I was just curious if anyone has pre-ordered RPG Maker VX Ace or is planning on purchasing it? Or maybe even aware of it? lol

I've tried the trial version that Enterbrain released in November or December, it really is only an upgrade to RPG Maker VX. It has better music, still has the scripting system(which I have never used), and many functions and event short cuts that make a generic RPG better, like the caterpillar system(characters following each other), having many characters in the party and can switch them outside of battles... It simply has many functions that save time and effort. I remember the tilesets for maps being limited to 5 within a map, but now the Ace version has gone back to when you can put nearly an unlimited set. Personally I've never had an issue with the past limitations, but for the more hardcore of creators it posed a problem. One thing that is neat is that you can choose where the shadowing will be located, whether on the right or left side of a building, none at all, or even add some at random spots on the map. Another thing that is awesome is that there is a character face maker, there's a lot of skin, eyes, hair, face types to go through, there's even a randomize face button if you're lazy, but the face can only be shown from the front instead of being shown from the side(which is a shame).

I'm sure there are other awesome functions there that I'm missing, but anyway the pre-order price is $75(you can get a bunch of goodies with it) until the release on March 15th, and then the price will be $90. I'm not sure if it's against the rules to post the website to purchase something. But I can PM the link for it if someone is interested, the link was pretty elusive to find. lol

Sounds pretty cool I'll have to check this out sometime. I say go ahead and post the link, as long as it's not to another forum it should be fine. Not that I'm obtaining a version legally I haz no moneys for it.

i just found out about this, so i'm a little behind on such things.
the coolest feature i've heard about is the expansion to the tileset limit from the previous version of vx.
90 dollars is a hefty price tag too, but considering there is a limited audience for the software it makes sense why they want to charge so much.
however, it will take me quite a bit of time to set aside money for an item like this, considering it's not very high on my list of priorities.
that's to bad, but maybe i will be able to eventually get around to purchasing it.
i first got into these types of programs with the psx rpg maker, then rpg maker 2 + 3 for ps2, and purchased vx a little while after it came out.
i have worked on games using each program a little here, and a little there, over the years as a hobby, but have never completed a game to this day.
i usually wind up abandoning the projects due to lack of time to sacrifice, with work and family which is far more important.
