Overall - 7

Power Blade on the NES is one of those games that people do not know much about or never have seen this game before.  When I tried playing this game, my first thought was that it was somewhat similar to Mega Man and Castlevania on the NES too.  It was just like that, only a more violent game than Mega Man.  This game is, in some way, good, but there are some things in the game that are just not fun.  Power Blade has a sequel and it is much like the same thing, only a little different.  Power Blade was a game that never became popular.  In some sort of way, the graphics make the game look fun, but while playing it, it seems to be surprising to what it is.  I guarantee you that this game might be worth playing.

Graphics - 8

The graphics, like I said, look good.  A little better than Mega Man, but not as better than Castlevania.  The levels look so amazing and the effects are very good.  The game plays as Mega Man and Castevania NES games, so you would expect what the effects would look like.

Sound - 7

The sound is very interesting to hear.  The background music in the game sound good because it is not sounding like Mario, Mega Man, or even Legend of Zelda.  The sound effects are very good.  They are sort of compared to Castlevania.  It is not bad for an NES game.

Addictiveness - 4

Power Blade is one of those games that I do not seem to be very good at, but the game itself is not that bad of a game.  The game has some things that interests me to play the game and some that I just cannot stand.

Story - N/A

The story seems to be confusing to me.  It is the year 2191 and it has something to do with the New Earth having this machine.  The point of the story is that you fight your way through the Control Center, destroy the Master Computer, and save society.

Depth - 5

The game has a little to offer.  On Mega Man, there was not a lot to offer because there were only about 5 stages and you could get their suits and use them.  In this game, it would be like Castlevania.  For instance, you can increase your range of the weapon you use, which can really help you in the game.  Another thing is that the controls are just like Castlevania, which is a lot better than Mega Man since you cannot shoot diagonal.  There are items in the game that can help you like health and upgrades on your weapon (like I said).  This is a lot of things that you would want to expect in an NES game.

Difficulty - 5

The game is somewhat hard.  Kind of like a 50/50 if you are good at these kinds of games.  The hard thing about this game is that if you fall into a pit, you lose.  Now that is understandable in games like Super Mario Bros and Mega Man, but in this game, you can die by just falling in a pit on the second floor.  Another thing is that if you die, you lose all of your upgrades and have to start over getting them.  It can be a pain to lose all the things you got for your weapon to be stronger, but it is what the game plays as.  Other than that, the enemies are fairly okay to beat and the levels are not that hard.

Wrap Things Up...

Power Blade is an interesting game to play.  I recommend trying this game out if you have not already.  I guarantee you that the game will be fun for you if you like violent games.

I have just completed Power Blade on the Normal/Easy setting.

The music is pretty damn good.  Each level has a different score and increases in difficulty quite nicely.
On hard setting you just have less time (the clock on easy is set at 999 and at about 250 for hard).
This can make things a little trickier if you are heading for a 100% on the items (although this is only for the power suit which are pretty useless in the long run).

Is it Metroidvania???.... maybe a little, but the maps/items are pretty simple in comparison.

The end bosses are all too easy but the continue function is a must ;-)
