On the nintendo 64 two Zelda games were relaesed the orcrena of time and magorans mask. I ask aroun from person to person to figour out which one is the better game but the answers are very mixed. As far as I see it they are equaly matched games. Both are outstanding but one stands out more. My quation to you is which do you like better?

I don't know much about any of them, but I think I would pick majoras mask .
But I think this thread fits more at the "Video Games" forum.

geeogree : Could you please move it, wherever you think it fits better?

I checked your last posts and they're full of dots! So, please stop doing that!

I love both games, they both stayed true to the Zelda formula of swordsmanship, utilizing new equipment, and saving the land they live/walk on. Both games are legendary and I love them equally.

They both have their merits.

Story
OOT had a much better stand-alone story than MM, but MM was more about the side-stories and how everything tied in together (and it did very well). OOT was an instant sell for me, but at first, I didn't much care for the MM story. After a few years, I went back and played again, and I can now appreciate the dark, twisted theme of it (with an E rating; Bravo).

Graphics
MM had better graphics, hands down. The textures were fuller, the landscape was richer, and there weren't huge, mostly empty areas like Hyrule Field, all thanks to the expansion pack. Even today, I can go back to play MM and say it had beautiful environments. Graphics take more of a side role to me, but it is a definite point for MM.

Gameplay
With OOT, you could do pretty much anything you wanted, whenever you wanted. MM was strictly governed by what time of day and which day it was; the entire game revolved around this. I'd say it pulled this off very well, but if you are waiting for a particular event, it could be a long time of doing nothing, even if you speed up time and can skip ahead 12 hours. OOT had more genuinely useful items while most of the masks from MM were just filler and were used once. The ability to transform was cool, but the zora form felt so clumsy with it's punches and fighting with the camera while swimming sucked. And why would you really need 6 bottles? 4 I understand was useful for the pirate hideout/pinnacle rock sequence, but 6??

Dungeons
I love the dungeons from both games, but the Water Temple from OOT and the Great Bay Temple from MM need to be taken aside and ranted about. There's something about all of Zelda's water levels that makes them the biggest pain in the @$$ in the entire game. OOT Water Temple was at least navigable once you figured out where the water level change places were, but if you used the first key on the wrong door, be prepared for a very long stay. And how you keep having to dive (HA!) into the inventory screen to toggle your iron boots on and off is just tedious. However, the Water Temple is nothing compared to the atrocity that is the Great Bay Temple. You will wish it had rising and falling water levels when you instead have to turn switches and fight to get into the correct one way passages and not waste another 5 minutes getting back to the central room, getting oriented again, and attempting to go down the right way again. This is a nightmare even if you have a guide, and the map doesn't help much either. Instead of messing with the iron boots, now you have to flip back and forth from the Zora to the normal form, meaning the Zora mask pretty much had to be set to a c button at all times, so you have to dive into the inventory more frequently anyways. It's nice to see the ice arrows get some love after OOT, but they are so unwieldy, and you have to use them a LOT in here.

Conclusion
I love both games, but if you twist my arm and make me choose, I'd have to give it to OOT.

Over all I'd have to side with the majority and say OoT was the better of the two. The story pulls you along a lot easier, it is more of an adventure and just more all around fun. With Majora's Mask you have to keep worrying about the time of day, and it keeps you from really having the same level of fun.

Having said that: There are times when I would rather play Majora's Mask rather than OoT. The ability to throw on whatever mask you feel like to fight, to deal with the challenge at hand allows for a lot more... Creativity.

Play OoT first, and if you like it, play MM. They are both great games, but OoT is definitely a bit better

man, this is kind of a bummer topic for me.. i got a nintendo 64 kicked down to me by a buddy of mine, which isn't the bummer.. one of the games (also kicked down free by good people) was majora's mask. this is also not the bummer.
the bummer is that after i played through ocarina of time (loving it!), i realized the n64 didn't have the memory expander chip thing that goes in the front, so i am still unable to play majora's mask, although i own it. totally weak.
so i guess ocarina wins by default. i loved the heck out of it.
i'll probably end up finding a chip on ebay or something.. unless somebody lives in central jersey and wants to kick it down? =)

Ocarina of Time is way better. In Majora's Mask you have to keep worrying about the time and you can't really do what you'd like without consequence. MM was somewhat nerve-racking and annoying to me. Some people like those kinds of elements though. My younger brother, for example, loves MM (possibly due to his ADHD, but more so I think it's his personality). For me, I'll stick to the classic OoT. Loved the story (helped me to be immersed in the game), the element of time, the temples (especially the water temple), the horse-riding, and the sense of a large open world.

I'm a big fan of the Zelda series and I like pretty much every game in it, but I've always wondered this question myself as to if I like Ocarina of Time or Majora's Mask better. I like Ocarina of Time because of it's overall creativeity, the vast amount of wonderful gameplay as well as cool dungeons and new bosses. It was also a very important mark on the franchize, with creative gameplay that you couldn't get from any other game at the time, as well as the introduction of 3D Zelda gaming. I Like Majora's Mask because of it's much more updated story line, better graphics, and a much more in depth and darker game than it's predisesor OoT. All in all, I'd have to say that Majora's Mask beat's out OoT for me because of it's sheer awesomeness! ( Now i feel like pulling out my dusty N64 and having a night of playing though MM!)

Best Keep your concience as clean as you can, or charma will come with a blade in it's hand. It will strike all those who seek to gain without giving, and spare all of those who are weak and forgiving.

I personally enjoyed both games. I played them both multiple times and enjoyed them almost equally. Majora's Mask was trickier in that you had to worry about the days, but OoT had much more to do and the Forest Temple still creeps me out and the Water Temple is still a pain even after playing the game tons of times, so I'd have to go with OoT on this one.

Vizzed.com is very expensive to keep alive! The Ads pay for the servers.

Vizzed has 3 TB worth of games and 1 TB worth of music.  This site is free to use but the ads barely pay for the monthly server fees.  If too many more people use ad block, the site cannot survive.

We prioritize the community over the site profits.  This is why we avoid using annoying (but high paying) ads like most other sites which include popups, obnoxious sounds and animations, malware, and other forms of intrusiveness.  We'll do our part to never resort to these types of ads, please do your part by helping support this site by adding Vizzed.com to your ad blocking whitelist.
