Before the time of downloadable content. People had to keep their NES to play the original Mario Bros. It was 1999, a time when 3D games were at full throttle, a time where computers were starting to be used, also a time were everybody freaked out about the Millennium. All of this does not mean that people still don't want to play Super Mario Bros. Then a game for people who wanted to play old school Mario came out called Super Mario Deluxe for the Game Boy Color. Not only did it give people the original Mario Bros, but also plenty of extras too. There's awards 3 game modes and even printable content that you can print out from the Game Boy printer! That's not all I'll make a list in the depth section.

STORY: It starts out in the Mushroom Kingdom where the Koopas. Evil turtles that are infamous for their evil magic. Took away the Princess and turned everybody into stone. Similar to the Alex Kid in Miracle World story but that has nothing to do with the story of this game. Anyway Mario a fat plumber ( which is my way of describing him) took notice and went on a mission. To save the princess and save the Mushroom people. For 7 of the castles he beats he will find a little freaky mushroom saying that the princess is in an other castle. Castle 8 contains the princess. Can Mario save the princess and save the Mushroom Kingdom? It's up to you!

GRAPHICS: The graphics look just like the original game. However the screen zoom in so much, that there is a lot of blind jumps. That's only a minor problem. You will still enjoy classic Mario on the Game Boy Color.

SOUND: The sound is exactly like the original too. Nothing wrong with this, it's perfect.

ADDICTIVENESS: Like the original. It's very hard to get off, no matter how many times you die and no matter how frustrated you get. You will be attached to this game. The added modes helps too. You'll be on for hours!

DEPTH: Like I said before this game has a lot to offer. Here are the following features of the game.

Original Super Mario Bros.

Map in the original mode.

The ability to save progress.

The ability to save your scores.

Vs mode were you challenge a friend with the Game Boy link cable.

Challenge Mode were you try to get 5 red coins you must beat levels in original mode to play them in the challenge mode.

Several awards for to receive while your out on your adventure. These awards are printable. I think it will only work on an actual Game Boy printer.

An unlockable mode for when you beat the game. I'm not going to tell you because it is a surprise.

A toy box with a calendar that goes all the way until the year 3000. You can mark dates for important events. Also there is a fortune teller thing that's supposed to tell your fortune by what card you pick.

DIFFICULTY: The game is a little easier than the original because you can save after every level. It's still difficult though.
OVERALL RATING 9!

I have played this personally and it is a very good game to play for the Gameboy Color. It looks exactly like the NES version and it doesn't destroy the game's heritage whatsoever.

I liked playing this game a lot because of the new things it had on it, like the "Vs Modes" and the Lost Levels mode as well. Nice review GameHead.
