I'm pretty lucky too my parents are married so I don't have to constantly go between my mum and dad and I like them both equally but they bicker a lot and sometimes it gets nasty where sometimes my dad goes for a drive for a day or two or my mum goes to her friends for the same amount of time. I think its because of the economic problem at the moment. Tbh I think its a bit more than bickering and I sometimes get worried but in the long run I don't think any permanent psychological damage is done. I do know someone whos dad died last month however and she seems to be taking it pretty well i think different people have different tolerances or they were raised to cope better i couldnt imagine taking it well at all if my dad died :/

Nope. They do have some arguments at times, but they have no plans of separating. And besides, they have six kids to deal with.

Nope. They're still married after 20 years. I'm about the only one of my friends whose parents are still married. =| They fight sometimes, but whenever they do, they just wind up laughing about it - so I'm not worried.

Bintsy : Well technically my parents didn’t get divorced but they were separated several times during my teen years. As a result I went through a very rough period during my teen years which resulted in me making some mistakes for myself that I wish I could go back and redo. Part of the problem was my parents were at each other’s throats so much to the degree that I would often end up trying to play peacemaker.

When I could get away from it I ended up hanging out with some bad influences and doing the wrong things. It wasn’t long before I went from a kid with perfect attendance in school and a decent grade average to basically not caring much. It was part of many things that made me end up dropping out of school.

My parents eventually worked things out and got back together. I don’t hold any malice against them for what I had to go through. Anything that I did wrong back then I take responsibility for. What’s important for me is to use my experiences that I went through to help others when I can. I firmly believe that although I wish my teen years were a little easier and enjoyable, if I hadn’t of gone through what I did, I probably would A not be the person that I am and B probably would not have embraced my writing as my career. It’s kind of ironic in that I started writing when I was twelve years old shortly before things with my family started going bad and even though I kept writing through all the things I went through I never really embraced it until I left school and, it served as the thing that allowed me to straighten myself out.
