Well Wal-Mart is overall cheaper than Target, Wal-Mart is also where I shop but Target has their clearance deals sometimes and you can find games for pretty cheap (usually older games though).

I like older games though, they're usually cheaper

Yeah and the fact that almost everything is backward compatible, that makes it so much nicer for when you buy older games.

I play my GBA games on my DS, I play my XBox games on my 360, and now that I sold my GameCube, I now play my game cube games on my Wii - just makes more sense to me to just get rid of the older system which contain games that are backward compatible to the newer systems. I did have to keep my Game Boy Advance though because the DS unfortunetly doesn't play Game Boy or Game Boy Color games.

EDIT: And I never got around to purchasing a PS2 because by the time I was considering it, I just figured I'd wait for the PS3 to come out since it's backward compatible with PS2 games (and my dad owns a ps2 so any time i really wanted to play a game i just used his).

Yeah, I like Ps2, and I was mad when mine broke. Getting another soon.

Well, with the virtual memory card, one can now at least save ps1 games.

Many of them work, but quite a few games have strange glitches (You have no idea how an old Resident Evil looks scaled up to higher resolution on the PS3)

Of course, I can't really comment that much, as don't own one. I did hear that older Ps1 games (such as FF7) does work, and as I said, with the virutal memory card option, it's bound to be okay.

Though, I heard the region free option of the PS3 only applies to PS3 games, so playing older out/region games will be impossible, and you should keep old consoles for this if you have some.

I hope PS3 works for all my old PS1 games. Some of my friends who owns a PS3 isn't quite happy.

Of course, that could just be because old games look really wierd on your HD output tv. =P

Do PS2 games work fine on the PS3? Because I don't ever plan to buy a PS2 but will just wait for the PS3 but I do of course own the PS1 (who doesn't?).

About a year ago I went to go play a playstation game and I can't believe how outdated the games look. After a few hours of game play you get use to it again but if you go from playing an Xbox or an Xbox 360 game to playing the Playstation, it takes a while to get use to.

The PS3 has a problem with PS2 games; they will play fine, but the graphics are really bad compared to using a PS2 for the games. It's because they just slapped together the backwards compatibility for the games, ultimately making the graphics actually PS1-esque. They have side-to-side comparisons on YouTube.

I think it says they made a small attempt at fixing it... which at least means they are starting to slowly address the problem. Keep in mind its really not Sony's fault. Fans just kept pushing and pushing them to release the PS3 as fast as possible. Sony actually loses money when you buy a PS3 so for them to even apply any updates to it just shows how hard they work. Most people talk about the Wii being very "innovative" but all it scrap up old equipment and make it look fancy to be honest. The PS3 uses a brand new disc format and paid for the development of a new kind of processor. The PS3 is in all actuality much more innovative then the Wii so to be honest a PS3's is far more justified then a Wii's.

The old technology I am talking about btw. A Wii mote is basically one of those arcade guns that never stop shooting. The Censer bar is just 2 light sources so the Wii mote can sense where to place the pointer. It has very little hard drive capacity compared to either of the two next gens(512 mbs). Its only has a 729 Mhz processor(now i know its specially made for gaming but still). 64 Mbs of ram. And the GPU(The graphis) is an almost identical card to the GCs but is 1.5x faster. Now of course listing the specs of gaming machine makes it seem like nothing but to be the honest, the Wii's hardware isn't worth the money compared to the other 2 systems.

Don't forget the XBox 360 though, that's just as impressive as the PS3 and Microsoft also loses lots of money on every XBox 360 that gets developed.

I agree with what you say about the Wii, and honestly, it's probably not even worth $250 BUT that doesn't mean it sucks, it's got a few really awsome games and the Wiimote Technology is really expensive. If you were to buy something like that for the computer, it'd be well over US $100.

My thing was more about innovation. Which the X-box 360 didn't do much. And As for the money I'd say X-Box is more dollar for dollar then Microsoft losing money on it. To be honest. Microsoft has brought the least of ANY company to bringing something new to the gaming world.

True but it's the games that matter and on average, Xbox 360 has the highest rated games than the PS3 and Wii. Xbox 360 has like 20+ games rated over a 9, PS3 has maybe 10 at most and the Wii has like 5.

Compared to gas and other things? Not even close.
