I should of notice that, sorry about that michael. I heard that game got canceled. It looked good when I saw the screenshots. I love 3d remakes. They should do the same thing to FF6.

Stephen, the screenshots you have seen were of a fan-made remake that DID get cancelled. Square has never attempted to remake Chrono Trigger. If they do, it'll likely blow the screenshots you saw totally out of the water.

Prepare yourself for loud screaming!
BWAHAHAHAHAHA!!! HOLY CRAP!!! WHO WOULD HAVE THOUGHT THAT'D TURN OUT SO DAMN AWESOME!!! THAT SITE IS TEH AWESOMENESS!!!!11!!!!111!!!
This has been a "loud screaming" session. If I had been over your house, you would know by the roaring blasts of joy.

*ahem*

Anyway, it seems we now have a website up. Our "home" site, so to say. Your friend did a wonderful job. I didn't know he'd be making it like that. Good lord man, its just... so awesome. A simple, yet wonderful look. Not to mention, the music in the background is a nice added touch. Wonderful stuff. Just as a protection for the official CT artwork and music, I suggest you credit that towards SE. That way you're at least giving them credit... so it is less likely that they would take any action towards that. That just looks so damn professional, heh... it definitely raises my hopes on this quite alot. We can definitely get some notice with that.

Of course, there still is a problem. While it looks great, things obviously still need to be filled in. I'll definitely aid in the advertising, but it obviously would be best to wait until every thing is set. Again, great job so far with everything. The only thing left to do in my books would be to spruce up the petition itself a little bit. Otherwise we are just about set to get things in motion.

As far as crediting SE, click on Privacy Policy

Content is about to be filled in. I've got most of it written up already. Need some more though...particularly I'd like an article refuting the theory that a remake would spell the end of the Chrono series.

Good... so that was already taken care of. Just to point out a few errors on that page...
- Copyright is spelled incorrectly, you spelled it "copywrite". (you did this two times)
- In "All Rights Reserved", you spelled "Rights" incorrectly. You said "Rigths".

Just thought it might be a good idea to fix that.

As for the whole debunking of the "end of CT series" theory, I'll try to write up something on that a little later. I have to lock myself in the basement for a few hours with my partner to write some code, and throw some circuitry together. Hopefully they will remember to feed us this time...

How signing the petition helps the CT series continue as a whole:

How can it not? By showing your support of the Chrono Trigger series by signing this petition, you are pledging to be interested in this and future Chrono Trigger projects. All companies work towards one goal: Money. If we show that Chrono Trigger, and thus, the entire Chrono series, is a profitable market, then we are very likely to get positive results from S-E. For example, the Final Fantasy series has continued so well because it had great support. Had fans not shown that they wanted more, the series would likely not continue. If we show that Chrono Trigger (the ROOT of the CT series) has a large fanbase, then we are not only likely to get a remake of Chrono Trigger, but we would also very likely see sequels to the series as well.

Sequels? That sounds great. Yeah, I never thought that the Chrono series might not end with Chrono Cross or Chrono Break... Would it be too optimistic to imagine a Chrono series as large as the Final Fantasy series?

P.S.: Have you guys found a place to host the website?

Oh. My. God.

Sorry it took me so long to come back here -- first week of college and already the homework is piling up like a municipal landfill. Bleh.

The progress that has been made with the petition in the past week defies logic and reason. I feel so deeply gratified right now, you guys. The site (as preliminary as it is) is more than I could've hoped for. Although it took five minutes to load on my computer (damn this crappy 56K connection!) it was definitely worth it. This is great. No, this is STUPENDOUS. This is AMAZING. I am STUNNED. So stunned, I am SPEAKING IN CAPITAL LETTERS. Jake, give your web-designer friend my sincere thanks and praise for a job well done. He really outdid himself here.

I'm gonna go look through the site again. Seriously, it looks so good, I could just cry in happiness. In fact, I think I'll do so. Right now.

Can't blame ya Stoney, that sounds a lot like my initial reaction.

