Wario seems to be doing very well for himself. From being the final boss in a Mario game, to having his own games, and now this: WarioWare Inc. It seems that ideas for Wario games are as limitless as the Mario ones, only if Mario were to star in this sort of game; it would seem like a sell-out. With Wario, it makes sense, due to his everlasting thirst for money. This works both ways, as I don’t expect that seeing Wario in “Super Mario Galaxy” would be very pleasing to the eye. Then again, you never know, he seems to get everywhere. But I digress, this is WarioWare Inc for the GBA.

The story is that Wario is sitting in front of his TV watching.....some show I have yet to hear about, when suddenly, there is a news report on the latest game being released for the GBA SP, Pyoro I think it was called. This gives Wario an idea, to create his own gaming company!......*palm to forehead* Of course. What else could it have possibly been? Well, Wario gets a computer and starts programming. Sadly, Wario has the attention span less of that of a tea-spoon, and began to fall asleep after seconds of work, so he starts to call his friends for help......*palm to forehead* Of course. lets just throw in a bunch of characters in that we have never heard of, shall we? Well, I can't say I'm not surprised...

We have several different types here for Wario's friends. Jimmy, the sports enthusiast, Mona, the fashion girl, Dribble and Spit, the....mechanics? Why do I sound surprised at that? Well, they are a cat and a dog, mind you. Anyway, we have 9-Volt, the hard-core gamer, whose talents lie in retro gaming (a man after my own heart), Kat and Anna, a couple of Ninjas, Dr Crygor, some cyborg doctor person thing.....man, and Orbulon, who is some white alien from a distant plant. Why this is Wario's friend I do not know. Those are the ones I remember, but I am pretty sure there are a few more in this game. They live in a place called "Diamond City".

So now you get to play the game. You have to play a set of games related to that person, no wait, not games, but mini-games instead. No wait, they aren't big enough to be called mini-games. Yeah, we're talking smaller than mini-games here, these, my friend, are called micro-games. You won't get shorter or smaller games than micro-games. You play a series of these micro-games with a theme. You start off with Wario, but soon after, you will get lots of different characters to choose from. These games could not be more simple. Any more simpler and they wouldn't be classed as a game, or at the very least, not a fun game. All you have to do is follow the instructions the micro game tells you, normaly one to three words. That's only part of the fun, you have to work out what you have to do, what buttons to press, when you have to press them, and complete the task at hand within five seconds, with only four lives. This is what makes this game so unique. It's a constant barrage of short games in which you have barely enough time to  work out what to do, but you can do it just in time (about half the time if it's your first time).

After a few micro-games, the game steps up the speed, and you have to play faster. Then you get to a boss stage, which is longer and harder than the micro games. So does that make it a mini-game? Or maybe it makes it a micro-mini-game.....I don't know. Normally, clearing one of these boss stages grants you an extra live, but if it's your first time, then yhe game ends, and you are rewarded with a cut-scene, a conclusion to the story you saw before you played that character. if you thought the game play was crazy, then it gets even more bizarre when you play the same character again. After the boss stage, the game steps up the level by one, so any micro-game you encounter now will be a little harder, weather it's due to hitting more space-ships, or have more cars  to dodge. If you can survive that, then you'll move up to level three, the highest level there is. Whats' after level 3? An increase in speed, and then it'll only get faster and faster after every boss stage, or until you run out of lives.

You can play just one micro-game in particular on the Grid Mode. You can play any micro-game here that you have played already. If you reach a certain score in that micro-game (listed in the micro-game description), you get a Rose Medal. Something nice happens if you get a Rose Medal on every micro-game, but I'm not telling >=D      Some are surprisingly hard to get the certain score, while some are really easy. Some micro-games are just cruel. Lets take the jumping over cars one from the Wario Theme. All you have to do is press A to jump over the car, but in level two or three, the cars could jump, or stop for a moment, making you jump right on top of them, while some even stop, turn around and drive off. I know, I only saw that happen once. I got to the stage when I was just pressing A at random, at level 40, in which was going so fast there was no time to comprehend what was going on. I thought I could do it with my eyes closed, but I lost my last life then =c

If you get a certain score on some characters (or even just clear them for the first time), you can unlock a mini-game, such as a jump rope game and.....Dr Wario? Just taking the Dr. Mario game for the NES and replacing it with Wario. But would this be considered a mini game? I mean, back then, Dr. Mario was a great puzzle game. Now is it a full game, or just some puzzle mini-game? Probably the latter. The Dr. Wario game seems to be the same as the NES Dr. Mario, only you have Wario instead of Mario, and you can't choose the music "fever" or "chilled", which is a disappointment.

My favorite character has to be 9-Volt. His theme is retro Nintendo games, and probably has every Nintendo console. Truly a man after my own heart. It's amazing to have the feeling of nostalgia for a few brief seconds and then be brought with another memory from the past. Some I didn't even expect to see, such as Urban Champion and that Mario Bros. game for the Virtual Boy. It's almost as if they are trying to bring these games back in a better light. Trust me when I say this Urban Champion micro-game is almost like the entire game rolled into 5 seconds. Play it in Grid Mode and you have yourself pretty much a copy of the game. But I digress what I am more concerned about is 9-Volts biased opinion to Nintendo games (and I swear that one of them is from an Atari 2600 game). I love how 9-Volt calls Urban Champion a "golden 8-bit moment" not that I disagree, but many people will find it a hard time believing that.

Overall, I give this game a 9.3/10      It's a very nice collection of short bursts of craziness. Anyone looking for something different will find huge variety here, and it'll be over faster than you know it. The music might be a bit muddled, but knows how to make the correct mood for a five second game. The graphics are also nice, but nothing special. I think that the animation during the cut-scenes could have been done better, in fact. It all adds up to a charming game that will doubtlessly spark a new series of micro-gaming mayhem. Maybe this is what type of game Wario is meant for, no doubt-ably they will star him in new games in the future, but I think this will be his resting point if all else fails.

WarioWare is an amazing game because of the fast paced action that lies in all the micro-game action! And I'll agree, 9-Volt is my favorite stage to play because of all the wonderful 8-bit nostalgia. It's fun just playing games for 5 seconds like that. x3 I love how they still kept the gameplay from some of the games, like the original Legend of Zelda.

Man, this game is pretty awesome. I've played Mega Party Games, which I heard was a Gamecube port of this game. I loved playing all of the 9-volt segments, I reekd nostalgia because of that. WAsn't there a mini-game where all you have to do is make Link go inside a cave? XD

Good review, as always.
