Alright, so in this review, I'm going to discuss the great classic known as Super Mario All Stars, its a game based on the true NES classics on the SNES, including a special unreleased game inside. The Game includes about 4 games, and even sometimes 5 when its the special + Super Mario World edition. The classic games include Super Mario Bros., Super Mario Bros. 2, Super Mario Bros. 3 and the unreleased classic in Japan is Super Mario Bros. The Lost Levels and that game is the real SMB 2. But enough of the prereview talk, let's start the review.

DIFFICULTY: 7
The game isn't hard at all, the game has some tough parts from the classics, but there isn't much that is tough about it. The Game pretty much took the same difficulty from the classics and put it in 16 bit instead of 8 bit. BUT there is one of the games that is very tough, and that is Super Mario Bros. The Lost Levels and I'll discuss that in a bit, but I can tell you this...it is very VERY tough if you take it lightly, there are more traps, bottomless pits, and even new obstacles like the new wind feature in it. Its random and tough, so you have to be careful on that, SMB The Lost Levels is what makes the overall difficulty somewhat high, but not too high since the other games are relatively easy. SMB, SMB2, and SMB3 are easy to beat, nothing too worried about.

DEPTH: 5
I put this game in a not too big rating on the length because you can beat most of this in one sitting, but its in the middle since you have quite a few levels to beat if you have the option to beat EVERY SINGLE GAME in the game. If I didn't count that, it would be lower, but I don't consider it that easy to beat, no, not on one sitting...maybe two if you are determined to beat it. I beat the entire game in about...three days I wasn't determined to defeat it, so that is why it took a while, but the addicted user would beat it in maybe 2 days. Other than that, its still fun to play.

STORY: 3
The game has no new story, so I rated it low. But I will show you what the stories are from the classics. Just the classics, I won't include the SMW story, thats for another Review. Here it is:

Super Mario Bros.: One day the kingdom of the peaceful mushroom people was invaded by the Koopa, a tribe of turtles famous for their black magic. The quiet, peace-loving Mushroom People were turned into mere stones, bricks and even field horse-hair plants, and the Mushroom Kingdom fell into ruin.
The only one who can undo the magic spell on the Mushroom People and return them to their normal selves is the Princess Toadstool, the daughter of the Mushroom King. Unfortunately, she is presently in the hands of the great Koopa turtle king.
Mario, the hero of this story (maybe) hears about the Mushroom People's plight and sets out on a quest to free the Mushroom Princess from the evil Koopa and restore the fallen kingdom of the Mushroom People. Now Mario must defeat the Evil King Koopa to free Princess Toadstool and free the Mushroom Kingdom from Koopa's grip.

Super Mario Bros. 2: When Mario opened a door after climbing a long stair in his dream, another
World spread before him, and he heard a voice call for help to be freed from
a spell. After awakening, Mario went to a cave nearby, and to his surprise, he saw
exactly what he saw in his dream. He, Luigi, Toad, and even Princess Toadstool go out on an adventure to fight for the freedom of this cryptic land from the Evil Frog King known as Wart.

Super Mario Bros. 3: Bowser has returned to the Mushroom Kingdom and now with the help of his seven Koopaling children, he tries to conquer it again. He sends his Koopalings (Larry, Roy, Lemmy, Wendy, Iggy, Morton, and Ludwig) into seven parts of the Mushroom World to steal the Mushroom Kings' magic wands, and with the wands, transform the Kings into various creatures. Princess Toadstool sent Mario and Luigi to go and stop the Koopalings and turn the kings back into their normal form while she too is kidnapped by Bowser, so now Mario and Luigi set on a quest to free the Mushroom Kingdom and restore peace to the land.

Super Mario Bros. The Lost Levels: After Mario and Luigi saved Princess Toadstool, the Mushroom Retainers and the Mushroom Kingdom from the evil King Koopa's evil spell, Bowser kidnaps her with the toads and invade the Mushroom Kingdom again. This time, Mario and Luigi has to travel in many different and dangerous worlds of the kingdom to rescue the princess and the inhabitants from the False Bowsers. Though the lands seem very familiar to Mario and Luigi, they are much more dangerous and inhabited by more enemies than they had ever experienced before.

ADDICTIVENESS: 10
You will love how much you'll be addicted to this game, this game dishes out quite the classic game's features with new twists and turns with its new graphics, once you see that, you'll want to see all of the game's details that have been improved, and believe me when I say this, you'll be impressed with that, but I'm getting ahead of myself here, you'll love to play this over and over again, especially with the new Saving Feature with it. You'll love it. Especially trying to do stuff that you couldn't do in the NES in one sitting.

SOUND: 9
The remixed 16 bit music is defenitely a plus, I personally love the new music in this game, its very catchy...not as much as the original but still very good music and sound effects, its pretty sweet. Everything is remastered in this, the sounds when you jump, hit, grab an item, etc. I love that, and I bet everything I have you'll like it too.

GRAPHICS: 9
The new and improved graphics are great, its definitely another plus for this game, with the new color variety, shapes, effects, etc. I love it all, even Mario is remastered to his original colors in the games, you'll definitely love the improvement. Its pretty sweet.

OVERALL: 9.3
This game overall is a really good game to try out, even though it has similarities to the classics, its still something worth checking out, I definitely recommend going to the RGR and start playing this now, because there is no telling what you can expect from this game. New glitches? The Minus World in 16 bit? Cheats that you never seen before? Who knows, go over and play it now.

Have a great day.

I agree more. This game goes back to the Mario games on the NES. The exception is that the all star one is in 16 bit format of the Mario games from the classic 8 bit. I have this version on my Wii for their 25th anniversary, but still couldn't beat the last castle of the lost levels and also the first one. Anyway nice job on this fantastic review!
