We all know about the final version of Ocarina of Time, but what most people don't know is that there were tons of game play elements that were cut from the game during development. There was enough content cut to make a stand alone game. Team Beta Triforce began what is known as the Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time Beta Restoration Project to make a fully working game out of the beta files. Personally, I love the idea. What do you think about it?

This would be really really hard. While there is plenty of left over beta data in the original Ocarina of Time (Such as some maps; there is a map featured in the beta trailer that is actually in the original game, and there's actually an inaccessible map in Ganondorf's castle that actually leads to a Beta map -- with an Arwing in it!) there are still a large bits of missing holes. For example, the Deku tree in the beta trailer looked like the thing was bleeding. Was it bleeding or was that just how the tree actually looked during the curse? Thing like that we have nothing to go back on but speculate and assume unless someone who worked on the original project came in and told us everything.

Besides that, Nintendo are generally ass-hats when it comes to making something out of their content. Remember the Zelda fan made movie that got shut down? Yeah...

As much as I love the idea, it seems too far off and seems like a dream that will never happen. Even if it weren't shut down by Nintendo, I doubt people will actually stay motivated enough and the project would just die before it would even get halfway through. It's would be an extremely long and stressful project to do, and people have jobs; unlike Nintendo employees their job was to make Ocarina of Time and they got paid for it. Anybody who was making a project like this would not get that luxury.

Actually, they're still working on it and announced that it should be finished and released some time next year.

It does sound interesting. Releasing some of the beta content that was in the original game will help promote OoT's life a bit more, even after the recent release of the 3DS version. The only beta I've heard is, like Vincent said, the Arwing that flies around. They put that in to test out Link's Z-Targeting and I guess they never took it out. It would be kind neat to fight as a boss though.

Like I said originally, there is enough beta content to make a stand alone game. If the beta content wasn't cut, the game would be larger than even some modern games.

I like the idea of it, but I'm not sure I NEED to play it. Most likely, the content was probably cut for a reason. It probably just wasn't interesting enough, so I don't know.

I'm moving this to the Zelda sub-forum.
