So i play a lot of NDs game - And i mean a LOT - And i wanted to know, what your guys and girls favorite stragety/turn based game is

Mine is obviously Final Fantasy Tactics A2 : Grimoire of the rift.
I hope you guys know this game as well, but i'ma give a little review about this

It begins with this boy, who is in school. It is almsot summer vacation, and he has detention.

His teacher sends him to help clean the biblary, When suddenly he finds a book and a music box.
He then opens the music box, and looks through the book.

Then...there is this strange vortex and he gets teleported to a whole new world, where he stumbles across a giant chicken monster thingy.

This is when he meets Cid,(A bangaa) That was fighting it for a quest.(Which is where clans get money for)

After the battle, Cid asks The boy to join his clan, and this is where the story really begins

You do all kinds of quests, in turn-based combat style. You level up, find new party members, and try to reveal the secret of the book and try to get back to the normal book...

I really love this game, and i hope my little review helped you a bit.

So, now i hope you guys will tell me about your fav turn based/strategy games...

Oops, looka t the Time! I have been rambling on and on, well speak you guys soon, Bye!!!

Dudemeister; If you like FFTA2, you should definitely play the original Final Fantasy Tactics. If you have a PS3 or PSP, it's easy to buy it off the PSN store. (finding an original copy for the PSX will be very expensive...)

Ahem.
Easily and hands down, my favourite strategy game on the NDS would be Advance Wars: Days of Ruin.

I'd played the previous Advance Wars (sans Black Hole Rising), and kind of enjoyed them, but they never really clicked with me. Something about sending waves of soldiers and tanks into battle to mercilessly slaughter each other while child commanders are laughing like it's some kind of game.... There was a disconnect there I just couldn't get behind.

Then I played Days of Ruin, and ooooh the love, it was there.

Fantastic characters that are fleshed out and given so much depth, wonderful campaign missions that always have just the right amount of challenge (except the last few, which can get hair-pulling) and the music.... Amazing music!

The gameplay, which has always been a tiny bit wonky to me in the old games, has been refined to a mirror polish. There's strong units, but always a way to counter them. Being slow and strategic with long range works excellently, or going on a mad tank rush has benefits too. (or both at once for a mad Blitzkrieg)

It's all so satisfying. Easily in my top three favourite overall DS games.

Actually...I have played another FFT, For the gba, i loved that 1 too, but then eery time my save data got corrupted. So yeah...

Also, Advance wars is a good franchise too, i like the idea of making tactical moves in modern days with tanks, infantry, and that kind of stuff. I never got far with Days of ruin, but i liked it nonethless, i DID beat Dual strike though(With massive cheats)

Oh, back in the days, i always used cheats on my TTDS and R4 cartridge, but not anymore, cheats ruin LOTS of fun.

Anyway, thanks for your reply ^^

I just got Final Fantasy Tactics A2 recently, so I haven't actually played much of it. I have played Final Fantasy Tactics Advance though, and I guess A2 is kind of like a sequel to that one? Same general game play at least, with some different classes and such, I think? I've never played the original Final Fantasy Tactics though, so it might be worthwhile to try and get it from the PlayStation Store next time I'm at home. Other than that though I think the only turn-based strategy game I have for the DS is Civilization Revolution, which I don't really like as much as the other Civilization games I've played, I guess it was simplified for the DS? I don't know. I do like the Final Fantasy Tactics series from what I've played of it, and I would be tempted to say I liked it best if only I had actually played past the very first part.

I never played Days of Ruin but I love the Advance Wars series. I play the first Advance Wars a tonne, but I never got into the second one that much. It was just such a shame that they made Nell ugly. XD

But I loved Dual Strike, and always wanted to be able to play online. I just couldn't afford Days of Ruin when it came out, and then I sort of forgot about it. But I'm glad this thread reminded me, I'll probably go out and buy it when taxes come back. But I've got to agree with Argus. I never cared for any of the commanders except for Olaf, because they just seemed like silly little kids who couldn't have been very good at anything, let alone knowing how to command all of their soldiers. My favorite country was always Green Earth.

Also, I never played Final Fantasy Tactics A2, but I loved the first Tactics Advance. I pumped so many hours into that game. I eventually stopped trying to progress the story because I was just having more fun playing the game than the story gave me.

Last Christmas I got Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions for PSP, and found that despite how great the other games were, this one was an absolute chore to play. I hated all of the characters, the story was extremely unappealing, and the battles were so slow as to be boring. It just wasn't as good.

Hey, has anyone here played any of the Shining Force games? I haven't played them for a long time, but way back before Final Fantasy Tactics was released, I used to love these games and play them for hours.

Lazlo Falconi : Olaf and Grit were always my favourite original Advance Wars CO's. Calling a snowstorm on top of a battlefield sounds like my kind of power.
Though, keep in mind: Days of Ruin is new thing; none of the old characters are in it, and it's meant to be taken seriously. It's easy to do so, as it's very well made, but it's a very different tone from the original games.

Also: War of the Lions is a terrible port. The slowdown absolutely kills it completely. Damn near unplayable. The original on PSX goes at a much faster clip.
That, and the story is a bit too grand to appeal at the beginning. The protagonist is very boring, and the best parts of the story come later on, when stuff hits the fan, and the politics that occur behind the scenes between the two countries and the machinators pulling the strings. THAT'S when the story gets amazing.

Those are swome sweet games ^^

I actually have shining force for my GBAcartridge, but i forgot, thanks for reminding.

Also, Lazlo, I'm glad the others and my thread helped you remember about Days of Ruin, that truly is an amazing game.

Also, for another sort of turn-based game i liked, Pokemon mystery dungeon: Explorers of Darkness...

I have always liked the idea of being a pokemon in blue rescue team, but the sequel is amazing as well .

If it wasn't limited to the DS, I'd have much better games as my choices. Sadly, I only own a few games for the DS, and out of them, there's only one I would consider a turn based game, albeit a tad lacking in strategy.

I'm talking about Final Fantasy III, the DS port. I've never even gotten that far in it, I think my best save on it is in the upper 20's in level. I have much better games for my other systems, my favorite having already been mentioned earlier for the PSX.

silverthundr : I would kind of indirectly call the original NES version of FFIII a turn based strategy game, as it IS turn based, and if you don't have a solid team with strong weapons and spells used strategically, you WILL die. (Brutal, brutal difficulty) The DS version is still a bit hard, but still much easier.

Has any of you guys played Panzer Tactics DS? It's kind of a remake of the old Panzer General games for the PC (somewhere back in the nineties). It can be a bit boring and tedious at times, but it's a pretty good game overall.
