If you had a kid and he/she would do something ......bad what would you give him/her as a  punishment?

for example i would make him watch his favorite music show  without the sound and he would have to sit there til it ends (P.S its 2 hours long)

I would force my bad child to listen to the Majora's Mask version of Ballad of the Wind Fish for and hour after listening to the original

Depends.... I usually would have what I call "The 3 strikes rule". I tell you once and you're off the hook. 2nd time results in a day of no tv/ video games.... 3rd day is a butt whooping AND 2 weeks of no TV/ Video Games. If it gets worse..... well let me assure you, it WON'T get worse. This rule only applies for reasonable stuff. If you did something idiotic like hitting a teacher or something, and we skip to a more extreme case of step 3. 

I have a little sister (4 at the moment) that I am usually the only adult around. I must say it's hard to punish your own child. Especially now with teachers intervening on how you raise your kid. I can't physically hurt her or use bad language. If I do they will take her away...

I had a time where my sister went nuts on me. She was playing with the cord of my head phones and trying to wrap it around her neck! I went and gently took it off her and kindly said that doing such a thing would result in choking and death and to not do it again. Well a minute went by with her just doing nothing. Then I went to rub her back like I usually do to calm her down and right then she clamped down onto my wrist with her teeth! I fought her off, pushed her onto the floor, and slammed the door behind me locking her in the room alone.

While she screamed and bashed her head against the door I went to her father in the living room and told him to get her home. I then bandaged myself up and went back to the room where my little sister was. I told her that I never wanted to see her or talk to her again unless she could learn to never hurt another person like that again. I picked her up and shoved her out of my house and closed the door behind me never looking back.

She still doesn't like to respect my athority but she has not ever hurt me again after that.

The best punishment is complete rejection. Kids hate it and they learn from it. If you yell at them or hit them they will love it. They might say they hate it but they do more bad things to get more of those reactions. Kids want attention from their parent's or care taker. Some kids don't even care if it's negative attention as long as they are getting attention. So to reject them is to show that, that behavior will get them no where.

Well, There's a lot of punishments I can imagine... Like taking away his/her Video games, Internet or the TV.

Also could be getting rid of some privileges... Don't ask what type of privileges. Just some privileges he/she could had.  

I'd say it depends, I think he best thing to do is if they are doing something bad nicely tell them to stop and if they don't listen they sit on their bed for 5 minutes if they continue the time gets longer and if they don't listen still after 3 times they stay there the rest of the night,only reason they'd come out is for food.

Old school belt to the flesh. Spare the rod, spoil the child. Always let your kids know you ain't playing. Then ground them with no TV, video games, only play they're allowed out of the house is school.

I would take my kid's video games, and iPod... basically... all their electronics... * I honestly do not want any children though. If the misses wants one, She'll get ONE, and that's it, but I personally don't want to have any kids*

I really don't punish my daughter. I say no and that is enough to make her cry. Most of the time I will just take toys and put her in time out.

Lmfao. I'm gonna have fun with this. My parents used to send me to bed early that pissed me off.But knowing todays children,No electronics! Ha! I am supreme. God im evil.

Well , if I had an kid I would stop them from playing video games
for 2 weeks . That's if they were into video game

If I had a child I will make sure they are raised correctly and that
they don't turn up to become no killer or anything like that .

Hmm well I could always be the perfect parent like my mom (total sarcasm by the way) ground the kid from everything no matter how tiny the thing they did wrong such as sleeping on the couch that's one month grounded get told to do something and do it 2 minutes later one month grounded sooner or later they might learn that making mistakes is for complete idiots and tell that kid that they're terrible and other parents kids are so much better then they are because instead of saying nothing like her kid does other kids curse at their parents and never listen to them and go out and party and get drunk and do drugs when I get in trouble for sleeping on a couch after a long day at school >.>
So yeah that's what I would do if I wanted to completely torture a kid it worked well on me

JSHF :  LOL... is that really your idea of a punishment!?  That seems highly ineffective to me, and more like a reward than anything else.  Are those the types of punishments kids get nowadays?  haha!

As for me, I fully intend to spank my children, ground them, or even take away their favorite objects if they misbehave.  There are a plethora of successful punishment techniques, but I think I'd use most of the ones my parents did. Their punishments were effective and usually did the job.

The only one I didn't really didn't think was effective was the one in which we had to write 100 sentences.  If we complained, it'd increase, sometimes reaching 500.  It was a rather pointless punishment that taught us nothing, however.

This is how I would punish them. I would take away all their electronics if they do something really bad or do really bad in school. I would hit them if they know it the wrong thing, but do it anyway or just do something stupid.

Depends on the age of the child.

I'd say post age 10, there's plenty of time out techniques. Set them in a really boring room for 1 times their age, then come in, tell them what they did wrong, tell them that they cannot do it, and ask for an apology. If they refuse, make them wait the same time again before coming in and rinse and repeat. (For very younger children, instead of a room, it'd be a corner, or a step, but still the same process)


For older children, maybe like teens. Well, I'm not obligated to let them use anything. All I have to provide them is food, clothes to wear, a place to sleep, comfort and that's it. You get what you deserve. That's how I role.

I don't find you need to spank children to discipline them. I'm against the idea anyways. Pain just tells you that you did something wrong. Not why what you did is wrong.

Now , I don't have kids yet .. But if i do , and they did some thing bad .. I will ground them for 1 week ( it depends on how big their sin was ) not allowing them to use the computer .
Here are some other examples :
1. I will give him / her 10 books about math and science and will let him / her read it all .. ( I will ask him / her 5 questions each book and if he / she gets a score lower than 4 , i will let him / her read it again and again until he / she perfects the questions )
2. He / She can't use his / her cell phone for 1 week - 1 month ..
3. I will not give him / her his / her monthly allowance ..

This is just some punishment i will give to my kids .. ( in the future , when i get kids )
