Hey everyone

Do you go to a public school or a private scool. Also, explain how it is like over there. I go to a private school in a super secret location And it is fun and well known for certain reasons

I'm in a private school since birth the first time I went to school. Yeah... it's pretty well-known, but I don't enjoy that part because:

a : when a group of people see me and I'm wearing the uniform, they'll always go like "Is she from _______ university, woah! And her uniform is for highschools!" "She may be kidnapped here." blahblahblah etc....

it's annoying, really. I'm a normal kid you people!

And letter b: expectations expectations expectations... at least mom and dad are not one of those expectation freaks.

Juliet : lol that's exactly what people think of me because

a. Not many people in my area go to school, let alone a high school. Also, I am the only one in my area to go to a high school in a different city(private school) and people say. "Is he from here?"

b. expectations expactions expactions. And yes, my parents are expectation freaks since I am the only normal kid in the family and the youngest of their children and the only one that is doing well in high school =/

SO THERE lol

Private School, have since I started Middle School (I got to experience public elementary school though...)
The whole thing makes me feel too sheltered. We don't ever have any major incidents, nothing major that ever gets on the news (unlike the public school next door), nothing. I know I really shouldn't be complaining, and its not because I'm bored, but I know that when I go off in to the real world, it won't be the little sheltered community that I would have lived in for six years, and I will be entirely unprepared.
Expectations. Duh. You think you have expectations? My older sister got her SAT results back, and they were perfect. Literally. 2400 club for her. I know my parents won't kill me if I don't get the same (I'm happy with 2000+, really), but they will definitely be disappointed.
Uniforms. Dorky plaid skirts that are really itchy, and practically no allowed outer ware, because it's not SUPPOSED to get cold where I live. It snowed this year.
Teachers. They actually want to work at my school, they actually know the names of each student, and they try as hard as they can to get us to pass (well, most of them). Best part, in my opinion.
Other people. Nice people, no need to fear fist fights in the parking lots after school, and lots of friends. Mostly. No major social dramas (although we did have a suicide and a couple of car wrecks. How can I type this so casually?)
Everyone expects me to
1) Be a genius (read a couple of lines up)
OR
2) be rich. Really rich, so that I could buy my way into said school.
I'm neither, so it is really fun to explain that to people.
Overall though, it is a lot nicer than the public school I went to earlier. They have nice food not provided by the state (examples include: frozen sandwiches, wormy apples, and hot seafood salads), decent bathrooms, and great teachers. Also, I don't have to worry about one of my friends secretly hiding drugs in my locker as a joke (that actually did happen in my area, I'm not stereotyping anything).
Ok. Nice long post, nice long rant. Signing off now.

Juliet : You shouldn't use colons for the a and b thing since apparently there's a user on Vizzed named "a" XD

As for me, I go to public school. Nothing really special about that... Though, I can sort of count my old elementary school in Hong Kong as a "private" school since I wore uniforms and stuff like that lol. Plus it was a Lutheran school.

I go to a Charter school.
Never go to my school!!
We have a stupid chart-point thing that affects our permanent record.
Someone gets suspended everyday.
On the first year there was a pregnant girl and the cops came to our school
and arrested a 8th grader.
Did i mention that hes still in the school even though he got arrested?
Oh 1 more thing if you don't do your English or Math homework you get
after school detention.
And if you don't go to your after school detention you have Saturday detention
with your parents...at 10:00 until 5:00.
And if you or your parents don't go, you get suspended.
That's how it goes in my stupid school.
Did I mention that its only been open for 2 years?

EDITED by noelia: because your layout was messing up everything in this thread!

Roxas941 : there's something wrong bout your layout.

I guess I'll totally agree with you. That sucks, especially the detention part.

I went to public schools when I was in school. Wasn't too bad. I always wanted to graduate so bad and now that I did I'd do anything to be back in middle school or high school. My friends and I would skip a lot classes to hang out and get into mischief. Granted, I spent a lot of time in lunch detention, but skipping was fun. I wasn't a bad kid or anything it was just that I had a teacher who would give out detention slips at the drop of a hat so I figured if I was going to spend time in detention I would do stuff do deserve it. Middle school rocked though. You've just brought back tons of great memories.

Roxas941 : First, your layout messes up the page a bit. No worries.
Second, stuff like that happens at all schools, depending on which bit you are talking about.
Yes, people get arrested and people get pregnant in Public schools. It happens sometimes.
No, we do not have a chart system. That sounds terrible.
But yes, our detention system works that way, except in all subjects and we get three times to forget our homework before detention, and the Saturday detention, except its scraping gum, not with your parents. I would much rather face the gum.
In conclusion, detention sucks. End of story.

Private School to me is a great way to take away a childs independence by making them wear a "uniform". I hate uniforms Public School is better in my opinion you can express yourself in the way you dress and get to meet all kinds of different people.

I was homeschooled from middle-school on, and I think it was the best decision my parents made as far as bringing me up.

We didn't get a sissy tutor, either. We got school book, read the things, and did the assigned homework. By the end of middle school I was doing college-level work, and when I actually did start going to college I scored higher than average on my placement test TWICE.

People say homeschooling is this big, horrible thing that corrupts children, brainwashes them, and gives them a weird outlook on life. I think it's benefited me more than anything else, second to my religion.

First of all, we aren't forced to wear an idiotic uniform ("CONFORM, HUMAN.").

Secondly, we're encouraged to do our work and given genuinely severe punishments if we don't. (Detention doesn't solve a darn thing. That's what handheld game consoles were invented for.)

Thirdly, we can work on our own time as long as everything is ready by the due date. This gives us the opportunity to actually learn things rather than pass them and forget.

My older brother actually works at a private school now and he says most of the kids he meets are either jerks or just plain weird. Apparently people get sent there as a punishment.

Actually my parents let me choose between private and public, so I chose public.
Because I think you can have more freedom there.
Besides all my friends would go to this public school

I go to Public School.

I feel that Public school, even if the education in the classroom isn't as good, teaches you things outside of the classroom. Public school builds on social capabilities; if I didn't go to public school I probably wouldn't even be on here . There are tons of other things you learn from experience at public school too.

I suppose it would be interesting to go to a private school though.

I go to a Public School, I find these schools a better education for people than private.
