My first review was good, but let's see if I can do better.

Let's view the good parts first:

The graphics are nice, it's detailed pretty good, but flickers a bit, at least on a real NES game. It's normal for most games, so it won't be counted against it. The sound effects are cool, and it's fun killing enemies, because of the sound effects and the point system. The enemies are creative, like guys on fire, someone with a chainsaw that looks like Leatherface, balloon people, etc, and keeps most of the original TMNT characters. The gameplay is stimulating and the controls are decent.

But like every game, there are flaws, don't you hate that?

The enemies, although creative, were not seen in the original TMNT cartoon, but the comics, which is very weird, because most of these kinds of games come from TV shows and movies. Some logic is nonexistent. Like when fighting Rocksteady, switch to Donatello, jump on the crates, and keep hitting him, but only when he's ducking. Again, very weird. Each turtle only has one life, so if all 4 turtles are defeated, it's game over. The underwater level is awkward to get through. You have to defuse 6 bombs in 2.5 minutes. The annoying part is the enemies and hazards everywhere, which makes it hard to complete. I'd list more, but then i'd be really digging.

Overall, once you get past the flaws, it is awesome. I saw it as the #1 NES game in the early issues on the Nintendo Power magazine, and it's still great today.

I give it a 9/10. It is a true NES classic, and should be enjoyed by everyone. Well, almost everyone... (See review on YouTube by the Angry Video Game Nerd and you'll see.)

Nice work Man! Very well written too. I remember the water level, that level was a pain in the butt man, I hated it but thats part of the greatness of those classics. The thought that such a simple game was so difficult maybe even more difficult as the modern games of today...

Yeah that's a great game, I've never played a bad TMNT game. The best one is the arcade version which I think had a port to the SNES.

Anyways, 200 Viz.

I believe they also included it in the PlayStation 2 game: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 Battle Nexus.

This and Mario were my very first NES games. The water level is actually very easy for me, but that's probably because I've had over 20 years to get it down just perfect.

Sadly, I've never finished the game, but I know I could. With age comes experience, so if I sat down determined to finish it, I would make significantly less mistakes, learn the patterns of the different enemies, and eventually beat the game.
