I never used to be into the Megaman games on the nes. I just not only thought they might be mad, but I took veryr little attention to it at all. However, after hearing the soundtrack and listening to a certain someone that made lyrics for some if those songs (take a wild guess), I couldn't resist it anymore. And the game had me at the first level I selected, Airman. This was the start of my love for megaman games.
The game welcomes you with a happy tune with a short story of what's happening. Oh dear, it looks like that Dr. Wily's up to no good again. He's escaped, and if 6 wasn't enough last time, he's built 8 more. Ranging from Metalman to Quickman and from Airman to Woodman. There's a Heatman in this one, not to be confussed with Fireman. They get really stingy with their names.
Like the first one, the game offers you to choose what robot master you want to fight. Most robot masters have their own weakness. You'll have to fight at least one with your MegaBuster (like all good games, you lose all your powers from the previous game with no reason what-so-ever. Did Megaman thing he'll never need them again? And why did he think the same thing for 8 more games?) Although some of the Masters have more that one weakness. I was very amused to find one that killed him in one hit (I'm not going to tell you, you'll just have to try them out ^^).
As you kill each robot master, you get their weapons to use. After you kill a certain amount of robot masters, Dr. Light gives you a speical weapon to use that will make the game more convientent. Much easier than the first game, where you needed Gutmans ability to get that lazer in Electricmans stage.
The gameplay is amazing. You jump higher and more lightly than the last game, allowing jumps to easily be executed. The layout of each level gives an easier play though than the last game, but enough differculty to keep the player challenged. There is also a harder mode you can play fo those who like a challenge.
Now to the music. I don't need to tell you how good the music it...but I will anyway! The music is superb. These are the sorts that get locked into your head. The best of the lot is Wilys Castle stage 1 and 2. Almost any fan of this game will agree.
The grapthics are also a little better than the first game.
There are, sadly a couple of flaws that are minor, but stop it getting the 10/10.
I would give this game an overall score of 9.7/10
So what are you waiting for? Play the game! You won't regret it.
Tell me what you think of the game here, and if this review helped.
