Are the prices raising where you live? I don't really notice but everything else is, gas, food, rent... Hopefully games stay at $50 new or I won't bother paying. That's why I get everything from ebay for cheaper

Yeah it doesn't hurt to buy used games unless it's a game that you really want in mint condition.

I think new 360 games over here are $60-$65 each (If it has a massive hype)

All other ones, I don't really pay attention to.

I haven't seen any XBox 360 or PS3 game go over $60 yet except for Rock Band and Guitar Hero (but those come with stuff). I've seen a ton of 360 games for under $30 new though, ones that have been out for a few months or a year, same with PS3.

The one thing I'm glad with are DS game prices.

The higher the price means either the higher the hype (you can tell) or the better the game.

The prices of DS games (new) here are 25-35 each, and one game (I don't remember which) was 40 because it was extremely awesome and hyped (though I didn't buy it, I know this). The price for that went down in a week though.

That would be Final Fantasy Cristal Chronicles: Ring of Fates. That game was worth it. It is awesome.

By the way, it has nothing to deal with the overly long ff series with all the I's and V's and X's

I think there are some games that SEEM to cost more as they seem like cash-ins. Dot Hack could have been one 120 hour-long game, but Namco Bandai decided to cash in more by splitting it up into 3 "volumes". Fun game, but $120 for all of them? No, thanks.

The original four .hack// games were $160 all together.

I think everything is too expensive in the U.S. due to inflation.

New DS games, I think, have an acceptable price.
New Console games are expensive.
New PC games are even more so for some reason.

It seems that the cheaper the system, the cheaper the game.
PS3 at 500 dollars? How can I afford the system AND games?
When I got a Wii, I got the Wii Sports and one game, and that was it. Why? My mother who works in IT could not afford a 400 dollar WII, more than one $40-$50 game, and groceries and gas for the month. My mom spent more money in that month than my dad spent on her wedding ring, which was 3 months salary (in human resources).

That's my two cents.

Yeah, and new PC games are a gamble of whether or not they'll work.
If they don't, it's more than 50% chance that you're not getting a refund.

And also, I agree with you about the new consoles + their games prices.
Inflation sucks lots.

That's a $10 difference for One entire game.
(G.U. = 3 games, IMOQ = 4 games)

Yeah, but cartridges are a more expensive format. The way I understand it, that's why the industry switched to CDs, despite their lag in comparison. I don't think the price for CD or DVD format should ever get that high.

Also, $50 - 70 USD 8 years ago is probably like $55 - 95 now (allowing for variance because it's just an estimate), unless I'm mistaken.

About PC games:
I got Age of Empires III Gold Edition. The third disk had a smudge the size of Alaska on it straight out of the case. I runned the game after install and it crashed. I then uninstalled it, but it failed to uninstall properly, so I just deleted the folder. However, my computer still had one of the libraries on it. I traded the game in at a gamestop in the next town over (the ruined copy was the last one at the local gamestop), and re-installed it. However, the expansion pack was completely unable to be uninstalled, and therefore, re-installed. I cannot play it on my laptop, so I have to play it on the family computer (which is quite low-end compared to my laptop). I would have just returned it and got a $70 refund were it not for Gamestop's no PC game refunds policy.

$70 I can never recover for a game I played nonstop for a week then forgot I had it.

Scary enough, game sales are a big part of the economy. So, if the prices drop for some games the prices for new games will be even higher.

Example:
a gamer economy works through time; old games have markdowns while new games have extremely high prices.

Final Fantasy 12: $19.99
Halo 3 Legendary: $99.99

Get it? It's not really that the games are too expensive, it's actually the supply and demand factor about it all. 2 years after FFXII hits stores nobody really wants to buy it anymore. But, since Halo 3 is out and the legendary edition comes with so much awesome stuff, the industry KNOWS people will sucker up the cash for the bundle rather than go buy a budget game.

The price of video games is absolutely crazy. They cost hardly anything to produce and then they are sold for around €60. When will the customer stop getting screwed?

They cost to much to me I mean come on the system costs you about $400 so the games should cost about $40 AT LEAST but they only rise oh well.
