Windows for me --even though I've been using the crappy Vista OS for a few years. My brother has a Mac. Although I envy him for some of the features that came with it --some that I had to search the Internet for-- I've been content with Windows for its affordability and compatibility. Baseline Macbooks are $1,000 and may not even have the processor speed and hard drive space I look for. $500 is a high price for a laptop I can use.

I use Windows the most, although I've heard that iOS is faster and easier.

I feel like a lot of people who dislike Macs have never really used one. I love Macs. Everything feels all touchy-grabby. They last a long time. There is no Mac virus. And contrary to popular belief, you can run windows programs on one, you just need Bootcamp. They're very pretty too! Sure, you'll spend a little more, but the experience that you'll have with one is well worth it.

Well, I'm using Ubuntu Linux to make this post, but only because I can't afford a Mac. Honestly, I completely agree with NotJon. Windows is just a lot more common and a good bit cheaper, so it has gained in popularity. But, if you use a Mac just once, you'll see a big difference. Macs are less vulnerable to virus's and any windows program that you need can most likely be run in an emulator. They're better machines, for a bit more money. The price is worth it though.

Better machines? How so? I'm sorry but hardware wise a PC is going to beat a Mac any day of the week. Starting quad cores are nearly $1,200 and  that's if you don't want an iMac pro (then it's $2,500). $1,200 can build you a great PC.  Heck $700 can build you a great PC. I used to agree with the thought that they costed a bit more, but now to me they are going a bit overboard. In today's tech times prices flatten out extremely quickly.

If you like Mac OS I can understand that.  However, bootcamp to me isn't a real answer to the this app doesn't run on Mac problem, yes I know about bootcamp but you are emulating Windows. That's already going to hurt performance.  There are a few Mac virus's if I recall correctly, but they are very rare. But you have to know that one major reason for that is because people don't really try to make Mac viruses.  Think about it why would I write a virus for such a small market rather than Windows. It's also easier because it's been done to death. People would probably get pretty good at writing virus's for Macs if they put more time into trying it.

I've used a Mac before, it wasn't a bad experience, but I didn't really think it was all that different from a PC. Some of the GUI ideas were better implemented than XP and there were some advantages, but I can't see paying the extra money for a computer that has generally weaker hardware and requires emulation to run a lot of programs. People say *but you get more programs with it" and if you are going to take advantage of those programs, great go for it. But for most people it's a bit of a waste.

And what about their customer service practices?  Don't even get me started on the whole sending your computer in to change the hard drive. Same with iPod's and batteries.

I'm not saying there aren't any advantages to Macs, I realize that, but for me I like to know exactly what I'm running and pick out all the parts myself. Running games like BF3 and Cyrsis 2 at 1080p is something I don't think I could pull of on a Mac (at least without paying way too much to do it).

MichaelVash7886 : I never said that they were better than Windows. I just said that I like the OS more and I enjoy my time on mine. I don't play online games so I'm okay with that. Plus, I'm in school to be a professional artist someday. There's plenty of great programs on Mac for that.

I think of it like this. It's similar to getting a brand new car. There's plenty of things to consider like it's speed, horsepower, future value, and so on, but how much of that stuff is really necessary for the average person? If I ever get a car, I'd just want it to be a bright color, good gas mileage, and maybe comfy heated seats. My Mac looks pretty, performs great, loads everything quickly, and it just feels good to use. I never felt any of that with my PC. I'm sure there are people that feel the opposite and that need a PC to run certain programs easier, that's fine, I'm just not one of those people.

Well, actually, I'm still using Windows XP if you can believe that.

Occasionally I'll use Fedora Linux on my primary machine (Custom built), but I've grown up on Windows for the most part.

However when I was still in school, we had the old Apple computers to use, and I enjoyed using them also, so I could go either way still.
