This is a wonderful action adventure game that many people haven't heard of, or have forgotten about completely. This is actually a sequel of the original Gameboy Gargoyle's Quest. (Great game as well)

I loved playing this game when it came out, and I still enjoy playing it today.
Developed by Capcom, so if you have played most Capcom NES games, you already know that this is probably a solid title.

The gameplay is like that of many NES sidescroller adventures (i.e. Megaman), however it is rather fast-paced and fluid and very challenging at the same time. The game allows you to acquire several power-ups and upgrades to Firebrand's arsenal which allow him to perform extraordinary new feats like stand on tornado's mid-air and create a gelatinous cover of spiked walls so he may rest and regain his stamina. The gameplay also incorporates some interesting and entertaining puzzle-solving elements, particularly later in the game where failure to solve a puzzle can send you right back to the beginning of a level. The game also has an almost Role-playing game feel to it, for it allows you to increase Firebrand's health, armor, and collect "vial" in exchange for more lives or "maelstrom".

Make a post and let me know what you thought of it. Oh, and post some screenshots if you did something cool, or even beat the game!!!

No problem at all. I always like suggesting old games for people to play that they might not have tried out otherwise.

I owned th first part for GameBoy and found this sequel a few days ago by myself.
After playing it a few hours, i must say that it is as hard as the first one.
But the music beatifuly reminds me of myself playing it on GB in the age of 7 (or 8), hehe ...

I also refer it, because it's a very fine mixture between a "classic" rpg, jump'n'run- and adventure-game. A real jewel!!

I'm that that you are enjoying it. Capcom put its signature difficulty into it. Not as hard as the Mega Man series, but it can be a tough at points.

I find it rather fun, just having so many different gameplay aspects to it. Really unique.

jeez, now that you mention it:
capcom really is a synonyme for games hard to beat, hehe

Do you know about more gargoyles-quest parts existing, or is this one the "last one" that was developed?
If yes, then this awesome game-idea (especially the crossover between different genres) was propaply simply falling between the grid of attention because of a low usement of commercial, i think ...

If they had made shoutouts for this game, it would have possibly grown to a fantastic game-series like Mario or - as you mentioned - MegaMan. It has all aspects necessary.

lmnade44 : No problem at all! I really enjoy it. I hope that you will too.
I am going to start a new game and try to beat it again since I haven't beaten it in awhile.

The first Gargoyles Quest for Gameboy is a great game as well if you want to check it out.
