Both of these shows are equally my favorite. Both are made by the same guy, Chuck Lorre, whom I greatly admire because of the creation of these two hilarious sitcoms.

Which is your favorite? And why?

I go for Big Bang Theory it's funny and educational at times, I used to like Two and a Half Men but ever since Charlie Sheen left I stopped watching it.

But I will answer in saying Big Bang Theory trumps 2 and a Half Men on all levels. I can't even force myself to laugh at that show. I just don't get any humor from it. Big Bang is hilarious.

I'd go with Big Bang Theory, but only (like mike said earlier) because Charlie Sheen is no longer part of the cast. He "made" the show what it was in my opinion. Both are great sitcoms.

Global Mods: What is the Rule regarding A vs B threads then?

As far as I know...

Rule A versus Rule B threads can be allowed if there's room for thought in the discussion.

I made a rule in the VPFC (a rented forum) that there would be no more A versus B threads in there because too many people made threads like "CHIMCHAR VERSUS TORCHIC" and "BIDOOF VERSUS RATTATA"

There is a line where a A versus B thread becomes spammy, and several of them crossed the line.

This one however is not spammy, so I suggest leaving it open.

My apologies Zeldistaster. To contribute a little more on my opinion of the shows, I just always felt that I had heard all the jokes 2 and a Half Men many times. It seems like very forced humor to me. Big Bang is so unique and the humor is something I have never seen before. It is actually very sophisticated humor presented in a way for everyone to enjoy. But being a biology teacher (at least soon I will be), the also have a different appreciation for the jokes

Well now that that's done, anyone else have an opinion about the shows?

Although I like the Sheen seasons of Two and a half Men, nothing beats The Big Bang Theory. That show always cracks me up. It's by far my favorite show on TV right now.

The Big Bang Theory vs. Two and a Half Men...  I'm at a bit of a stand off here.  Both cater to my vast sense of humour.  

I sometimes love intelligent jokes and remarks that the cast of big bang throw at each other during the series and how they all grow(and sometimes fall) as characters.  Some fans of the show(people I know in real life and online) would say that the character of Sheldon is more boring now that he has a girlfriend and same thing for Howard used to being a pervy bachelor who couldn't get women and now he's engaged to be married with a very sweet girl that has a promising career, but the character isn't as "wild" now that he plans on tying the knot... I would also hate to see Howard "slipping" and cheating on Bernadette(or vice-versa) otherwise this hilarious sitcom would just turn into a sh*tty teen soap.  I do imagine the show would end once Raj ends up in a relationship and can finally talk to women, Howard marrying Bernadette, Sheldon caving in to perform "coitus"(rofl love that word) with Amy, and Leonard and Penny finally getting their relationship together with her landing a great movie role. 

As for Two and a Half Men, their dirty humour is fantastic! Everyone(fans and writers) of the show probably wanted to make Charlie and Rose end up marrying each other and Alan winning the lottery or something, but with Charlie Sheen out of the picture, nobody knows where the end will end up.  People are starting to warm up to the fact that Ashton Kutcher is the replacement for Charlie Sheen, but things that are obvious in the newer season are; Jake is now a pothead(I saw this coming) and the character of Alan is slowly being butchered to being pathetic it's almost too much to bear. The character of Evelyn is non-existent because it seems that without Charlie, Alan and his mother have nothing in common, same goes for Berta(although she does appear sometimes to sexually molest Walden with her eyes).  Everything that made Two and a Half Men what it is, is no longer there.  Chuck Lorre should just finish Two and a Half Men and start a new sitcom if he loves using Ashton Kutcher so much in my opinion.

Since you are talking about Big Bang vs. Men(old season), I'd have to go with Men. But post-Charlie Sheen, I'd go with the Bang.

Hmm if I had to choose, it would be the Big Bang Theory, since I'm more familiar to it than I am with Two And a Half men.

Big Bang Theory is very funny, so is Two and a Half men. But since they got rid of Charlie Sheen, Two and a Half Men got stale, so I'll say Big Bang Theory. I enjoy that show, I always have a good laugh.

I've seen Big Band Theory, but not Two and a Half Men.

I guess that logic dictates I vote for BBT as it was pretty funny.

Big bang theory is really good and so is two and a half men.
I've always had good laughs watching them, but I like big bang theory just a bit better.

I was never actually a fan of Two and a Half Men, but I love The Big Bang Theory. I guess as a computer science major who's surrounded by nerds on a regular basis (not really a bad thing), I can relate to that show more easily.

Although the Sheen seasons of Two and a Half Men are funny, it really doesn't compare (In my opinion) to the hilarity of the Big Bang Theory. That show is consistently funny.

I say Big Bang Theory because of one word.Bazinga!
