True...but a lot of people seem to already have the link to the site. I took down the petitions until the final ones are ready to go up. I'll be pretty hacked off if one of those unfinished petitions winds up in my PO Box.

You mean, like the unfinished petitions I posted over at CTRP a while ago since I wasn't aware you wanted them kept secret?

I need to clarify what ZeaLitY said. Here's the PM he sent me.

The text should really be darkened; the home page isn't very legible at all with the gray.

Anyway, I support the project as a general Chrono project, but I believe we should be looking forward to a new Chrono game rather than backwards to a Chrono Trigger remake. My argument for this is somewhere in Kajar Laboratories. I'm not going to start a petition for Chrono Break as to not make light of the concept of petitioning, but I am organizing a letter campaign with a Japanese man who will hand deliver a sack of Chrono Break requests to Square Enix headquarters.

So yes, he supports us in the sense that this is a Chrono Project, and he, as the guru of all things Chrono, would be remiss in his duties if he DIDN'T support it (or that's how I interpreted it, at least). But at the same time he's also attempting his own way of getting through to Square-Enix. In a way, I guess that might make him our rival to see who will get S-E's attention first.

Anyway, I sent him a reply asking if he could help us out with a front-page mention on the Compendium once we launch, since it would send signatures skyrocketing. We'll see what he thinks when he responds back.

Well I think a remake would only help the series. I mean think about getting a whole new set of younger gamers into the Chrono series. That could lead to the release of Chrono Break (and I guess some sort of remake or port of Chrono Cross somewhere along the way).

I really wanna see Chrono Break come out at some point in time.

It will be cheaper for Square to remake Chrono Trigger for a new system than for them to pay a staff of writers to come up with a story, characters, dialogue, a new (probably) battle system and everything else that would need to be put together for the game. Therefore, a petition asking for a remake of Chrono Trigger has a greater chance of being positively answered than a petition with an equal amount of signatures asking for a sequel. They are showing the same demand for two products, but one product would cost them less for what would most likely be the same response from fans. Once Square remakes Chrono Trigger, however, they will see the overwhelmingly positive response of the demographic and will then understand that money can be made from continuing the series, making a sequel seem much more desirable for them. It makes sense, then, to hit them first with a petition asking for Chrono Trigger, for afterwards we would most likely end up getting a sequel without even asking for it.

It seems ZealitY is on our side now. Though more through association with the Chrono Trigger series than through what specifically we are attempting to accomplish. I suppose we have to take what we can get though in regards to that. I do respect what he is trying to accomplish; though I can't see how what we are doing would not lead to the same thing. If S-E saw that Chrono Trigger is still a popular game even today; so popular, in fact, that they recieved a massive petition asking for a modern remake... could they possibly deny that the Chrono Trigger series is a profitable series? I think ZealitY is looking only at the short-term effects of this petition. He is not seeing where this petition leads in regards to the FUTURE of the CT series. It is my assumption that ZealitY wishes to see a new game in the CT series as quickly as possible. However, is it not best to reintroduce the series to newer gamers first, before showing them a sequel of that game? I think both plans are capable of working, but the one bringing in the most new fans (thus a larger fanbase for the series, making it a more-profitable series to work with) would most-definitely be ours.

ZeaLitY has agreed to give us a front-page mention on the Compendium. His only request is that we "darken that text".

Claado Shou claims he has never heard of the Petition. He sounded really confused when he PMed me, in fact. So I cleared things up for him and showed him the site, which pretty much explains everything all by itself. I also asked him if it would be okay to use Symphonic's "To Far Away Times", explained to him how we'd like to synchronize our launch with the release of Chrono Symphonic, and gave him both mine and Jake's email addresses. We'll see how he takes the news when he replies.

EDIT: I just checked the website. I'm now the "Advisor/Site Hustler". Jake, I sent you my real name in a reply to your PM, by the way...

That's great news about the Z-man, Stoney. I've got Nathan working on the final changes, including the darker text.

As for Claado, now that I think about it, I probably never did tell him I was working on the petition... Although I do seem to remember...yes, I DID tell him. I asked his permission to use Predetermination, and he said I could use any of the sample tracks that are available on the website, just none of the unreleased songs like Schala And The Queen (which is AWESOME, by the way...Schala has a singing part).

I'll put your real name on there in a little bit, Stoney. Thanks. You're doing a great job handling the relations with other people and stuff right now. And yeah, you're the advisor and site hustler. I have trouble keeping up with who does what; all I know is that it gets done. I looked back through this thread last night and was wondering, "What EXACTLY has Stoney done?" I pretty much ended up figuring that your advice has been your most important contribution to date, along with that giant bonfire you lit under Nathan's butt!

Propogator, now you've got me curious. Nevermind about what? LOL...

It seems people at the CTRP forums are being a little slow to offer their assistance with the artwork. There was one person who mentioned the possibility of helping out with the artwork in the future, but there is currently no artist who has DEFINITELY decided to dedicate some time towards this.

There are obviously other places to ask; though I am a little wary of where specifically I should ask. Afterall, the general rule right now is to not show many people the site at the moment. If I go off requesting artwork from other websites, I would have no choice but to post the address of the website... thus allowing them to view specifically what we need them to work with. Of course, in doing so, I would also reveal the website to many... which is obviously what we are trying to avoid at the moment.

