Would I REALLY have to make a choice? Honestly, I can't imagine EVER doing either.  I can hardly stomach the idea, but if I HAD to pick one, I guess I'd choose drinking.  But I would never get drunk, since in my opinion, getting drunk is sinful. (Not drinking, but getting drunk.)

Singelli : Rational thinking and reason definitely seems to go out the window in regard to drinking or at least it did in my case. I wasn’t a heavy drinker or anything but my tolerance was so low, maybe a beer or two tops is all it would take. I guess like I said I might be one of those people who just can’t drink. I wish I had the head on my shoulders that I do now back in my teens and early 20’s. Life would probably have been a little easier. I think of it as young, dumb, naïve, and simply immaturity. It isn’t worth it.

A person who smokes is usually addicted whilst a person who drinks isn't necessarily addicted. I do drink but very rarely so I doubt I will ever become addicted.

I smoke and I don't drink, so I guess that tells you everything you need to know.

I'd rather die of lung cancer eventually than die of liver poisoning right now. Plus, drinking leads to stupid decisions, fights, drunk driving, bad sex and accidental kids.

Honestly the people that are saying it's easier to quit drinking than quit smoking are so wrong. Do some research or talk to some alcoholics who ruined their lives. Not to mention those in jail because they killed someone drinking and driving, or other unspeakable things.

Sure smoking is horrible for you, but it doesn't ruin your life as it's going on. So even though it's killing you slowly you still can live a normal life (Theoretically)

Having been a smoker myself I know what it's like. I have been quit for a few years now and never looked back. My life is fine.

Jordanv78 :
I would say that alcohol generaly is easier to quit.
Nicotine is addictive no matter how many you smoke.
Alcohol it depends how much you drink.
I generaly drink once a week.
I can honestly say I could easily quit, I only drink in company, iv got alcohol siting in my room, gifts. Itl probably be there 6 months from now too unless I have friends over.
If i smoked once a week I think id be addicted (i dont smoke).

thenumberone : Well that's not always true. There are many people that allow alcohol to take over their lives. You could say increases in ANY activity also increases the possibility that you could become addicted to it. So I'm not sure what you are getting at. Just because it is easy for you to quit, doesn't mean that's the case for other people. Besides every person with a substance abuse problem says "They can quit anytime they want"

Having grown up with several abusive alcoholics in my family I can tell you first hand the effects it has in peoples lives. There is no doubt that it leads to destructive behavior in many people.

Being a former smoker myself, it was difficult to quit, sure, but it sure didn't ruin my life.

Also, if you smoked once a week generally that isn't considered "addicted" for most people. It's considered doing something in moderation.

Jordanv78 :
Im not arguing people dont allow it to take over there life, im saying I think as an overal percentage more smokers are addicted than drinkers.
And my point about if I smoked once a week is id be liable to increase, its harder to responsibly moderate.
I know plenty of alchoholics and smokers, however while I know people who could stop drinking easily I cant say the same for any smokers.

I both drink and smoke, I have a few beers every two weeks and smoke 20 a day.. If I did neither I would drink because smoking is more of an addiction, smoking also is much needed to calm or remain calm... The disadvantages of drinking some tend to get violent and such, or loving when not sober.

I am not old enough to do any of this stuff but I probably will in high school at parties but if I where to choose one it would be by far Drinking. If you can control the habit it wont kill you like smoking and doing drugs will.

I would choose and chose drinking: I can't stand smoke, it's like someone is spamming Smokescreen on me.

Smoking, especially in public, is just SUCH a turn off to me.

So, there's no way in heck I'll be caught smoking. That stuff makes me choke to death, almost literally, I have a problem with 2nd hand smoke!

That leaves me with one choice, drinking.

I wouldn't mind this at all, you know why? Because I'll be able to just, take the guys out to a bar and grab a cold one, talk to each other about how life is going, eat some pizza and hot wings while watching some stuff that just appears on the TVs there. Hang out and stuff, have a grand old time, heck, even make it a thing. "Meet up here at this bar every Saturday night so we can hang out, drink, and talk about our week." It'll keep me close to my good friends and provide me with something to look forward to every weekend instead of just doing nothing.

I wish I was a (do nasty stuff) addict. My friend went to prison for drugs, my uncle of lung cancer. My cousin was in a freak car crash while drunk with his friends, sister barely survives in her apartment because of her debt... I'll pass on these habits. But if I HAD to choose, it would have to be drinking. I can't stand the smell of smoke and I'm also an asthmatic