Going to college, eh? It seems you are a year ahead of me then. I'm preparing for the eminent horrors of my Senior Year in the engineering highschool. The Senior Project is by far the largest aspect of my entire "career" in the Academy. If I screw THAT one up, then I'd have truely screwed up my entire four years there. Creepy. I guess it isn't looking too bad just yet though, a few companies seem interested in the project and are donating some parts and normally unattainable datasheets.

Anyway, I fully agree. The progress we're making is quite astounding. Of course, this is mostly due to one person, Jake-A-Roonie. I think we can all agree on that one, seeing the effort he has put in thus far. Of course, the project has had numerous others helping out too. We have two tasks to accomplish before the main aspect of this project can begin. Those being:

- Finish up basic design of site (Add in our own words!!!)
- Fix up the petition design.

...After that, we will be quite ready for advertising AND will be ready to begin the process of collecting signatures.

Well Apoc, I've got the first one of those taken care of. Can I leave the sprucing-up of the petition itself to you and Props? I'm working with Nathan to get those misspellings corrected, the music changed, images inserted, etc. Once you've got the sprucing-up done, please get it to me in an MS Word document. I'll get that to Nate, and he'll convert it from there and upload the new one.

All content is already written. As I said, it just needs to be inserted...

Oh and another thing, I'd like to use that Contacts page to credit a few key people here. Namely Apoc and Propogator (and I'd like to know your real names, if you could), along with MichaelVash (I already know your real name). That way people can have a link to click that'll email y'all for questions if you want, and it'll make our staff look nice 'n' big.

I've been too busy to say this before now, but it does need to be said: The kind words several of you said about me haven't gone unnoticed, and I just wanted to say thank you for that. I REALLY appreciate it. BUT...! There's nothing to really thank me for if we've hyped all this up and then wind up making no difference. We can celebrate and say our thank-yous when the petition has been shipped. From there, it'll be beyond our control and everything will be up to Square-Enix from there. But as for now, this is the time when we can take control. We're manning the helm of the Chrono series, so to speak... And I see a bright future coming.

*is feeling ignored*

Has my absence this past week really made me seem like that much less a contributor than Props and Apoc? And the last time I checked, I was helping those two write the Petition...have I been rejected from the group?

Ai yai yai, sorry Stoney... Between this and another project I'm running, plus work and real-life issues... My memory is mush!

Aw, don't fret about it. My memory has gone the way of Early-Onset Alzheimers too, what with the start of college and all. I'm just glad I'm still part of the group.

Hmmmm... I'm really that important? When you look at it thus far, I really haven't done anything amazing... but hey, I'm not one to not take appreciation. Much appreciated on my part.

Anyway, Stoney, I'd also like you to help out with the petition. Quite frankly, you're probably more-deserving of that position than myself. Anyway, I think the time is right to work on fixing up that petition. I think Props, Stoney, and I should discuss a bit more in detail what we plan to do with the petition design. The wording is fine thus far. The only problem we might have is contacting with Props on the design and all.

Perhaps I should just inform you of what I think should be done with it, and then you can give me your thoughts on it. Sound good?
- Make the downloadable petition packet come with two pages.
- First page having CT artwork faded in to the background (or some kind of banner), with the petition statement and team logo over it.
- The second page having a space to list the total number of signatures for the page (acts as easy reference for Jake-A-Roonie when he counts total signatures), and non-numbered areas to place signatures (in this method, we can reprint the 2nd page to use for more signatures if needed.

The problem is, I don't think any of us are artists. We have two options then. We can either use official CT artwork, or we can find an artist to help with this. Then of course, there is the logo. We have two options for that. We may use the image seen on the website, or we may ask an artist to create one for us. What would you guys like to do?
Hmmmm... I'm really that important? When you look at it thus far, I really haven't done anything amazing... but hey, I'm not one to not take appreciation. Much appreciated on my part.

You think I should work on the petition instead of you, Apoc? Really? Wow, thanks...but I appreciate your input more than you realize. It would be much more helpful (to me, at least) if you, me, and Props all did the work together.

I agree wholeheartedly with the multiple-pages idea. Why not? It might make it seem more professional. I, too, think we should have more than just two pages, but I also think that the petition statement and the spaces for signatures should be separated.

