I have a couple of ideas on this topic.

Nintendo should continue making consoles for the family. With the Nintendo Wii it has become a part of our parties. Even my 4 year old sister was able to play some of there games which led to the 'whole' family playing.

Though to bring Nintendo from the brink of death that it is at, I think they need to make new new games. Not new games of their old shriveled up stars, but original new games. They over use the star games and they really need to make new original ones to make Nintendo to seem still alive.

I think since all the other consoles have their head in the gutter for shooting or dancing games they could make a good buck on bringing back the RPG games.

Recently the only way to get your RPG fix is to play online or finding the new Final Fantasy. That's pretty lame in my eyes. Sorry for all that hate RPG, but I'm an rpg addict.

RequiemHaunt :   You haven't played The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, have you? Not every game on non-Nintendo consoles is full of shooters. In fact, even if you don't like shooters, there's plenty of stuff you'd like on the 360 and PS3. Just gotta dig, and keep your eyes peeled for games you'd like. The reason Japanese RPGs aren't as common on non-Nintendo consoles right now is because games are expensive to make, to the Japanese devs have found it easier to develop for the DS.

Don't judge systems based on what they mostly have. Some of those shooters are RPGs, for one thing. There's not really that many dance games compared to how many the Wii has, as well. Again, Smurfs dancing. A country dancing game. Shall I go on?

D_Man : Have you ever played Bayonetta? Condemned 2: Blood Shot? How about the demo for Sonic Generations? Sega doesn't really make many games, and when they do, they don't always suck. Just play the demo for Sonic Generations for examples. Just because a company has had trouble making good games doesn't mean they should stop. Besides, they are the guys who published Bayonetta.

I would say yes but it is never going to happen and it would take away from the mistique that is Nintendo. I do still kind of agree though. Either way they will not stop!

KlawedFlaw : Sorry I jumped the gun all I see on gaming shows and magazines are about shooters or dance games. I rarely now see any good RPG games. I miss the good old Playstation 1 era.

I also cannot buy games at all or any consoles. I am dirt broke and can't even afford to feed myself, I do not have a job atm due to an unknown illness so that restricts my money a lot.

Now really, these Wii haters are getting on my nerves... Am I really the only person that sees the Wii as the NES of generation 7?
Really, the NES had a gimmick as well - ROB the robot. The NES had plenty of bad games, such as Home Alone or Super Pitfall. The NES was technologically behind the Sega Master System and the Atari 7800, just like the Wii with the PS3 and 360.

Also, just like the NES, the Wii is winning, by a landslide, over the other systems.

Seriously, the Wii is the NES of Gen 7. Why was it ok in 1985 but so bad in 2006? It's the same thing!

RequiemHaunt : Sorry for getting a bit snippy if I did. I understand why you made the assumption you made now, by the way. Thanks for clearing things up. I always see people on here saying how there's too many shooters, heck, I see that on too many sites. Someone even made a full on rant about how the 90's were just as bad, in fact. It was a video, too.

I'm always on defense when people say stuff like how there's too many shooters, or how they think CoD players are all morons. After seeing the same ideas about FPS games when there's plenty of great ones out like Bioshock, Bioshock 2, Singularity, and Borderlands, it got to me. I hate when people don't know all the facts, and feel like I must clarify things.

I hope you do get a job. At least you are alive and well, though. I hope you get through the problems you have currently someday.

Toad, I'm not a Wii hater. If I get on your nerves, I'm sorry the nerves are pounding. The NES was made at a different time. It was under different circumstances. Ever heard of the video game crash of '84 or '83? Nintendo had a reason for the R.O.B. That thing wasn't even a gimmick, too. The reason for the thing? Video game consoles weren't going to sell because of that crash, and Nintendo marketed the NES as a toy, which is why it was such a success. People thought it was just a toy when it first came out, and R.O.B helped make it seem more like a toy.

Of course it had plenty of bad games. So did every console, but those had something much Wii shovelware doesn't, controls to have some response. Once again, the Smurfs game is an example of a Wii game with bad control response. Maybe I'm wrong, but we all could be wrong. We can't prove our opinions truly, and we can only give ground for them due to this.

The Master System was released to the market after the NES, and so was the Atari 7800. The Wii didn't come out and saved video games like the NES did. It was a console that was the cheapest out of the three choices, and Nintendo had an off generation as far as money went when the Gamecube was the current Nintendo console. They also were going for something completely different with the Wii.

Bad doesn't equal impossible to control. Controls are an important part of every game. Even Plumbers Don't Wear Ties has a good merit for controls. Bad is also subjective, but you can tell much more clearly if a piece of technology is in some way defective. If a Wii game can be won by not even trying to use the controls right, that's not even doing bad. That's lazy controls in a game. At least Cheetahmen was able to make you control the game correctly as far as side scrolling went.

The Wii has plenty of good games, but it's not known for those because people know it more for stuff like the worst of movie tie ins. Just buy the most impossible to control games for the Wii and tell me if you can see any difference between Action 52 and those when it comes to bad controls. In short, motion control is easier to screw up. People see it as a gimmick. I know it could be used much better, but every string to hold that hope puppet is nearly broken in my case. Just look at a crappy Kinect game called Sonic Free Riders.

The Wii can be whatever you want it to be. If it's the NES of right now to you, great. It's not to everyone. I think it's the family console that has few games I care about. I like the console, but don't care for it as much as the Gamecube.

I understand what you mean, with the motion control being easier to "screw up" then normal controls. What I don't understand is how that's the system's fault? I'll give an example: I played the Wii with my best friend, who was playing the Wii for the first time. We were playing monkey ball: banana blitz, and thanks to it's terrible controls, we were getting frustrated. But what bothered me the most is that he kept blaming the Wii for the control. It wasn't until weeks later when he played other games that he finally realized THE GAME was to blame, not THE SYSTEM.

It's just like the DS games that FORCED you to use the stylus for no reason, like Phantom Hourglass or Starfox Command. Those games are basically unplayable because you can't control Link or Fox. Is that the DS's fault? No, it's the GAME to blame. If a system is harder to control, then it's up to the developers to program it properly. Or do you think it's the Nintendo 64's fault that Superman can't be controlled properly?

Bottom line: Bad controls in a game are the GAME's fault, not the systems.

By the way, unless shooters are your favorite genre, you will feel that there are too many shooters in this generation of video games. Just like the NES had infinity platformers, the 360 has infinity shooters. That's not to say a lot of shooters means they are bad - many of the NES platformers are loved - but a moderate amount of games across all genres trumps tons of the same genre any day.

Toad 004 : I'm blaming the developers. The console isn't to blame. Also, shooters aren't a huge favorite of mine. I just happen to end up finding more of them. I don't mind, since I care about what the game itself is. Stuff from Raven normally is quite good. Shooters are on the Wii in large numbers, anyway. How many arcade style lightgun type of games are for that thing? Tons. Those count as shooters.

I don't think the controls are the fault of the system unless it's the Atari 5200 controller. The Wii is easy to control, but it's not like I'm trashing it for all the shovelware. Just wish there was less of that stuff. There's games I love with some bad controls like Silent Hill and the first Onimusha game. I consider tank controls bad controls. Onimusha is hard to play because of them only because you can't use the analog stick to make matters better. You can do that with Silent Hill 1.

I should have made it more clear that I don't think the controls of a game are accounted for due to the system. Superman 64 could have been on any system, and been just as bad. It's not the system's fault. It's the lazy programming of the game.
