Nightmare on Elm Street spawned one of the most creepiest villains in history, Freddy Krueger. Even if you don't admit it Freddy scared alot of people out there. The question is does Freddy live up to the hype to his own game? Well that's what this review is for. Nightmare on Elm Street was developed by Rare Ltd. and published by LJN Ltd. back in 1989. Now let's delve into this review.

GamePlay (7/10)
Nightmare on Elm Street is probably one of the earliest games to be a four player game that I can remember it really adds little to the experience...but hey, it's there.
The controls are decent. Not bad, but not great either. An interesting feature to the game is the ''Dream Warrior'' basically when you fall asleep in the game you can be a ninja, sorcerer, or an acrobat in order to fight off Freddy's minions and Freddy himself. One frustrating aspect is how you really don't know where you are supposed to go, and figuring out which door you can go in can be a real bi**h

Story (4/10)
Basically the story is that things have been happening on Elm Street as of late every morning basically another neighborhood teen is found dead without struggle or what seems to be a killer picking off his victims while they sleep. Well the Elm Street kids (as they are called) find out that it is a local of Elm Street Freddy Krueger who's been dead for awhile. So the Elm street kids decide to find all of Freddy's bones and destroy them in order to end this horrible nightmare.

Graphics (6/10)
The characters in the game looked a little quirky and aren't different from each other in multi-players games the only difference is the color of the clothing. Freddy actually comes out very well in the game when you have to take him on various times. Overall the graphics are decent at best.

Sound (5/10)
The sound is ok, but it's repetitive, and really gets old fast. The novelty of the Freddy Music wears off very quickly. The sound efx aren't done to well either, basically you get sounds when you hit something or take damage and that's about it. The music can be muted since you don't really have to listen to it to know what's going on.

Playtime/Re-playability (4/10)
Nightmare playtimes varies depending on how many players play the game meaning the game can take from an hour to two hours of play time. Re-playability is pretty high if you have the friends to play with you other wise this game isn't too much fun to play by yourself.

Final Recommendation
It's not the worst LJN game ever, but I wouldn't waste too much time playing it...unless you are a F**king nerd

Yeah, I have heard of this game on AVGN and it seems so bad, and I guess I was right, I even played it and it sucked.

Yeah this isn't the worst LJN game, but it's pretty damn bad. At least the day-night transition isn't like Simons Quest, but everything else is bland and repetitive. Just be warned of its crap factor...
