This game is the third and final installment for the N64 of the Mario Party series. Its my favorite as well, it has more minigames, and it has its first DIFFERENT host then the standard Toad as host. So, its a different experience to those who first bought it back in 2000 or 2001. New and different field to it. So, let's start the review.
DIFFICULTY: 6
It isn't very hard at all, but it does get its challenging moments, especially late in the game, but to me, its not hard at all. So, I rate it low. There is 4 difficulties for the game, Easy, Normal, Hard, and Brutal. At least that is from my memory, I can be wrong, but that is what comes to mind to me.
DEPTH: 7
This game isn't THAT long, but it does take a bit to beat, it can be done in 1 sitting, but it will take maybe a couple of hours to go through the story mode. There is about 7 stamps to get and about 13 games including the regular boards, the battle boards, and the final boss. It does take a while to beat. You can't beat it with a snap of a finger. You'll sit there and beat the game with some time. It took me about 4 hours to beat it. That seems like the normal time to beat it. So that is the reason why its in the upper scores.
STORY: 8
The story is pretty interesting, so I'll display the story that is displayed in the instructions manual of the game:
"A Star is Born: In the center of the vast universe, a remarkably bright star was born. It was the star that is born only once in a thousand years, the Millennium Star. According to the legend, whoever possessed the mystical star was destined to become the Superstar of the universe. However since the Millennium Star was but a newborn, it fell from the starry sky.
Around that time, Mario and his friends were all happily relaxing when suddenly the Millennium Star came crashing down. Mario and his friends soon began arguing about who should keep the Millennium Star.
Suddenly, the Millennium Star gave off a brilliantly bright flash of light. And with that bright flash, Mario and his friends were transported into a toy box!
"Greetings. I am the Millennium Star. You must pass my test to prove yourself worthy of possessing me. You must journey across many lands and collect the Star Stamps. If you can collect all seven, I shall accept you as the top Superstar in the universe."
Who will collect the seven Star Stamps and become the universe's top Superstar?"
ADDICTIVENESS: 10
This game is very addicting, mostly because of the minigames, those are VERY fun to play. Especially with a friend, that is probably the most addicting part, the multiplayer part of the game. There is so much to do in this game that can keep you entertained and that is what really wins me over. Addicting indeed.
SOUND: 8
The game has some good sound effects. I like the voiceovers, the music, and the sound effects. Its pretty cool, mostly the music, it can easily get stuck in your head. Very catchy music. The sound effects are pretty good for its hits, basically. Nothing too weak, though. Voiceovers for the characters are pretty funny, mostly the taunts. That is funny stuff.
GRAPHICS: 9
The graphics are pretty good, it has just about everything you would expect from a 64 bit console game. Good color context, good variations in character shapes, and the background is impressive. I give props to the developers to that. You will appreciate how drawn out the game is. Its good.
OVERALL: 9.6
Overall, this game is definitely one of my favorites and is very impressive to most people out there, its a pure classic MP game and I reccomend you to play it right NOW.
