Fine, then YOU will get to handle all the wonderful, remarkably persistent emails from people begging for a logo sig as they arrive in our in-boxes en masse. I'll just take all the ones I get and forward 'em to you.

People never try to save the image and use it themselves when you're actively using it, or at the very least they may save it on their computer but not use it while you are. Otherwise, they're seen as copying you, AND they're taking your sig without you giving them permission to do so, which makes it stealing. That's frowned upon. But if the sig is offered for download somewhere, then it's okay. This is according to the Unwritten Rules of Forum Etiquette, also known as politeness and courtesy.

Not necessarily. You could just hard-code new images into the page. Sure it would take time, but it'd take a lot less time than making the whole page updatable.

In regards to the publicity: being together with Chrono Symphonic like this should give us a great starting boost. From there, we can start small and work our way up. Certainly, being mentioned on the Compendium will also help us with the core Chrono community, which will be interested in this petition the most and will contain the most likely people to sign it.

Yeah... I'm thinking we won't have ANY problem reaching the 25% mark. We should be able to get that solely from our publicity at Compendium and Symphonic, plus word-of-mouth.

As for the site, I'm booked for the day tomorrow and may not even have a chance to call Nathan until the evening, but I'll check in on him as soon as I can. And pass along that note about the Downloads page, changing the "many upcoming downloads" thing.

You mean NATHAN could just hard-code new images into the page. More waiting on Nathan. I can understand that if it's a crucial change, but really...they're Chrono Trigger images, and I think they'll do just fine. Let's focus on just getting those images up rather than spend time trying to find a better one and get it hard-coded...all the while we can't forget that we need some graphics artists to make those sigs in the first place!

Thanksgiving, eh? Less than 2 weeks... OK, so to launch the site by then, we need to have:
1) Nathan's changes implemented and "Submit" bug on Contacts page fixed
2) All 6 sigs/wallpapers uploaded and in place
3) Word, PDF, and HTML versions of the petition on the site and ready to go. The link in the Flash will lead to only one petition (probably the one with all 7 characters), and when we change the "many upcoming downloads" stuff, I think we'll replace it with a message that alternate versions of the petition are available in the forum, and make an active link to bring them to this board. That will a) increase traffic to the board (what David wants), b) allow access to all versions of the petition (what everyone else wants), and allow users to participate more by posting in this forum. (David: When the site launches, we will remove the restriction on this forum so that all members can make new threads, not just staff.)

Here's what I recommend in regards to the petition's forum:

1. In the News section of the site, post a link to the forum itself, NOT specifically to the thread with the other versions of the petition. THAT link goes on the Downloads page.

2. Make a Question & Answer thread for people to get clarification on anything regarding the petition. It can also be used for stuff like troubleshooting. ("I can't download the petition! When I try, my computer laughs evilly and displays the Blue Screen of Death while the monitor spins 360 degrees and projectile-vomits pea soup out of the screen like in The Exorcist!")

3. Make an official "Feedback" thread for people to say stuff like "OMG THIS ROX!!!1!", or "WTF THIS SUX!1!!one!!", or to make helpful suggestions. I imagine this thread will be the most popular one.

4. Make a thread for everything we couldn't fit on the Downloads page: the other versions of the petition, extra wallpaper/sig submissions, submissions not involving the hard-coded images, sigs of the Petition logo, etc. With a thread like this, we could continue accepting submissions after the site launches and we gain popularity (and thus, gain the interest of talented computer artists). Those artists could then post their creations in this thread as an alternative to sending them to us through email or whatever. (Obviously, this is the thread you should post a link to on the Downloads page of the site.)

5. If we get lots of similar questions in the Q&A thread, make a FAQ thread.

6. Keep this thread open. Even once the site launches, we'll still need to plan stuff like more publicity & mentions on other sites. But we need to make sure this thread is only used for that purpose, so if anyone posts reactions/questions/submissions in this thread, their posts should either be deleted or moved to the correct thread for such things.



I also recommend that after the site launches, you let Nathan take whatever time he needs to make the entire site fully dynamic, since we won't be under a deadline then. We can announce on the site that there will be scheduled maintenance at a specific time, and Nathan can use that time to transfer any changes he's made onto the site. Once that's done, we can take everything in the "Extra Downloads" thread and move it onto the site, then close the thread.

Making the site fully dynamic won't really give us more room to play around; it just allows us to change what text is used or what images are used. Oh and Stoney, I figured out what your big task can be...taking care of this forum! LOL... The new threads, etc. Besides, I might need some help here once people start coming in. I'm hoping it'll be a lot! LOL... I'll ask David to make you Local Mod.

I agree that we shouldn't have just anyone posting in here, especially with the amount of traffic our site will get. I suggest that we change everything the current "Chrono Trigger Remake Petition" part of the forum to "staff only," but in the same section have threads where anyone can post, i.e. feedback threads, question threads, threads to discuss the game, and I think we should create another "dream" thread in the fan section. It'll be interesting to see what all of the Chrono Trigger fans have to say. Can we set it up so that all the threads are at the same section, but to avoid confusion our threads would be at the top and marked staff only?

About the moderation: I don't really like the idea of giving myself credit, but at CT:RP I was one of the key members keeping people "on track" and solving disputes. This is where Stoney's comments about my logic come from. In other words, I may be of some help in the moderation of the forum. I don't have much interest in posting elsewhere on the site, but would like to be able to keep an eye on this area as I did at CT:RP.

Wow, you can do that? Well, for now I think we should stick to the original plan of having everything not in Downloads be placed here in the forums. Later on, if that's possible, we should definitely do it (the lite HTML menu thing). We'll have all the time we need to make as many changes as we want after the site launches.

I changed my mind about what I said earlier: once we get the extra content up onto the site, we should keep the Submissions thread open so people can still post their stuff in it.

Prop's idea about a miniature staff section within this forum is an interesting idea, but I'm not sure if it's possible on this board.

You are correct, Stoney. A miniature staff section in this forum is not possible. By the way, you've been given modding privileges. You can now edit posts, close/trash/delete threads, etc. (By the way, don't use the Trash button at the top of the thread...it sends it off to another forum but not the Trash Can. Use the "edit thread" button at the bottom and then choose to move the thread to the trash can. But you shouldn't need to move anything anyway! )

And yes, Nate has a brother. Blake is my best friend, actually.

Forgive the off-topic remark, but I can't get my backround to change in "Edit Layout." I'm trying to put this image (http://img145.imageshack.us/img145/7851/ctrpwallpaperdarkages5nq.jpg) as my background (or a smaller version, depending on how big it turns out) and change my text to black. But whatever I do, nothing seems to change. Advice?

You put the pic in the background box right? And do you know the proper tags for text color?

Yes for the background box and no for the text color. I got the full picture to show up in the preview, but only when I stretched it for text and image.

To insert the color tags put < font color=Black> in your header then in your footer put < /font>

Just take out the space after the < in both of those. Leave the one b/t font and color.

But that doesn't solve the problem with not being able to get the image to show up. Also, can I set it up similar to yours, with the text over the image, keeping the posts a standard size, providing a scrollbar for longer posts and putting my signature at the bottom on top of the bottom of the image? Do you know how to do that?

I don't know anything more than what I told you. I had my layout by a member before for 750 Viz.