We can have the cover page, with the logo, faded background image, etc. like you suggest. Then the second page would include just the petition statement itself, centered on the page without any accompanying spaces for signatures. Then the third page, fourth page, fifth page, etc. would consist of nothing except spaces for signatures. That way, someone could print the whole petition out and go around collecting lots of signatures, then just re-print the third, fourth, fifth, etc. pages if they ever need more spaces.

The current version of the petition has 18 spaces for signatures. That's good; 18 is a nice, even number. But I've always found it easier to do mathematical calculations with numbers that have a factor of ten, such as 20, 30, 40, 50, etc. If the extra signature pages had that many spaces, it might be easier to figure out how many total signatures a person has acquired. I recommend 20; it's close to what we have now and easy to calculate. 50 would be even easier for calculating (2 pages equal 100 sigs, pretty simple), but it might be a bit difficult to fit all those spaces onto a single page. Imagine how tiny the signees would have to write in order to fit each of their names on there!

I've already enlisted the help of the local CTRP artists for the logo. I frankly do not like the logo on the website...it seems like a placeholder, and even worse, it could get us sued by Square since it incorporates the official CT logo, which is copyrighted.

Just so you know, Jake, my real name and e-mail address are in my profile if you need my contact information for the site.

You know, I really like the rendition of "To Far Away Times" that plays on the website. Too bad it needs replacing because it's so similar to the original. *sigh* It's making me feel all nostalgic...

It *IS* the original, Stoney. And don't worry, it'll be replaced with something even better.

About the art in the background of the first page: Didn't you know that I'm friends with CuteLucca? We've got that taken care of. And in case you're not sure, Stoney, CuteLucca is the amazing artist who did the painting of Schala you're looking at on the right over here.

Actually, the number of spaces right now (18) is a placeholder. When the attorney hands this thing back to us, he'll also let us know if more information will be needed. Will we need address and stuff like that, etc. If that's the case, it'll reduce the number of signatures per page.

I had thought of what you were saying with having the petition statement on one page and then having just signatures on another, but it *COULD* present a legal hurdle. While it is unlikely that Square would play weasel games with us, we do want to be ready just in case, and it's possible that we could be accused of having people sign something different, ie, they never saw the page that had the petition statement, and then we simply included their signatures with our petition. By contrast, if the statement itself is on the same page that they sign, then no such accusation can be made.

Maybe I'm being overly cautious though, and your idea might be a good one. In that case, there should not be more than 3 pages total to the packet. After all, why should we have a 4th, 5th page, etc, if they are identical to the 3rd? Just print 20 copies of page 3, or whatever.

Back to the mention of background art for the 1st page, I'm thinking of one of these seven images of the main characters:
Crono
Marle
Lucca
Frog
Robo
Ayla
Magus

I'm thinking maybe Lucca since she is, I believe, the one who has undergone the most dramatic change in appearance here. As I said earlier in the thread, she'd be recognizable (helmet, huge glasses, etc), yet would give the idea of something new and remade.

Hmmm... that artwork isn't too bad. Something colored would be good, but I think those'll do nicely. Hmmmm... you say you need to use one image? I'm thinking otherwise. Why not have a little variety, and use them all for seperate "versions" of the petition? I'm sure all fans have some character as their favorite, so why not let them choose the character they want in the background of the petition they gathr signatures on? What do you think of that?

As for the pages, I really don't think we need a title page. That is just sort of... a waste of paper. That is why I recommended two pages. The first page would have the art in the background, as well as the logo. The Petition statement would be easily readable from there as well. The second page would have 20 to 25 spaces for signatures... as well as an area to put the total number of signatures (for that page) on. Obviously, if you needed room for MORE signatures, you would just reprint page 2. To calm your fears concerning S-E claiming the second page (containing the signatures) was not in correspondance with the first page (containing the petition statement), I suggest the logo from the first page also be put on the second page. It should also say somewhere on that page something along the lines of, "Chrono Trigger Remake Petition". That way, no matter what, we can claim that both pages are indeed pertaining to the same thing.

I'll see if I can make a "prototype" soon... after I get some "homework" done.
