Hey, I'll tell you what -I- think about it, in the mean time;
In terms of the original game: "BS Zelda no Densetsu: Inishie no Sekiban" is a pretty interesting take on remixing the "Link to the Past" formula. Gameplay-wise, if you like LttP then I highly recommend checking this out. Although it has a few gameplay engine tweaks here and there, the core game is largely the same, and most of the elements will give at least a slight sense of deja vu. In my opinion, in spite of the timer being a constant pressure on you, the overall difficulty is toned down compared to the standard retro Zelda formula much like the previous "BS Zelda" titles were.
If you ever have a chance to play the game with the original Soundlink audio (Not too likely, but at least we can arrange the music side of this), I recommend doing so, as it's the Satellaview-specific features of Sekiban that prevent it from feeling completely like a "Mission Pack Sequel" to Link to the Past.
On this ROM Hack: "Master Quest" is based on dungeon designs by Duke and Con that were made for the "Restoration" Ancient Stone Tablets hack before there were any reference materials on restoring the original map layouts proper. Wanting to keep these around in some form, they made this new hack based around them. The dungeons have more traps and the enemies are tougher, and there's some other slight shifts, but overall the hack has most of the sames done to it the "Restoration" has; Along with the various modifications to restore the indoors and fix glitches, the "sublines" give story context based on the original Soundlink audio, and the "Link to the Past" SPC music has been returned to the game.
As of current, my main personal beef with the patches is in some alterations done in the ending sequences for each episode, which replaces the original animated cutscenes with still picture slideshows. I feel this is a very sloppily-executed hack and I know Con can do better than this, so I hope a future update restores the original cutscenes. If you're new to the BS Zeldas, however, it's possible you may not notice this.
I recommend you play the initial "Ancient Stone Tablets" Restoration before playing this, as it's both the "initial" version in terms of BS Zelda representation and is easier to play.