In other words, I'm merely requesting what action I should take. Any guidelines I should follow before requesting other groups for their artistic skill?

*edit*
Just attempted a quick look at what specifically was downloadable from the site currently. Three of the six downloads give corrupt .zip files. The three that do work are titled "w1", "s2" and "s3". Just wanted to inform you.

Oh... and Jake, you might want to give the raw images rather than edited ones. The artist will be far more limited in what they do if you give them artwork that has already been altered.

Holy crap guys, Claado Shou has done more than agree to let us use his music. Check it out:

Well, I was still under the impression that Chrono Symphonic would be used for a Chrono Trigger Flash series, but I guess this is a MUCH better idea. Sure, I'm in.

What besides acknowledging the project should I do? I'll do my own petition and send it in when the official release goes up, and I'll add a project link on the Chrono Symphonic website to advertise the petition, but...anything else you need done? Just let me know.

~.C.S.~

*dances with glee*

I reminded him about what I said in regards to keeping us updated on Symphonic's release, and told him he could use the logo on the "About CT : P" page for the project link if he wants. I also asked him if it would be okay to use currently-unreleased Symphonic songs on the website, since as it is right now the public won't hear them on the site until Symphonic's debut, anyway. I told him that if he agrees to let us do this, then he should send whatever unreleased mastered songs he has directly to Jake's email. And if he doesn't agree, well, then we'll just use the released sample songs.

Jake, if you need to ask Claado about anything else, just ask me for his email address and I'll PM it to you.

Apoc, here's a suggestion: go to the profiles of the CTRP artists (like Alezunde and BrownMan). There should be a button for emailing them. Click on it, write out a request for their assistance, and send it to them. Most of them probably aren't checking CTRP that frequently anymore, so this could be a good way to get their attention. You could also PM them so that if they don't check their email, they'll still become aware of what's going on when they next visit CTRP. I already PMed them about helping us with the petitions a while ago, and they all seemed willing, if not eager to help.

My only concern with that last post, Stoney, is that we're already happy with the music. At least, I am. There's really not a need to use additional music than the two songs we already have. I don't know what we would do with the songs if he did send more.

Also, Apoc, about the images...Yes, I realize those links are botched. There aren't any "real" files behind them, except w1, which I've already done. (How did you like it, by the way?) So I'm not asking anyone to do a wallpaper for that one since I already did.

That's great news that Claado is going to link to us. That's probably more publicity than he realizes.

Those are in Nate's hands at the moment. And no, I'm not going to rush him on it, unless we get wind that Symphonic launches this week.

I've also been keeping CTRP updated with our progress, as has Apoc.

Glad to know you enjoy this that much, JORDAN.

But, about the song Schala And The Queen, it's not one you'd want to put on the site to play while you're browsing. It's hardly recognizable as CT music, as there's a lot of original composing. And Schala's vocals don't match any particular melody that I recall. And on top of that, her lyrics are in Japanese...which is great if you understand Japanese, but I sure as heck don't! (Claado did send me the English translation of the lyrics though, and they're definitely up Schala's alley as something she would sing.) Plus, a few of the instrument choices seem just a tad out-of-place... It kind of makes me think they were going for the cultural feeling of Zeal, how Zealian music would sound, etc. But if you're just a casual viewer who doesn't know all that and doesn't know what the song is meant for, you won't know that, and it would just seem a little weird.

They do an impressive blend of The Day The World Revived (the game-over song) along with Schala's Theme... But then it turns into the Magus Battle and a lot of original stuff... There are some really loud, dramatic moments that are supposed to match with key points in the "movie." For example, you can hear this one particularly powerful drum beat that seems to be meant for the moment when Schala gets zapped and thrown to the ground for trying to get Queen Zeal away from the Mammon Machine. Then the song just turns to utter chaos when Zeal begins to fall. It's an incredible song, don't get me wrong, but... I don't know, I just don't feel that it would be a good match. I'm browsing the site right now with this song playing, and it's just... Meh.

EDIT: About the images for wallpapers and sigs, the original images can be found here:

A critique:

The support signatures are biased against fans who know how to insert their name into a signature. While it isn't really a hard thing to do, a lot of Chrono Trigger fans who participate in the forums might not know anything about that. I think it would be a good idea to make versions of the signatures that say "I Support The Chrono Trigger Petition." That way we will continue our trend of being accommodating to all Chrono Trigger fans, a trend I very much agree with.

Also, I think it may be a good idea to put our website url on the signatures somewhere, so that anyone who is using them is essentially providing publicity for the site and a link to the site. This way Chrono fans who see the signatures but don't initially care enough to ask about them will still be able to check the site out. The easiness that a product seems to be attained in an advertisement is parallel with the effectiveness of the advertisement of that product. Therefore, if we make it easier to obtain information about the petition, we will get more signatures.

Also, I think that if we just change Stoney's information to "Title and Credit Glutton" we won't have to deal with adding his duties anymore.

I like your idea in the 2nd paragraph, Prop. Props to you. But on the 1st paragraph, I really don't understand what you're saying. All they have to do is write their name on a line. What can possibly be more simple? Has the intelligence of our world really gone downhill THAT far?

Users who have no experience with photoshop or other such programs wont know how to do that, and probably wont even have the programs with which to do it anyway. And yes, the intelligence of our world has declined to that point. Why do you think you get points on the SATs for writing your name in the right spot?
