This game is known as Super Mario Land for the Nintendo Gameboy. One of the true classics in the Gameboy era. The game isn't your regular Mario game consep either, its a completely different story. You don't recondnize most of the enemies, logic, and story. So, let's talk about the real review.
DIFFICULTY: 5
This game isn't very hard at all, its very VERY easy to beat, yet, there is some stuff you don't take lightly, so I rate this in the middle. The tough parts are the fast attacks and the stuff you need to do to beat some bosses. Like some you have to dodge many projectiles to having no choice but to find a way over the boss and hitting the kill button to beat it. It isn't hard, but it can be challenging if you aren't very accurate in your timing.
DEPTH: 2
There is barely any worlds in this game, in the game they only put 4 worlds, which is only HALF of every other mario game in existance, which sounds very short, with only 3 levels per world, it can be beat very quickly. Here are the names of the worlds:
World 1: Birabuto
World 2: Muda
World 3: Easton
World 4: Chai
These are all the real names of this game. Interesting isn't it?
STORY: 7
This game has absolutely nothing to do with the regular storyline and doesnt tell the story unless you own it. It doesn't mention any backstory in the game, like the regular Super Mario Bros. You need the manual or the box of the game. The story is this: Mario is in the peaceful realm of Sarasaland, which is split into the four kingdoms of Birabuto, Muda, Easton, and Chai. One day, a mysterious alien named Tatanga appears and hypnotizes the inhabitants of Sarasaland, including Daisy. He kidnaps Princess Daisy in order to marry her. Mario then sets out to rescue her from Tatanga, traveling through the four geographical areas of Sarasaland and defeating Tatanga. Meanwhile after you beat a boss, you DON'T see Toad, he isn't in this game, instead is phony Princess Daisys. Tatanga's minions pretending to be her to fool Mario. Which is a really different story that we expect from a Mario game at all. I really like this change in story, too bad this is the only time they used this story unfortunately. So this is one of the only games that had a different story than the regular Mario game. I like the story.
ADDICTIVENESS: 9
This game is very addictive, once you start the game, you want to play it over and over and over again. Its just as addictive as the old Super Mario Bros. game, it has the same 8 bit genre only with new stories and enemies. Very addicting, when I started playing it, I had lots of fun playing it. Its fun.
SOUND: 7
The sound in the game isn't very special. It has some good 8 bit music and the sound effects are somewhat good, but it isn't anything really amazing, its your regular 8 bit game sound effects with its boing jump, its classic theme music, and its other sounds. It is a classic, so I give it credit.
GRAPHICS: 10
The graphics were actually pretty good for a Gameboy game, the 8 bit effects were actually pretty good. The game had good tiles, the background effects were excelent and the variety of level designs were pretty epic. I enjoyed the variety. I think you'll apreciate it too.
OVERALL: 9.3
This game overall is a really addicting game with one of the best Graphics I've seen in a while on a Gameboy game. If I was you and I haven't played this yet, I would go ahead and try this right now. I garantee that you will enjoy the heck out of it. I garantee it.
Have a great day.
