Tiger would be agile and lion strong. They would tear each other to shreds.

Lions are bigger, Tigers are faster.

Lions are fast, but not as fast as the Tiger, so if the Tiger decides to flee, the Lion would be screwed because the Tiger would run too fast for him, and if the Lion would flee, he'd be screwed because the tiger would get him in a matter of seconds, however, Lions are stronger, so if the lion would bite out the tigers legs first, he wouldn't be able to run, making him dead meat..

This is a more detailed answer.

This is one that will depend on location, sex of the animal, and size. If we assume both animals are male, they meet in a field where neither has camouflage, and that both are about the same size we can equalize those factors.  Now we have to take into account the sheer power both animals possess. Both are able to take down large animals like moose and wildebeest which means they are both strong. If my research proves right, the tiger is faster with a weaker bite and a lion is slower with a more powerful bite. So if the lion gets its teeth into the tiger, the tiger is in trouble, but, of course, the lion has to catch the tiger first.

Actually, I was inspired by an animal face off youtube video I've seen and decided to make this thread. According to the video, a Lion would win...I disagree. Tigers are bigger, heavier and smarter in terms of hunting.

I say it depends on if you are talking about captivity or in the natural world (in the scenario that they lived in the same area). If we are talking a scenario where someone apprehends one tiger and one lion and puts them in a ring, I say the tiger would win (assuming we are talking about the Siberian Tiger). The Siberian Tiger is pound for pound not only the largest in the cat family, but the most powerful. However, if we are talking about in the wild, the lion. Simply for the fact that lions are huge pack animals and if one is attacked, the rest jump in (except for when an outside male lion challenges a pack leader male for control over the pack). 

One note, lions are not king of the forest. They don't even live in the forest. They live in the in the open plain of the African Savannah. Just clearing that up because I read 2-3 posts claiming they are king of the forest.

The lion is a lot more ruthless and powerful than the tiger. The tiger may have a speed advantage, but the lion probably can stop it dead in its tracks.

I definitely like lions.  Lions just have this really majestic look to them.  Their huge mane, they're calm mannerism as they prowl their lands?  I love to see them in nature shows, and I'd love to see one in real life some day.

I think a Tiger would win because it has sharper claws and teeth and it is faster than a Lion.

i think the lion would win, cause the lion has a huge mane all over it head, protecting it from the tigers canine bite, so sense the lion has more defense it gives it a better chance of winning. but the tiger is faster and usally does all ithunting alone, while the male lions makes the females do the hunting. they have one thing in common and it is their amazing camoflouge. the tigers camoutflage is  still a little better, cause it might be 8 fetter right into the forest and you will never see it. so the tiger is the winner here. 

Personally, I think Lions would win because, only of the movie "The Lion King", there is no tiger king. But in all seriousness, it should not be Lion vs Tiger, they could be both equal at certain parts.
