I definitely think that there should be. They have left "The Demon Castle Wars" unanswered, and Galamoth is a perfect antagonist that they could use. As far as genre goes, I would say adventure/rpg like newer ones, but with some changes.

First of all, I think they should improve their graphics. I love all of the Castlevania games' graphics, but with modern technology, 3D models or (preferably) hand-drawn sprites would be amazing.

Second, it would need to be the most intricate/epic game in the series. Julius was able to kill Dracula permanently, so he has to be pretty powerful, no? So, they would need to change some of the stuff from previous games to accommodate his epic-ness. (One thing I thought of was, instead of subweapons, if he could steal any enemy's weapon as a secondary weapon at the cost of not having an inventory screen. This would probably work best if the game was a sidescroller like you said)

Anyways, this post is getting too long, so I will wrap it up with that. If you want to hear more of my ideas (which I doubt ) just PM me.

Personally I think that Castlevania is best done as a 2d Sidescroller. Rarely has Castlevania's venture into 3D gone well.

The Castlevania games for the GBA/DS have been awesome, just take offs of Symphony of the Night on PSOne

As I already said above, I also prefer the 2D castlevania games.

I think konami should develop a brand new side-scroller - not this Harmony of Despair stuff.

The Lords of Shadow games I think were ok as far as graphics, but I think fell short in gameplay.

I'd definitely love to see something like Curse of Darkness. That was the only 3D castlevania that was actually any good. The controls were just amazing for a 3D game and the weapon variety made it that much more fun. Such as swords, spears, axes, fists, large axes, large swords etc. Each weapon itself also had different attack variations when combo'd, which all had different uses, however they were more common when it came to attacking the "current" enemy.

The difficulty wasn't too easy or too hard. Sure, Dracula was hard as hell the first time around, but after a few attempts (or first if you just have the knack), you eventually take him down.

One last thing I'd like to mention about it is the music. I don't know about anyone else, but Michiru Yamane's work was OUTSTANDING in Curse of Darkness. EVERY theme was worth listening to, especially the very first level where it just blares it's melody right into your face with that "Transylvania" feel to it.

Now, all that doesn't mean I dislike the side scrolling ones. IMO, they are definitely the superior versions, especially the "Metroid-vania" ones. The first one of that style that I tried was Curse of Darkness for the GBA. At first it was a bit dull, but then all of a sudden I really go into it and just wanted to play until I beat it. Then try to get 100% on the map. It was only a little bit later that I found out that there were even more modes to play through, such as Magician and Thief. It's the same game, except your stats have different level up aptitudes and/or other things were altered. Like magician mode gave you ALL the cards right at the beginning for you to use.

My favorite one, however, was Order of Ecclesia. It's difficulty was fairly high, but doable, and finally adding in a single female protag. was amazing. Sure portrait of ruin had Charlotte, but it was in conjunction with using Jonathan. While Ecclesia had Shanoa alone.

To be honest, I believe that Castlevania is one of those titles that will not appear to die. At least it is more creative with its naming than some famous fantasy rpgs.......Not saying any names about these final games of fantasy.....wink wink.

I believe that it would be somewhat interesting to actually live the life of a Belmont. Go back to the roots of the Castlevania series, and have you're character be a holy whip bearing member of the Belmont Clan. The difference that I am talking about though, is that your movements would enact the movements of the character(like a virtual reality headset, or the Kinect on Xbox, or even the Wii mote, though I doubt anyone would buy it for the Wii)

I want to be able to see what the character sees, and want to feel the rush of jumping twice. Ok, so I'm probably a masochist, but I kinda want to feel what it would feel like to be hit by a flying bone thrown by a skeleton, or better yet, feel what it is like to have a skull chucked at me. I want to be able to see those fireballs coming at me. I WANT TO LIVE CASTLEVANIA DANG IT!

I really do not think so. I know how good the first one was, I played it, but the second one and others were not good at all. The first was a gold mine, the rest, just a whole bunch of quartz.

I don't think they should the series basically went downhill so I'm not really a huge fan into the series since they are only a few games in the series that stood out.
