Airman, and that's all. Well, at least that tune sounds catchy and fitting with the Background and gameplay, all the SFX is from SMB... Mostly, some tunes that are unused (like the warp pipe sound) replaces some of the MM 2 SFX... At least they didn't mad a bad choice when replacing them. (9/10)

Addictiveness: In my opinion, this game is somewhat addictive... Playing all the way until you fight Airman is fun and enjoyable. However, there are some details that can change your decision of playing this hack again. But, nothing serious. (8/10)

Depth: Well, the game plays exactly like SMB... You can play as Mario or Luigi, both having their respective skills: Mario is easy to control, but he doesn't jump so high. Luigi jumps High, but he's quite harder to control... After making your choice, you'll be leaded to... A Robotmaster intro!. It even plays the original music, but using the SMB's instruments. You start the game like if you were playing World 1-1... Until, when you get to the 1st. Pit, one of those living Platforms (you know, those that have drills at both sides and that throws floating robot heads at you). As long you go on the game, you'll find more gimmicks from MM 2... Like the Spikes (and, oh, surprise! Those can Kill you instantaneously!) tornadoes, and the robots from the Stage itself. (7/10)

Difficulty: If you have experience on this thing of playing Mario hacks, you'll know that the most part of those are harder... And this one isn't the exception... Some of the enemies can give you big troubles, the traps of the stages are quite harder to avoid, you only have 400 seconds to end with the stage (which is a bit longer) and let's not talk about Airman itself... Without the Mega Buster, this guy is harder... Basically, the difficulty level is for compensate the game's duration. (8/10)

Final Rating: 8

In conclusion: Here, we have a really good hack... The fact that is only one level is quite disappointing, just imagine how cooler could have been playing the other stages of MM 2, and being able to using their weapons, but Mario "style"... Well, at least, you still can enjoy of the Airman's stage... I recommend this hack, just give it a try and you'll see...
